ienvenidas al mes de abril, donde nos tocará reflexionar sobre la fe, la cual creo, ahora más que nunca hace falta fortalecer, al igual que nuestra esperanza en Dios. Para ello es importante crecer, y que mejor que la Pascua para hacerlo, pues es un tiempo de enseñanza espiritual, en la que, en lugar de estancarnos y dejar de alimentar nuestro espíritu, podemos nutrirnos a través de los artículos que aquí ofrecemos. Invitarte a leer es como contribuimos con tu crecimiento espiritual. Además, abril es el mes en el que en México celebramos a los niños, por lo que en Visionarias estamos conscientes de la importancia de su crecimiento en todas las áreas, entre ellas las físicas y las espirituales. Así que gracias por acompañarnos en esta nueva edición, que como siempre será de mucha bendición para tu aprendizaje y crecimiento. LA PASCUA? NO SÓLO NOS RECUERDA LA LIBERACIÓN DEL PUEBLO DE EGIPTO, TAMBIÉN ES UN MENSAJE DE ESPERANZA Y OBEDIENCIA POR ARACELI CÉSAR ISUNZA

n Éxodo 12 encontramos el origen de la Pascua ordenada por Dios a su pueblo como una celebración y recordatorio de que él los liberó de la esclavitud de Egipto (por 400 años), evento que Israel ha venido celebrando por siglos. Sin embargo, en el Nuevo Testamento habla de la Pascua a través de la visión de Jesús. En el Evangelio de Mateo 26 está la descripción de cómo fue celebrada como un recordatorio ahora para nosotros. Como, ese pan y vino iban a representar el cuerpo quebrantado de Jesús en la cruz para traer verdadera libertad aquí en la tierra y la eternidad, dando instruc-

ciones claras a sus íntimos de lo que le iba a acontecer, incluyendo al traidor (a quien descubrió, para llamarlo al arrepentimiento), quien no le quitó su paz y confianza en el propósito del Señor, dejando también un ejemplo de sometimiento y obediencia al Padre y su plan. Y aunque era su última Pascua, dejó ejemplo a seguir: Estar preparados para enfrentar prueba, dolor, sufrimiento y muerte, además de firmes en cumplir el propósito de Dios, así como estar tranquilos, aunque esté la opresión espiritual. También habló de dar palabras de esperanza que fortalezcan y cada vez que se celebra la cena del Señor, recordar con corazón agradecido su gran entrega de Amor. Jesús es nuestra Pascua.

In Exodus 12, we find the origin of the Passover commanded by God to his people as a celebration and reminder that he freed them from slavery in Egypt (for 400 years), an event that Israel has been celebrating for centuries. However, the New Testament speaks of Passover through the vision of Jesus. The Gospel of Matthew 26 describes how it was celebrated as a reminder to us now, how that bread and wine were to represent the broken body of Jesus on the cross to bring true freedom here on earth and eternity, giving clear instructions to his intimates of what was to befall him, including the betrayer (whom he discovered, to call him to repentance), who did not take away his peace and trust in the Lord’s purpose, also leaving an example of submission and obedience to the Father and his plan. And although it was his last Passover, he left an example to follow: To be prepared to face trial, pain, suffering and death, as well as steadfast in fulfilling God’s purpose, as well as to be at ease, even though spiritual oppression is present. He also spoke of giving words of hope that strengthen, and every time the Lor’s Supper is celebrated, remember with a grateful heart his great giving of Love. Jesus is our Passover.

GROWING IN STATURE AND GRACE Discover the process in which we, daughters of God, must move forward. The entire life of Jesus, even in his childhood, is of excellent teaching for us; even the moments narrated in the scriptures about the early age of our Lord are a great encouragement to the infants of our generation. As mothers, we focus on being intentional so that our children are formed to grow up physically and spiritually healthy; this point is essential to the extent that each of them finds grace before all those around them, especially before God. But how and what can we learn from Jesus’ early life on earth? Growing in knowledge and grace always has to do with the process in which the children of God must advance. A method of strength, of intimate relationship with him, of obedience to his word and principles that come to form a way of life in each of us. In this sense, to grow simply means “to increase,” that is to say, where the stature of our faith, our surrender, our commitment and our obedience is, we increase the potential, and our spiritual stature grows. So, it is vital for our next generation that we are women who grow in maturity and faith, and at the same time, we can have the grace that pleases God, and that attracts many to his feet. Understand that we are critical pieces for the new generations to please God’s heart, which will be a tremendous blessing. So let us insist on growing our spiritual stature through the grace that has been granted to us.

