~ Irshad SoofiSubmission is about really getting in sync and if you look at children; children from early on, if they are allowed to progress naturally without a lot of interruptions, they know exactly what to do. They are in a state of submission in that they’re following a natural order and pattern, just as when we were in the wombs of our mothers all our cells knew what to do. They knew…the liver knew to become a liver and the heart knew to become a heart and our circulation knows how to circulate. Our body knows to stay within a homeostatic balance and keeps our internal temperature, irrespective of
what the external temperature is, at around 98.6 ºF. When we get sick there is a disruption in that order and so in the same way we can see this order and disruptions in this order. Also in our associations in our communities, in our societies, if children are treated in certain ways it has certain effects on their behaviour and on their attitudes. If they’re belittled and held in contempt as children, they respond with certain pathologies that are actually in many ways quite discernible and recognizable for people that are trained in those types of observation.
Moisturiser
The first step in caring for skin is the daily use of moisturisers regularly, which can help prevent the skin from drying out and can be enough to control some mild cases of eczema.
Topical steroids
Corticosteroid ("steroid") creams and ointments can quickly help to calm the redness and itching on inflamed skin, particularly for severe flares. Most must be prescribed by a doctor. Steroids can quickly reduce the signs of eczema; however, they are not intended for long-term use (more than a couple of weeks). When steroids are used for long periods of time, side effects such as skin thinning can become apparent. Be aware that even mild steroids should not be used for an extended period of time on a child's skin.
Non-steroid medications known as topical calcineurin inhibitors are a non-steroid medication which helps to calm the redness and itching of inflamed skin and it can also provide long-term eczema control. During a flare, these treatments can take longer to resolve immediate symptoms than steroids, but they can be used from the very first feeling of a flare and over a long period to give you more flare-free time and better eczema control.
Anti-Itch Treatments
Antihistamines may also be prescribed to help reduce an eczema flare, although they do not reduce the swelling or redness. Some of these might also cause drowsiness. This makes it easier to sleep through the night, remember any drug with a sedative effect should be avoided during the day.
Antibiotics
Infection is more likely to take place in skin affected by eczema. If this should occur, antibiotics are prescribed to treat the infected skin. They can kill the bacteria that are causing the infection. Overuse of antibiotics can lead to their loss of effectiveness, as the bacteria become resistant to the drugs. You can prevent this by treating your eczema at the first signs or symptoms, which reduces the risk of a skin infection and helps to avoid the use of antibiotics altogether.

What else can I do to care for my skin?
Itching can make you irritable and keep you up all night. You can also become self-conscious of the red, inflamed, scaly skin. In addition to the medical treatment of eczema, here are some other ways you can help to minimise its impact:
• Make sure your room is not too warm, so you are less likely to sweat while sleeping.
• Don't let skin dry out
• Avoid hot, long showers or baths. Showers or baths should be no longer than 10 minutes, at a temperature no higher than 38 degrees.
• Avoid using soap as much as possible on the areas affected by eczema and on dry skin areas. Skin cleansers (no soap) are more suitable for these areas.
• Gently pat skin dry with a soft towel - don't rub.
• Apply a moisturiser within 3 minutes of bathing to lock in the moisture.
• Use only doctor-recommended cleansers, laundry detergents and moisturisers. Avoid anything with perfume or fabric softeners.
• If possible, avoid contact with woo-lie blankets, jumpers etc.
• If you are allergic to dust or dust mites, use protective coverings for pillows and mattresses, and wash bedclothes frequently in hot water.
• If night time itching is a problem, you may be able to soothe yourselves with a cold, damp washcloth, followed by a moisturiser and a sedating antihistamine, if your doctor recommends it.
• Keep pets off beds and other furniture.
• Stress can make eczema worse. Keeping to a routine may help you feel calmer, and it helps you memorise the bath, moisturiseriser, medicine schedule.
• Talk to your child about eczema, eczema triggers, and how to avoid them.
• Educate babysitters and day care providers about your childs special bathing and moisturising needs.
• Encourage your child by telling them, that eczema is not contagious and that there is a good chance it will begin to go away as he or she gets older.
• Keep a record of flares for discussion with your doctor.
THE LAUNCH OF THE EX- WITNESS STAFF COMMITTEE
AMIDST THE CRISIS IN UKRAINE DOCTOR PERSEVERES & QUALIFIES
With family and friends asking when I'd come back, and my wishing for home made it quite difficult to stay on . "How do I go home totally empty handed?" , I thought. And so my decision to stay and the journey to see what opportunities lay ahead began.
