SENIOR MATCH DAY PROGRAM Saturday 15th August 2020
COMMENTS FROM THE CLUB This weekend we host our Men’s CCL and CCL Reserve games. We FC Twenty 11 to Kendall Park. Our CCL Reserves kick off on the Turf at 12.30pm and our CCL kick off on the turf at 2.45pm. We wish them all the best! Our Women’s WPL are away at Linfield Park kicking off against Coastal Spirit at 12.30pm. Our CWCL are away at Tullet Park at 10.15am against Nomads. We wish both teams all the very best. We wish all our teams playing in and around Christchurch all the very best. This week the country has gone into Level 2 which sees us setting up contact tracing for teams at our venues. We are using IDME to sign in. We have had to cancel our in-house competition in order to get a plan in place to play under the 100 level gathering limit, but are hopeful to get this ready for next weekend. We wish to thank all our coaches, managers, parents, players and supporters for their cooperation and support during this time.

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB MEN’S CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE Waimak United VS FC2011 2.45PM Kick off Kendall Park Turf Coaches Comments This weekend, we have both the CCL and CCL Reserves playing at home against FC Twenty 11. The last round saw the CCL team agonisingly go down 1-0 to Halswell whereas the Reserves were able to bring home a 4-3 win against top of the table Halswell. Both games were heavily contested, and on any other day could have seen us Waimak bring home a 6 point weekend! We as a coaching staff must commend both squads of players for having applied our game plan and our philosophy from start to finish. The CCL team have built a strong case this season after gaining their first win of the season against FC Twenty 11 from Round 4 whereas the Reserves were on the end of a negative score line which I feel did not represent the flow of the game. Nevertheless, we as a squad are united and after achieving a very positive result in the latest English Cup fixture, we feel we have had the best preparation leading up to FC Twenty 11. For both squads, this will be a hard-fought contest and we expect to match up to whatever comes from this encounter. I want to pay a special mention to everyone working behind the scenes at the club as we are now back into Alert Level 2. Without your efforts earlier in the season and without your efforts now, I’d hate to see what the season could have turned out to! And for everyone else, we have beat COVID before and we can beat COVID again so please make sure to abide by both Mainland Football and Waimak United policies in regards to Alert Level 2. The CCL and the Reserves wishes the best for every other team representing Waimak United this weekend and we also would like to thank the continuous support we receive from our loyal supporters week in and week out. WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE Waimak United VS Coastal Spirit 12.30PM Kick off Linfield Park Coaches Comments This weekend we have both the WPL and CWCL playing away from home. WPL take on Coastal Spirit and CWCL are away to Nomads. The CWCL are at Tullet Park playing Nomads. Off the back of a midweek Reta Cup game against Selwyn where we were narrowly beaten 1 nil but put out a terrific performance, we will be looking for the girls to continue their great form in the league. Last week the girls demolished Coastal Spirit 18 – 1 which saw them move to the top of the CWCL competition. We will be asking the girls to continue to focus on being clinical in front of goal. The WPL team head to Linwood to take on Coastal Spirit. This is a crucial game and one in which we will be looking to the girls to continue to play their game and to focus on what we can control which will see us to continue our development when playing the top sides. This weekend we are asking several players to back up from CWCL to WPL as we stretch our playing resources due to injuries and other player commitments. I am sure this will not be a problem as the spirit in the camp is fantastic. The WPL team would like to wish the CCL management and players all the best for this weekend’s game as well as all other teams playing in the Waimak United colors this weekend. The players and the team would like to thank the club for its continuing support. Lastly and more importantly we would like to thank all our loyal supporters and hope that you all enjoy the game today.
