A MARRIAGE THAT OVERCOMES ADVERSITY WITH FAITH

Love is the most tangible proof that God exists, Jocelyn and Tony Amaro assure Mujeres Visionarias.

Twelve years ago, Jocelyn Peralta Venzor and Antonio “Tony” Amaro Loya decided to unite their lives. Although today they are a strengthened marriage, they say it was not always “rosy,” as they have had to face significant challenges, which have even put their relationship to the test.

Jocelyn and Tony met 13 years ago at a basketball game in Benito Juarez town, and as if it were a “crush,” both were interested in each other. Tony’s brother, Abdiel, was the cupid, who got Jocelyn’s phone number and thus began their love story.

Both grew up in a Christian home, where their parents are a great example of faith, with whom they have a very close relationship.

They Walk Hand In Hand

Before meeting Tony, Jocelyn wanted a formal relationship, so her mother advised her to list the qualities she was looking for in a man. Among them, she said, “that he be a musician and make me laugh a lot,” qualities she found in him.

“After writing that little sheet, we prayed a prayer, and I believe that when you long for something, and God is in the middle, He fulfills your request,” said Jocelyn.

Although Tony grew up in a Christian home, in his youth, he wanted to go his own way, but when he met Jocelyn, he decided to walk with Jesus, as his parents have been his example in service and love for Jesus Christ.

After they were married, Jocelyn found out that she had a health condition, polycystic ovarian syndrome. A doctor told her that she had very little chance of getting pregnant. However, she hid that issue from her husband out of shame or fear.

When she finally revealed her secret to Tony, he told her not to worry and that they could adopt, and although they never denied the possibility, Jocelyn wanted to form a family and have a child of their own.

A Difficult Blow

Three months after that conversation, “they got pregnant,” which was a great joy for the whole family; however, soon after, the young couple faced a hard blow, as they had a miscarriage.

Tony pointed out, “I always wanted to be a dad, I felt let down by God, but today I see it as such a perfect plan because we probably weren’t ready to be parents.”

On one occasion, he attended a men’s congress Tony commented that he had not given it much importance; however, he decided to go, “it was the time when I heard God’s voice the most.”

Tony recalled that at that time, “we had a wounded heart, we were very immature, we were economically bad,”. Then “I asked for a son, and also the car of my dreams, with all the characteristics” he also made a solid commitment to God.

I Knew Something Had Happened

Jocelyn recalled with emotion that she slept very soundly that night, “I knew something had happened.” Soon after, they found out that they were expecting a child again.

Although the miscarriage was a wobble in their marriage, they made it together and now have two wonderful children, Antonio, 10, and Ailyn, 7. Currently, both serve in the ministry of the church. Jesus Christ is the Answer, Tony instructs a group of children to play instruments, and Jocelyn counsels other couples who have gone through the same situation, as well as gives young couples guidance, so they do not give up in the face of any problem or difficulty.

A Commitment To God

The Amaro couple advises asking God specifically for the things they long for but also recommends committing, “If you want a miracle, the best thing to do is to commit to God, what you are going to stop doing and what you will do in return,” said Jocelyn.

The couple recommends other tips such as certain activities, doing hobbies together, traveling and getting out of the routine, and having a moment in the day to talk and be honest with each other; also, when there are fights, talk about it at the moment, until an agreement is reached.

The young wife said that there should never be blows, offenses, not even playing, and if there were to be offenses in the past, there must be forgiveness; with God’s help, the wounds will heal.