Crecer en ESTATURA Y GRACIA DESCUBRE EL PROCESO EN EL QUE LAS HIJAS DE DIOS DEBEMOS AVANZAR POR ANGÉLICA SOSA

a vida entera de Jesús, aun en su niñez, es de gran enseñanza para nosotros, incluso los momentos narrados en las escrituras sobre la temprana edad de nuestro Señor son una gran motivación para los infantes de nuestra generación. Como madres nos enfocamos en ser intencionales para que nuestros hijos sean formados de manera que puedan crecer sanos física y espiritualmente, este punto es importante al grado de que cada uno de ellos encuentre gracia delante de todos los que les rodean, especialmente delante de Dios. Pero ¿cómo y qué podemos aprender de la temprana vida de Jesús sobre la tierra? Crecer en conocimiento y gracia siempre tiene que ver con el proceso en el que los hijos de Dios debemos avan-

zar. Proceso de fortaleza, de relación íntima con él, de obediencia a su palabra y principios que llegan a formar un estilo de vida en cada una de nosotras. En este sentido, crecer simplemente significa “aumentar”, es decir, donde esté la estatura de nuestra fe, de nuestra entrega, de nuestro compromiso y obediencia, aumentamos el potencial y crece nuestra estatura espiritual. Así es que, es vital para nuestra siguiente generación, que seamos mujeres que crecen en madurez y fe, y al mismo tiempo que podamos tener la gracia que a Dios le agrada y que atrae a muchos a sus pies. Entender que cada una de nosotras somos piezas claves para que las nuevas generaciones agraden el corazón de Dios, lo cual será una bendición maravillosa. Así que insistamos en hacer crecer nuestra estatura espiritual por medio de la gracia que nos ha sido concedida.

Malos hábitos DE LA PAREJA

CONVIERTE LAS MALAS ACCIONES DE TU MATRIMONIO EN BUENAS COSTUMBRES QUE AYUDEN EN EL VIVIR DIARIO POR XÓCHITL C. ZÚÑIGA DE HERNÁNDEZ

l conocer sobre cualquier tema referente al matrimonio es importante, ya que como pareja siempre estaremos en el proceso de aprendizaje. Siempre será bueno que leamos, escuchemos o veamos temas relacionados a cómo estar mejorando y enriqueciendo nuestra relación. En este artículo tocaremos un punto muy importante y cotidiano en los matrimonios, los malos hábitos en la pareja. Primero expliquemos que un hábito, es una acción que repetimos frecuentemente, la cual puede ser una costumbre, una actitud, una conducta o el comportamiento que realizamos voluntariamente.

Los hábitos los adquirimos con la repetición, hasta que los hacemos nuestros en el diario vivir, estos pueden ser buenos o malos y llegan a afectar la salud en lo físico, mental, emocional y lo social. Al llegar al matrimonio cada uno ya tenía sus propios hábitos y al pasar el tiempo se van adquiriendo otros de manera conjunta. Algunos de esos malos hábitos en la pareja son descuidar nuestro régimen alimenticio como pareja, dejar de ser detallista el uno al otro, dormir a destiempo, es decir, irse a dormir en diferentes horas como pareja y faltarse al respeto al hablarse con sarcasmo.