For the first few days, my studies were up in the air. Nobody was certain what would happen with the last 2 months. Whilst I am thankful all universities began online classes and continued assessments, it was disappointing to experience a finish such as this, not in the way I'd hoped it would be. But life hardly goes according to plan, I'm learning. It's how we adapt to our situation that matters most.
The true shining star of this entire journey is Mowgli, my now 1 year old Jack Russell. At the time of leaving Ukraine he was just a 4 month old pup and I am proud to say he is really well behaved regardless of everything that's transpired and all that he experienced. Through all the changes he has been an anchor and a huge source of comfort.
I have been living in The Netherlands for six months. In my time I have been working temporary jobs whilst I wait for my official graduation certificate. I am using this time to reflect, regroup, work and experience life in Europe, learn another language and prepare for entrance/board exams.
WISDOM FROM The Ramayan
Jyotishacharya Shastri Pundit Roshan SinghChoose the path of righteousness
Vibhishana, younger brother of Ravana chose to not support his sibling in the war against Ram. He knew his brother had committed a sin by abducted someone, a married lady.
Remain humble no matter how powerful you become Hanuman could have easily rescued Sita from Ravana’s Ashoka Vatika. He had the power to singlehandedly fight against Ravana’s army. But he chose to surrender to Lord Ram’s divinity and let him do the needful.
Treat everyone equally
Lord Rama treated everyone equally and that’s how he earned the love and respect among everyone. No matter if a person was younger or elder, poor or rich, he was the same person for everyone. Even when Sabri (the sage’s daughter) offered him the already tasted berry fruits he ate them without giving a second thought. He was always kind and humble to people. We should toe inhere this quality. We should always treat everyone with equality and should not discriminate on the basis of status, sex, age, or cast. We should treat animals equally as the true human being is the one who knows that everyone deserves an equal treatment.
3 Ingredient No Bake Apple Cookies
INGREDIENTS
* 120g Applesauce * 1/2 cup Almond Butter
* 1 cup nstant Oats METHOD
Add applesauce and almond butter to a large mixing bowl and stir until evenly combined. Add in oats and stir until oats are evenly mixed in and mixture turns into a thick dough. You want to stir for a few minutes because as you continue to stir, the oats will soak in more of the liquid and your dough will get thicker. Stir until the dough no longer seems to be getting any thicker.
Using a 1 tbsp scoop, scoop cookie dough onto prepared baking pan. Press down on dough ball with the palm of your hand to form a thick round disk. Smooth edges as needed. Cookies should be about 1/2 inch thick. Do not spread cookie dough out too thin because it will make the cookies less sturdy. Repeat with remaining dough.
Place cookies in the fridge to set (around 30 min-1 hour). This will let the cookies firm up slightly and they should no longer be too sticky to hold. Store uneaten cookies in the fridge or freezer.

SPIRITUAL SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION
Article by Pastor Michael Gobel Associate Pastor of The Campus Church, PMB Co founder/CEO of Planting Hope Foundation PREPARING FOR THE FESTIVE SEASONThe holiday season is fast approaching which for many will be a unique and different experience dependent on your religious affiliation and beliefs. For some it means a time to relax and recover from the events of the year that has passed us by in a flash. For others, it’s the peak period for businesses and this means the busiest time of year. Hopefully, this is also a time of giving and sharing, especially towards those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Sadly, this period is also a time of sadness for some when we think of all those that have passed on, especially if or when such a loss was as a result of an unexpected illness, accident or death which was caused from reckless driving and/or driving under the influence of alcohol.
Then of course, for some this is a period of devotion, worship and reflection on the wonderful mercy and grace we all could have as a result of the birth of Jesus Christ. In my future December article, I will spend more time on the ‘religious association’ to Christmas and what this period should mean to those who are devoted Christians.
Nevertheless, regardless of your position in terms of your ideology or beliefs, I do believe that many would agree that we all indeed need a time out to relax, recharge, share and have ‘fellowship’ with family and friends and therefore this festive period of the year is no better time for all of us to use as a ‘season of preparation’ and reflection.
Rather than letting the busyness of the festive season overshadow a holiday period designed to celebrate God’s love for the world what if I was willing to prepare my heart to respond to God’s love by giving more of myself in love unto the world, my family, children and friends?
Here are some ideas to best prepare your for this season:
1 1. USE THIS TIME TO BOND
Author Ron Carpenter Jr., once said, “ A teachable spirit and a humbleness to admit your ignorance or your mistake will save you a lot of pain. However, if you're a person who knows it all, then you've got a lot of heavy hearted experiences coming your way.”
