Launches A New Education Program
T
he Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has expanded their education program offerings. As part of The Shakespeare Theatre Academy, the Theatre is offering youth and adult classes in disciplines connected with classic theatre beginning this month. The classes will be held once a week, and will be taught by the Theatre’s renowned artistic and educational staff. The expanded schedule now includes classes in swordplay, unarmed stage combat, classic scene study for adults only and scene study for teens 14-18 years-of-age. Classes for the spring semester begin this month and are open to actors of all experience levels. “Whether a student is taking his or first theatre class or this experience is just one step
on an ever-evolving theatrical journey, The Shakespeare Theatre Academy provides compelling, enriching and fun opportunities for the artist in everyone,” Director of Education Brian B. Crowe stated. Students will receive individualized attention due to the small class sizes, and Crowe himself will be teaching two introductory classes in scene study. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is located on the campus of Drew University at 36 Madison Ave. in Madison. The Shakespeare Theatre Academy is located at the Theatre’s support facility at 3 Vreeland Road in Florham Park. The Theatre and Academy can be reached at 973-845-6739 or by visiting www.shakespearenj.org.