MÁS A FONDO Quiero explicar un poco más algunas cosas no mencionadas en la anterior lista, por ejemplo, la tecnología ha dejado muchos avances en las comunicaciones, pero hablando de malos hábitos en la pareja no ha sido tan buena. Algunos matrimonios debido a sus tiempos de trabajo sólo tienen una oportunidad al día de sentarse a comer juntos, por lo general es en la cena, y este tiempo es tan desaprovechado por el mal hábito de sentarse a la mesa con el celular para estarlo revisando a cada momento. El tiempo de la comida o cena puede ser un excelente momento para platicar temas de interés de ambos, pero llega a ser tan desaprovechado por permitir que el celular también se siente con nosotros. Otro mal hábito relacionado con el tiempo de comida es cuando cada uno toma su plato y se va a su sillón a ver la televisión, sumergidos en sus propios pensamientos, dejando de ser el tiempo de comer un buen tiempo para platicar. ¿Cuáles son sus malos hábitos para ustedes como pareja? ¿cómo podríamos ir quitando esos malos hábitos en nuestra relación matrimonial? Lo primero está en reconocer y aceptar que estamos mal al realizarlos y que muy probablemente nos traerán consecuencias. Si estos malos hábitos fueron adquiridos a base de repetición pues hagamos lo contrario hasta que se vuelvan un buen hábito, como el realizar actividades que los sustituyan. Como pareja debemos apoyarnos para ir dejándolos juntos, motivándolos uno al otro y no reprochado si llegamos a fallar en no cumplirlo. Podemos ir haciendo acuerdos que nos ayuden a ir cambiando uno a uno costumbres, el platicar de los avances que vamos teniendo nos motivará para seguir adelante.

It is essential to learn about any topic related to marriage since, as a couple, we will always be in the process of learning. It will always be good to read, listen or watch topics related to how to improve and enrich our relationship. In this article, we will touch on an essential and daily point in marriages, the bad habits of the couple. First, let’s explain that a habit is an action that we frequently repeat, a pattern, an attitude, conduct or behavior that we perform voluntarily. Habits are acquired with repetition until we make them ours in our daily lives; these can be good or bad and affect our physical, mental, emotional, and social health. When we get married, each of us already has our habits, and as time goes by, we acquire others together. Some of these bad habits are neglecting our diet as a couple, stopping being detailed to each other, sleeping at the wrong time, that is to say, going to sleep at different times as a couple, and disrespecting each other by speaking sarcastically to each other. So are not being interested in the couple’s daily situations, not communicating correctly, not saying thank you when you receive a benefit from the other, talking badly about them, sleeping late at night because you are watching TV, computer or cell phone, not showing love, making the law of ice when we get angry and falling into a routine, among many others.

MORE IN-DEPTH I want to explain a little more about some things not mentioned in the previous list; for example, technology has left many advances in communications, but talking about bad habits in the couple has not been so good. Some married couples, due to their work times, only have one opportunity a day to sit down to eat together; usually, it is at dinner, and this time is so wasted by the bad habit of sitting at the table with a cell phone to be checking it at every moment. Lunch or dinner time can be an excellent time to talk about topics of interest

Another bad habit related to mealtime is when everyone takes their plate and goes to their couch to watch TV, immersed in their thoughts, leaving mealtime an excellent time to talk. We can mention another horrible habit, communicating with our partner only by WhatsApp messages and not taking the time to make a call during the day to say hello or know how they are, added to the fact that the messages are only emojis or small phrases, leaving aside sending a beautiful thought that makes them feel that I think of them during the day. What are your bad habits for you as a couple? How can we eliminate these bad habits in our marital relationship? The first thing is to recognize and accept that we are doing them wrong and that they will most likely have consequences. If these bad habits were acquired through repetition, let’s do the opposite until they become a good habit, such as doing activities that replace them. As a couple, we should support each other to leave them together, motivating each other and not reproached if we fail to comply. We can make agreements that help us change habits one by one; talking about our progress will motivate us to move forward. But undoubtedly, something that will help us as a couple change our habits is to go to God, pray together, and ask for the Lord’s help and direction in our lives; he will give us that help to transform our habits. Remember, talk to God and your partner about what is best for your lives in terms of habits.

