JULY 2018 - The arrival of summer on the West Coast is a time of celebration, an opportunity to discover and re-discover the delights of one of the premier locations in the world, and to recognize why so many desire to make Metro Vancouver their home.

2018, reports the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. Home buyers are also seeing moderate price increases after more than two years of steady acceleration. The benchmark price for homes in May was up less than 0.5 per cent from a month earlier.

Each year, close to 40,000 people now move into British Columbia, both from other parts of Canada and from around the world. The vast majority of these newcomers settle, naturally, in Metro Vancouver, the economic and cultural hub of the province.

“For home sellers to be successful in today’s market, it’s important to price your property competitively given the shifting dynamics we’re experiencing,” said Phil Moore, president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. “It’s also important to work with your local Realtor to better understand these changing conditions.”

This rising tide of new arrivals underscores the fundamentals of a strong economy, high job growth and superb infrastructure that have created one of the world’s top housing markets. And, for the many who aspire to own a home in Metro Vancouver, this summer represents a window of opportunity. The inventory of homes for sale is now at the highest level in two years with a great selection of detached houses, townhouses and condominium apartments.
