The KCCVB works to market Knox County as a great place to live, work and play. That means supporting our partners, like Experience Mount Vernon and Downtown Merchants, to strategically leverage local amenities and events - and using insights to better understand the visitor and the visitor experience.
CITY OF MOUNT VERNON
The Knox County seat, Mount Vernon offers a diverse mix of smalltown vibes with big city experiences. Partners like, Experience Mount Vernon bring a vibrancy to downtown that keeps excitement to the streets, visitors to the shops and foodies exploring more.
Analyzing mobility data, we know people that visit Knox County come back again. In 2023, 1.3 million visited our county resulting in over 10 million visits.

The City of Mount Vernon has attractive amenities and unique offerings across the city and within the downtown corridor. Community and visitors learn about downtown events and experiences through Experience Mount Vernon, MVAC, KCCVB and the newly established Merchants Facebook page.

Previously named one of Ohio Magazine's "Best Hometowns", Mount Vernon is a city that has it all. An authentic hometown that has a flair for local arts, revitalized (and repurposed) historic neighborhoods, charming shops and award-winning restaurants; there is something for every curious explorer.
With three major performing arts venues this charming town brings big acts to their historic stages. Find yourself on Main Street every August to celebrate local artists and regional performers at the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival.
When you experience Mount Vernon, you'll find out quickly it's a city with big dreams and lots of caring hands. Home to unique entrepreneurs, hand-crafted makers and manufacturing legacies, Mount Vernon is a space for creatives forging a new path.

EVENTS OVERVIEW
Downtown Marchants leverage local amenities and events to gather the community and visitors. Events are unique, family friendly, inclusive to all merchants and utilize DORA to generate longer visits downtown. Using these insights we hope to offer insight on future event planning, marketing strategies and promotional initiatives. The figures below are a capture of the overall visitors in Downtown Mount Vernon on the day of the event(s). Although it is not scaled down to the hours, this gives a snapshot of the impact a Downtown Merchant/EMV event can have on any day or the week.