a Biblia nos narra en Lucas capítulo 2 que cuando Jesús tenía 12 años, se quedó en el templo de Jerusalén. Él estaba sentado en medio de los doctores de la ley, hablándoles y preguntándoles, y todos los que le oían, se maravillaban de su inteligencia y de sus respuestas. Este capítulo finaliza en el verso 52 que dice lo siguiente: “Y Jesús crecía en sabiduría y en estatura, y en gracia para con Dios y los hombres”. El tiempo gramatical del verbo “crecía” indica una acción habitual, es decir, Jesús constantemente estaba aumentando su sabiduría (su temor a Dios), físicamente en estatura como alguien propio de su edad y gracia. Podemos decir entonces que el crecimiento físico, emocional y psicológico tienen un desarrollo constante. La vida está llena de altibajos, de

temporadas y de aprendizaje, el qué hacemos con eso sólo depende de nosotros. Ciertamente dejar la temporada de la niñez quizá no te parezca tan emocionante o tal vez tu quisieras ser más grande. Sea cual sea tu caso, debes de saber que cada etapa conlleva su crecimiento, no las podemos retrasar porque te estancarías y tan poco las podemos adelantar porque tal vez vivirías cosas que te sobrepasan. Hay otros casos, en los que las circunstancias nos van a forzar a crecer prematuramente por las diferentes situaciones que vivamos, pero confía en que cada proceso que vivas, Jesús estará contigo y serás victorioso si inclinas tu oído para escuchar y obedecer. Ten ánimo, pues, aunque nuestro alrededor parezca complicado y abrumador, las promesas de Dios para tu vida permanecen firmes e inmutables. ¡El futuro sigue siendo brillante pues Dios nunca deja de ser Dios!

The Bible tells us in Luke chapter 2 that when Jesus was 12 years old, he stayed in the temple in Jerusalem. He was sitting among the doctors of the law, speaking to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him marveled at his intelligence and answers. This chapter ends in verse 52, which reads as follows: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” The grammatical tense of the verb “grew” indicates a habitual action; that is, Jesus was constantly increasing in wisdom (his fear of God), physically in stature as someone proper to his age and grace. We can say then that physical, emotional and psychological growth is constantly developing. Life is full of ups and downs, seasons and learning; what we do with that is only up to us. Indeed, leaving the season of childhood may not seem so exciting to you, or maybe you wish you were older. Whatever your case may be, you should know that each stage entails its growth; we cannot delay them because you would stagnate, and we can’t advance them because maybe you would live things that would surpass you. There are other cases in which circumstances will force us to grow prematurely because of the different situations. Still, trust that in every process you live, Jesus will be with you, and you will be victorious if you incline your ear to listen and obey. Be encouraged, for even though our surroundings seem complicated and overwhelming, God’s promises for your life remain firm and unchanging. The future remains bright, for God never ceases to be God!

SUS PLANES SON PERFECTOS Tal vez esa búsqueda y el sentirse amada por Jesucristo fue lo que le dio la fuerza para salir adelante luego de la muerte de dos de las mujeres que más han marcado su vida, su madre Josefina y su hermana Peggy, lo cual luego de reflexionar supo que era la oportunidad para seguir conociendo a Dios.

“Él hace las cosas de una forma que no lo estructuraría yo así, pero al final de cuentas sus planes, como dice su palabra, son buenos, son agradables y son perfectos”. Y dentro de los planes que Jesús tenía para ella fue volver a lo que más ama, la música, por lo que el pasado mes de marzo lanzó “Nos volveremos a abrazar”, una canción de Edna Gil que ya está disponible en todas las plataformas digitales. “Es una canción muy actual que habla de la fragilidad del ser humano”, la cual vino a intensificarse con la pandemia. María del Sol nos cuenta que esta canción tiene una letra que sale de un lugar común, “donde caben muchísimas personas, donde caben papás, mamás, hijos, amigos, compañeros de trabajo, y donde al final nos volveremos a abrazar, porque tengo esa esperanza, la cual sólo da Cristo… es una esperanza alentadora”. A la par, la cantante también se encuentra en su etapa final dentro del concepto de Grandiosas, donde comparte escenario con un grupo de artistas de los años 80 que ha tenido gran éxito en toda la República mexicana, un proyecto del que se está despidiendo “porque Dios me está cambiando los planes personales”, asegura quien también se convirtió en abuela hace 10 meses, sumando este acontecimiento a la serie de emociones que ha venido experimentando. Por último, María del Sol nos invita a escuchar su nueva música, así como la palabra de Dios, de quien ella aún trata de comprender el propósito que tiene para su vida, pues si de algo está segura es que los cambios que él tiene para ella todavía no han terminado.