For those of you who are married and have a family, use this time to bond with your wife or husband. We often don’t realise how the ‘rat race’ causes us to neglect the importance of togetherness, intimacy and love. Use this time to take notice of the little things that your partner does for you during the year. Most importantly, for those of you with children, spend as much time with your kids not by sitting staring at your mobile phone or at the television screen but by having a decent conversation with them. Give them as much love and attention as they deserve. If you want the most out of your wife/husband or children, give them ‘attention.’ It is the one ingredient that will guarantee a ‘positive’ response.
2 2. STEP OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE
Prepare for the worst case scenario. It could mean making sure the family car has been serviced before the holiday road trip you have been planning all year. A word of advice, if you really want to get the most out of this festive season for you and your family, try (where possible) to get out of the house environment, away from your ‘normal’ circumstances and surroundings and take the family on a road trip somewhere or to nowhere. It doesn't need to be a holiday by the sea although that is good food for thought, it could just be a day trip going to a place that you have never been before. This is such an important idea as it will allow your mind to relax and will force you to think outside of the box or outside of your ‘comfort zone’ which you have created for yourself.
3 3. AVOID USING YOUR MOBILE PHONE
This is probably the hardest tip for many of us to follow as we have become so dependent on our phones. In the case of some of our youth, they have become almost obsessed by these electronic devices. In all seriousness, our mobile phones is probably the biggest cause of breakdowns in relationships and marriages and most certainly the primary reason why many parents don’t spend more time with their loved ones. Be sure to engage with your family and friends on a more ‘personal’ note.
4 4. RELAX AND ENJOY THE TIME OFF!
So, after all of that socialising, reading, thinking and planning, the most important thought is to r elax. Use the holiday period for what it’s intended so whatever relaxing means to you, make sure you take advantage of this break. Ideally you will get through this period refreshed, re energised and bursting with new life.

Spreading the Light of the Vedas
Dr Roshan Singh
Aries
It’s easy to live in your head today, dear Aries. There can be some struggle with indecision due to over-thinking, but staying on the fence about a matter may be preferable to hasty decisionmaking. However, with a few adjustments, you can find unique ways to relate and interact. Also today, Mercury moves into the sector of your solar chart that rules your intimate world, long-term strategies, work on the self, investigations, and attraction to that which is hidden or taboo.
Taurus
Your mind tends to wander today, dear Taurus, and you don’t have as much patience with details. Under these conditions, it’s probably best to wait and see. With Mercury’s move into your partnership sector today, you thrive on communicating in the weeks ahead. Others seem to rev up your thinking processes, and even if you only sometimes take their advice, you can benefit from their feedback.
Gemini
A minor challenging Mercury aspect today can make decisions a little tricky, dear Gemini. Playful or casual conversation may not work well in professional or public settings, leading to misunderstandings. There can be some scattering of mental energies. Also today, your planetary ruler, Mercury, enters your solar sixth house.
Cancer
Energies aren’t very supportive for making good, clear decisions today, dear Cancer, but you’re in good shape to play with ideas. Something or someone challenges your thinking on a matter, which can also lead you on tangents. You may need personal space or time to think. Fortunately, once you get it, you can feel far more centered.
Leo
Decisions can be challenging to come by or jumped into too quickly today, dear Leo. Either way, misinformation or overthinking can play with your head now. While your plans and ideas are big, keeping expectations realistic is best. Interests are plentiful right now, however, and that certainly does feel good.
Virgo
There can be some confusion or indecision to deal with today, dear Virgo, or frustrations communicating. However, the Moon’s move into your sector of joy points to your enjoyment of the day despite occasional misunderstandings. It’s a good time to explore your need to create and share.

Libra
Mercury leaves your sign and heads into your solar second house today, dear Libra, and will stick around until November 17th. In the period ahead, you’re thinking more often about your practical affairs or in practical terms. It’s a great time for considering improvements to business pursuits and organizing your finances.
Scorpio
The Moon heads into your solar third house today, encouraging a curious, active, and mental approach to the day, dear Scorpio. You’re paying more attention to personal interests and contacts. In fact, Mercury moves into your sign today, boosting your curiosity further. Mercury’s transit lasts until November 17th, and in the period ahead, you’re likely to keep yourself busy and crave more variety and movement in your life.
Sagittarius
The Moon heads into your solar second house, dear Sagittarius, encouraging you to stick with familiar activities. It’s a good time of the lunar month to settle in and get comfortable. Mercury enters your privacy sector today, where the Sun and Venus are currently transiting, further emphasizing your private life.
