H.L.S.C.C. Bids Farewell to Founder

Dr. John I. Goodlad visits H.L.S.C.C. H.L.S.C.C. Participates in Caribbean Regional Council for Adult Education First Miss H.L.S.C.C. Pageant Student Affairs Dept. Formed College Acquires Sloop The Board of Governors, Executive Officers, Administrators, faculty, students and staff of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, joined the territory and the Caribbean region in mourning the sudden passing on May 14, 1995 of its founding Chairman the Hon. Hamilton Lavity Stoutt. For several days all flags flew at half-mast in memory of the College's founder and the nation's foremost leader who served his country for some 40 years as an elected representative - a record unsurpassed in the Caribbean. Both at the State Funeral for the late Chief Minister on May 24, and the Second H.L.S.C.C. Graduation Exercises weeks later, tributes poured from every comer of the social, political and academic world in honour of the outstanding life and commitment of 'The Chief. The H.L.S.C.C. family eulogised its founder's indomitable spirit and his unwavering dream of "the establishment of an institution of tertiary education which would address the human resource needs of the British Virgin Islands." This issue of INSIGHT is dedicated to his vision and the continued articulation of his dream.•