DE LOS NIÑOS PRODIGIO ADEMÁS DE MANTENERLOS EN FORMA, LA GIMNASIA CREA A SERES HUMANOS DISCIPLINADOS Y COMPROMETIDOS CON LO QUE QUIEREN POR SANDRA ROCÍO CHÁVEZ Amable, platicadora y muy divertida es como se puede describir a Socorro Balderrama, una mujer entregada a sus hijos, las causas a favor de los animales y sobre todos a “sus niños”, a quienes entrena − junto a un grupo de expertos− en gimnasia olímpica, a la cual se ha dedicado desde hace 32 años. En esta ocasión, Socorro cuenta a Visionarias la importancia del deporte en los menores y como esta actividad les ayuda a desarrollar el carácter y les enseña sobre el compromiso.

BENEFICIOS Además de que los menores están activos y no adoptan un estilo de vida sedentario, la gimnasia los mantiene en forma y saludables; mejora en ellos sus habilidades en cuanto a fuerza, flexibilidad, velocidad, equilibrio y coordinación, y tal vez lo más importante, es que crea a seres humanos competitivos y comprometidos con lo que hacen, nos cuenta la entrenadora de Unlimited Gymnastics. “Ellos tienen que estar conscientes de que es un deporte de retos, tienen que comprometerse, tienen que ser disciplinados en cuanto a su asistencia, su alimentación”, dice Socorro, quien agrega que si un niño tiene talento hay que ayudar a que lo maximice, pues si no se hace, el talento se muere.

CUESTIÓN DE ACTITUD Soco, como la llaman sus alumnos y entrenadores, asegura que, para practicar gimnasia, lo único que se necesita es actitud, característica con la que cuentan todos los niños y niñas que en este gimnasio se desarrollan para ser los próximos exponentes mundiales de la disciplina, para lo cual pueden comenzar a trabajar desde los 4

años, obviamente de la mano de entrenadores certificados, como los siete que ella tiene bajo su mando, entre ellos Fernando García, Yunuen Puente y Edwin Núñez.

CRECE INTERÉS DE LOS VARONES Hablando de actitud, Socorro también nos comenta que, en años recientes, son los niños quienes están más interesados en este deporte, por lo que ahora son 18 de ellos quienes van diariamente a entrenar, lo cual agradece a los padres pues debido a su apoyo han logrado sobresalir en las diversas competencias a las que asisten. “Ahorita los papás ya no tienen tantos tabúes, ya no dicen ‘es que la gimnasia es para niñas’, no, ellos ya están viendo que la gimnasia no es exclusiva, ven videos de deportistas, sobre todo el físico que se les forma a los niños gimnastas… hemos evolucionado mucho”, comenta esta mujer visionaria.

‘SUS NIÑOS’ Entre el grupo de deportistas que hacen de Unlimited Gymnastics un lugar exitoso se encuentran Isabela Chávez y Andrés Flores, ambos de 11 años de edad, y quienes han ganado ya varias medallas gracias a su talento, entrenamiento y esfuerzo que dedican para ser los mejores. Isabela cuenta que practica gimnasia desde que tiene 7 años, y que su inquietud comenzó gracias a las olimpiadas que veía en televisión. Por su parte Andrés asegura que fue su mamá quien vio en él cierta flexibilidad que le permitiría destacar, lo cual así sucedió. Es un regalo que él nos da, un hogar que compartimos con el resto de la creación, sin embargo, este regalo conlleva una responsabilidad, más allá de la que tienen las personas que se dedican a analizar el deterioro de ella y de buscar la manera de cuidar nuestro planeta, de preservarla para las generaciones futuras. La orden de “gobernar” la tierra significa que tenemos la obligación de cuidarla no sólo de tener autoridad absoluta sobre ella, pues la naturaleza es un recurso del que todos los humanos nos beneficiamos por eso evitemos abusar de ella.