Capricorn
The Moon moves out of your privacy sector and into your sign today, dear Capricorn, and emotions come forcefully to the surface, ready to make connections. This transit encourages a focus on yourself and your emotional needs. The desire for a fresh start is strong today.
Aquarius
The Moon moves into your privacy sector today, dear Aquarius, and you gravitate to behind-the-scenes or unassuming activities today and tomorrow. Still, Mercury heads to the top of your solar chart today, where it will transit until November 17th–the most public part of your solar chart–and your goals and responsibilities are often on your mind. In the weeks ahead, your ideas or advice can be in higher demand.
Pisces
While this is not an ideal day for making decisions since you may be on the fence about more than one issue, dear Pisces, the Moon’s move into your social sector helps you take things lightly. Also today, Mercury begins its transit of your solar ninth house, stimulating your curiosity until November 17th. It’s a solid communication cycle, although it’s better for personal interests and motivation than attention to detail.

OVER R5000
Dear Patron of the Community Chest, This newsletter serves to alert you to some exciting developments taking place at the Community Chest. Post the Covid-19 pandemic, the world as we knew it has changed in many ways, some of it forever! We are having to re-invent ourselves in order to remain relevant to the changed context.
Most heartening however is the fact that despite of the Covid-19 pandemic and the social unrest in July 2021, the spirit of charitable giving remains steadfast. We are truly blessed then as a community which continues to love and care for one another.
We wish to draw your attention to 2 NEW and exciting developments that are underway at the Community Chest. Both of which, we hope, will better reflect the Community Chest’s desire to appreciate all of our donors, big and small.
1) Now licenced to conduct public fund-raising activities
As of September 2022, the Community Chest has obtained a licence (Reg. No. 00397) from the National Lotteries Commission (NLC), allowing us to raise funds for our work in the public domain, using competitions which offer rewards/prizes.
We are in the midst of piloting our very first ever public Lucky Draw Competition. For a mere R5.00, you stand the chance to win one of 3 cash prizes!
1st Draw: R5000 | 2nd Draw: R2500 | 3rd Draw: R1250
We are encouraging all businesses and corporates to assist their employees/staff to benefit from this initiative by obtaining one or more books of tickets ( each book holds 100 tickets). The draw for the winners takes place on 8 December 2022. As a business, you may even wish to donate the cost of the tickets (R500.00 only) and allocate one or more tickets to your employees/staff, as a team-building treat.
Contact Angie on 033 394 1031 or 072 791 0311 or chestpro@communitychest.org.za for more information. Also, be on the lookout for more such public fund-raising events in next year, with even bigger prizes on offer!
2) Launch of the Charitable Workers’ Club
Come April 2023, we are launching our Charitable Workers’ Club. The idea for the Club is based on our existing Workplace Giving programme.
Workplace Giving is where employees/staff at various corporates, businesses, factories and SMME’s donate on a weekly or monthly basis to the Community Chest via the payroll system or by debit order authorisation. Workplace Giving has been going on for many, many years. However, until now, the Community Chest had very little opportunity to express our appreciation to these loyal supporters in little (and big) ways.
The launch of the Charitable Workers’ Club will provide Community Chest with an appropriate mechanism by which we can communicate better with our employee/staff donors as well as appreciate them with rewards, as the opportunities allow. The Charitable Workers’ Club is NOT replacing the Workplace Giving programme.
The Club is just an extension of Workplace Giving AND joining the Club is OPTIONAL
Existing contributors to Workplace Giving who donate R5.00/ week or more or R20.00/month or more can join by simply completing a Membership Form. There are no added costs –just opportunity for more rewards from your charitable giving. In order to encourage existing contributors to join the Club, as well as invite new contributors, all signed up Club members up to 31 March 2023, will automatically be entered in the Club’s Launch Lucky Draw Competition. There is no extra charge for entry into the competition.
As long as you are a signed up member of the Club, your name/membership number will be entered into the draw. Three (3) shopping voucher prizes are up for grabs 1st Draw: R1000 | 2nd Draw: R750 | 3rd Draw: R500
If you are a decision-maker, please consider encouraging your employees/staff to take advantage of this opportunity. Going forward, we intend to create many more opportunities to give back to our loyal Workplace Giving donors, in many different ways. Club members have only more to gain and nothing to lose.
To learn more about the Charitable Workers’ Club, contact Sma on 033 394 1031 or sma@communitychest.org.za
