WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB MEN’S CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE Waimak United VS St Albans Shirley FC 2.45PM Kick off Kendall Park Turf

Coaches Comments This week sees Waimak United CCL and CCL Reserves squad go up against Saint Albans Shirley. Both coming off of loses against Burwood the weekend before. The lads have been rested well and had a good training on Thursday. As a team we want to bounce back against SAS as we lost to them away from home in the last round. The key thing for the team this week is to work together and not get frustrated in game regardless of what the score is. The coaching staff feel that we have a good squad for this Saturday and all the players are ready to go and get a win. Therefore, the sprits are high on the team considering a loss last week. All the players understand the roles they have and what they bring to the team. The league this year is tough especially at the top end of the table. Therefore, this is a hugely important game for us, win and we can work on gaining some crucial points to shift us to the top of the table. Lose and another team may just snap up those points. Pitch conditions and weather in this league can effect the players and we saw this effect last week at Burwood playing at Clare Park. The boys will be happy to be back at Kendall playing on the turf. The main question for us is whether or not we push to be at the top of the table or whether we are settling for less than that. This game will be hugely important to determine this.

We would love to have your support at Kendall this weekend at 12:30 for the reserves and 2:45 for the first team. Come get behind all the lads and let’s get a win! Myles Gardner Team Manager

WAIMAK UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE Waimak United VS Cashmere Technical 12.30PM Kick off Garrick Memorial Park Coaches Comments This weekend we have both the WPL and CWCL are away from home. WPL take on Cashmere Technical and CWCL are away to Parklands. The WPL game is significant in the landscape of the WPL competition with both us and them on 13 points 3 points behind leaders Coastal Spirit. The last round saw both the WPL and CWCL coming away with positive results. The WPL had a 3– 2 win against while the CWCL had a 1–1 draw against Cashmere Technical. The WPL game against Halswell saw the team play some of the best football of the season with a high level of training aspects coming to life in the game but it was only for a 20-minute period. This weekend we are hoping for some of the same football but for a longer period. As I said last week the group has made some fantastic strides and the times ahead for the female game at the club are exciting with the older heads coming to the floor and the younger players improving week to week. Our last meeting with Cashmere Technical was at Kendal Park. This game was a tight contest with the result showing this with both team scoring a brace to end the game 2-2. Our girls were disappointed as they felt that we deserved more from the game but we are still on a learning journey and part of this learning is to be better at finishing strong in games, which we are getting better at and this is highlighted through the position we are in at the moment. The WPL team would like to wish the CCL management and players all the best for this weekend’s game as well as all other teams playing in the Waimak United colors this weekend. The players and the team would like to thank the club for its continuing support. Lastly and more importantly we would like to thank all our loyal supporters and hope that you all enjoy the game today.