Las inversiones deben hacerse de la abundancia y no de los recursos necesarios para la familia o un negocio. Creemos que si invertimos saldremos de nuestros problemas financieros más rápido, eso se parece mucho a jugar a la lotería y es un error. Antes de invertir necesitamos alcanzar dos metas principales: tener control en nuestro presupuesto y ahorrar. adre de familia, esposa y profesionista, Fabiola Luna se las arregla como toda mujer para cumplir eficientemente con todos los roles de su vida, incluyendo uno fuera de lo común: la de ser la voz de 220 empresas y más de 250 mil empleados de la industria

de la transformación en esta frontera. Fabiola preside la Asociación de Maquiladoras, Index Juárez, organismo que agrupa a las empresas que conforman el principal motor económico de la frontera y que está siempre pendiente de aspectos económicos y sociales que afectan a sus agremiados y sus empleados. “Hay veces que dices ‘no sé cómo se acomodan las cosas´, así que tiene que ser ayuda divina”, afirma la experta fiscal que encuentra en su fe la fortaleza para cumplir con un rol tan demandante a la par de sus ocupaciones laborales y familiares. Con más de 20 años de experiencia en el plano laboral, Fabiola es licenciada en Contaduría por el Instituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Juárez y cuenta con una maestría en Derecho Fiscal por la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, y durante su carrera en la industria maquiladora ha estado en puestos claves en materia de impuestos y recursos financieros. Fabiola comenzó su participación en Index como parte del Comité de Impuestos en el 2013, como una actividad que se propuso tener para mantenerse actualizada y sumar fuerza femenina al organismo que hasta ahora ha sido presidida por cinco mujeres, incluida ella. “Siempre me ha gustado participar en otras actividades fuera de mi trabajo”, dice la Directora de Finanzas de Auto- Kabel, una empresa del ramo automotriz. La industria maquiladora en Juárez está conformada por alrededor de 300 empresas que generan empleos a más de 320 mil personas, poco más de la mitad de ellas del sexo femenino, de ahí la importancia de que este sector poblacional esté representado equitativamente tanto en los organismos laborales como gubernamentales, opina. “Cuando me involucré éramos dos o tres mujeres consejeras, ahora la mitad de mi Consejo Directivo son mujeres”, añade orgullosa. Fabiola afirma que cuando ella comenzó a participar en Index, el resto de las mujeres con las que coincidía estaban dedicadas a áreas relacionadas con los Recursos Humanos, situación que ha ido cambiando, ya que se ha logrado la inclusión de Gerentes de Planta, Gerentes de Operaciones y otros roles, que han aportado visiones más amplias de las necesidades de las mujeres en la industria. Afortunadamente, señala, la participación de las mujeres se ha incrementado no sólo en el sector industrial sino también en el Gobierno, cuestión que en su punto de vista ha facilitado el acercamiento entre ambos bandos. Además del reto de encontrar un balance entre su familia, el trabajo e Index, Fabiola se

ha enfrentado a situaciones inéditas durante su gestión como líder, ya que según relata, se estrenó como dirigente maquilador con la crisis generada por la nevada que dejó sin energía eléctrica y servicio de gas natural a toda la ciudad en febrero del 2021. “De pronto fue buscar contactos para buscar el restablecimiento de servicios y dar explicaciones a los medios”, cuenta Fabiola mientras recuerda el capítulo más reciente del paro de actividades de toda la industria de la transformación local. Pero su actividad dista mucho de sólo manejar crisis, es el vínculo entre las empresas y sus colaboradores ante gobiernos locales y hasta internacionales para situaciones laborales, fiscales, de infraestructura y de salud, como ocurrió a mediados del 2021, cuando Index se convirtió en uno de los principales organizadores de la campaña de vacunación contra el COVID-19 en el puente Internacional de Tornillo, donde se vacunaron más de 33 mil personas, la mayoría de ellas empleados de maquiladoras. “Estar al frente de Index ha sido una gran responsabilidad y un gran trabajo de equipo”, afirma Luna. Ayudar al combate de la pandemia ha sido una actividad de gran orgullo para ella, pero en sus metas más importantes se encuentra contribuir a mejorar la imagen de la industria maquiladora en Juárez. “La maquila es un negocio pero tiene muchas bondades, como el tema de responsabilidad social”, dice Fabiola al reflexionar sobre todas las obras en favor de la comunidad que realizan las empresas de este sector productivo. “Quiero contribuir a que la imagen de la industria sea más positiva”. Cumplir esa meta requerirá como hasta ahora de una eficiente relación con los gobiernos, pero también del apoyo de su familia, prioridad para ella. “Tengo el apoyo de mi familia, de mi esposo que afortunadamente sigue en home office, lo cual es una ventaja que me ha ayudado mucho”, dice la madre de dos niños que en equipo con su marido ha enfrentado la educación a distancia y otras muchas aristas de la pandemia. “Todo se ha ido acomodando. Cuando estoy en momentos de estrés tomo aire y pido iluminación divina para tomar la mejor decisión”, concluye la líder del sector industrial juarense.

LEADING IN CHALLENGING TIMES Fabiola Luna, president of Index Juárez, brings together 220 companies and gives voice to 250 thousand workers from Juárez Mother of a family, wife and professional, Fabiola Luna manages like any other woman to efficiently fulfill all the roles in her life, including one out of the ordinary: that of being the voice of 220 companies and more than 250 thousand employees in the transformation industry on this border. Fabiola presides over the Maquiladora Association, Index Juarez, an organization that brings together the companies that make up the main economic engine of the border and is always aware of economic and social aspects that affect its members and their employees. “There are times when you say ‘I don’t know how things work out,’ so it has to be divine help,” says the tax expert, who finds in her faith the strength to fulfill such a demanding role alongside her work and family responsibilities. With more than 20 years of experience in the labor field, Fabiola has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Instituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Juárez and a Master’s degree in Tax Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. During her career in the maquiladora industry, she has held key tax and financial resources positions. Fabiola began her participation in Index as part of the Tax Committee in 2013, as an activity she set out to have to keep herself updated and add female strength to the organization that five women, including herself, have so far chaired. “I have always liked to participate in other activities outside of my work,” says the CFO of Auto- Kabel, a company in the automotive industry. The maquiladora industry in Juarez is made up of around 300 companies that generate employment for more than 320,000 people, a little more than half of them women; hence the importance of this sector of the population is fairly represented in both labor and governmental bodies, she says. “When I got involved, we were two or three women board members, now half of my Board of Directors are women,” she adds proudly. Fabiola says that when she started in Index, the rest of the women she met were dedicated to areas related to Human Resources. This situation has been changing with the inclusion of Plant Managers, Operations Managers and other roles, which

have provided broader visions of the needs of women in the industry. Fortunately, she points out that women’s participation has increased not only in the industrial sector but also in the government, an issue that, in her view, has facilitated the rapprochement between both sides. In addition to the challenge of finding a balance between her family, work and Index, Fabiola has faced unprecedented situations; as she relates, she made her debut with the crisis generated by the snowfall that left the entire city without electricity and natural gas service in February 2021. “Suddenly, he was looking for contacts to seek the reestablishment of services and give explanations to the media,” Fabiola says while recalling the most recent chapter of the work stoppage of the entire local processing industry. But her activity is far from just handling crises; she is the link between companies and their collaborators with local and even international governments for labor, tax, infrastructure and health situations, as happened in mid-2021. Index became one of the main organizers of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 at the Tornillo International Bridge, where more than 33 thousand people were vaccinated, most of them maquiladora employees. “Being at the helm of Index has been a great responsibility and a great team effort,” says Luna. Helping to fight the pandemic has been a very proud activity for her, but among her most important goals is to improve the image of the maquiladora industry in Juarez. “The maquila is a business, but it has many good things, such as the issue of social responsibility,” says Fabiola as she reflects on all the works in favor of the community that companies in this productive sector carry out. “I want to contribute to a more positive image of the industry.” Fulfilling that goal will require, as it has, an efficient relationship with governments; and the support of her family, a priority for her. “I have the support of my family, of my husband who fortunately is still in-home; office, which has helped me a lot,” says the mother of two children who, as a team with her husband, has faced distance education and many other edges of the pandemic. “Everything has been falling into place. When I am in moments of stress, I take a breath and ask for divine enlightenment to make the best decision,” concludes the leader of the industrial sector of Juarez.
