After last year’s third edition was marked by extreme weather that forced changes to four of the five courses, it is fantastic to see so many of you return for 2025. This year over 6,000 runners are registered to take on the Wildstrubel adventure. Thank you for your trust – we hope the weather will be kinder this time. That said, trail running is an outdoor adventure, immersed in nature and often in challenging alpine conditions. Your safety will always come first, and every runner should be fully aware of this when signing up.
Whether you’re taking on the full Wildstrubel loop from Crans-Montana (Wild 110), the three-quarter loop from Kandersteg (Wild 70), the half-loop from Adelboden (Wild 50), the quarter-loop from Loèche-les-Bains/Leukerbad (Wild 25), the Wild 10, or the brand-new Wild NextGen children’s race, the Handi-Sport race or the Joëlette challenge, we promise to take you on an exceptional journey around the Wildstrubel massif.
Discover world-renowned destinations, tackle demanding trails, and soak up the vibrant culture of Valais and the Bernese Oberland.
For months our passionate and determined organising team has worked to create an exceptional race experience. Our goal is for this 4th edition of Wildstrubel by UTMB to be a true celebration of trail running – sporting, welcoming, authentic and festive!
A huge thank you to the local organising committee, 20 checkpoint managers, 400 volunteers, our five partner destinations (Crans-Montana, Loèche-les-Bains/Leukerbad, Kandersteg, Adelboden and Lenk), the cantons of Valais and Bern, and our many sponsors and local service providers.
WE WISH YOU ALL A MEMORABLE RACE, RICH IN EMOTIONS AND SUCCESS.
Ryan Baumann, Race Director
On behalf of the entire organising committee
DISCOVER THE ASSOCIATIONS
In the heart of Valais we are driven by a shared commitment to helping every individual achieve their own personal victories.
That’s why 100 Charity Bibs are made available to runners, offering you the chance to make a donation to the UTMB Cares endowment fund, which will then redistribute the proceeds to the associations selected for this edition.
In addition to Charity Bibs, all runners have the option to make a donation during registration.
In 2025 the following projects will be supported: Sport Handicap Sierre Académie de Trail Valais What’s Life Project Cap sur toi
Donations will be shared equally between these four organisations.
Uniting trail runners, both elite and amateur alike, through the leading international events in the most stunning locations.
The UTMB® World Series gives all trail runners the chance to experience UTMB® adventure across the world, discovering cultures and sharing trails as they start their quest towards the UTMB® World Series Finals at the pinnacle HOKA UTMB® MontBlanc.
The mythic HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc is the world’s most well-known and revered trail running event on the planet.
In the heart of the Alps, the prestigious UTMB World Series Finals are held in 3 categories: the OCC (50K), CCC® (100K) and UTMB® (100M) every year at the end of August in Chamonix, France.
Four UTMB World Series Majors, are held each year across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Oceania regions.
Collect double the amount of Running Stones compared to other UTMB World Series Events for the UTMB World Series Finals lottery. In total, 210 runners are also granted automatic qualification for the UTMB World Series Finals through each Major. This includes age-group category winners and the top 10 male and female runners in the 100M, 100K and 50K categories.
Get the UTMB experience closer to home. Built on a passion for the mountains, with sustainability at its heart, UTMB World Series Events, gives all trail runners the chance to experience the UTMB adventure while showcasing the unique aspects that each race destination offers at over 50 Events around the world.
Earn Running Stones by completing races in the 20K, 50K, 100K, or 100M categories at any UTMB World Series Event or Major.
Running Stones are cumulative and never expire, so you can collect as many as you like over time.
You’ll need just 1 Running Stone from the past two years to qualify for the Finals lottery.
Each Running Stone gives you an extra chance to be selected in the lottery.
Start your journey, gather your Running Stones, and unlock the path to the UTMB World Series Finals!
The UTMB Index measures a runner’s performance across four race categories: 20K, 50K, 100K, and 100M , as well as an overall score.
IT’S ESSENTIAL FOR:
Entering the UTMB World Series Finals lottery (with at least 1 Running Stone).
Defining your start wave to ensure the best race experience.
Exclusive Race Access:
You benefit from a 48-hour priority registration to UTMB World Series Events. And for some 100K and 100M events require a valid UTMB Index for safety or lottery pre-registration.
Your UTMB Index is based on your top 5 race results (weighted for recency and performance) over the last 36 months. At least 1 valid race result in the past 24 months is required for a valid UTMB Index.
With over 6,000 races worldwide they are plenty of opportunities to boost your UTMB Index.

From the outset, Wildstrubel by UTMB® has been firmly committed to protecting both the natural environment and the local communities that bring the event to life.
Here are just some of the concrete actions we’ve put in place:
• Local food trucks in partnership with CransMontana restaurateurs
• ‘La Marmotte’ craft beer, brewed locally in Crans-Montana
• Aid station supplies sourced locally and, where possible, are organic
• Reusable tableware for all post-race meals and throughout the finish village
• Comprehensive waste-sorting systems, including cardboard, glass, PET, aluminium and general waste
• Tap water at aid stations to minimise singleuse plastic bottles
• Group transport options to reduce individual car use
• Wooden trophies handmade by a local artisan
• Gift baskets filled with regional specialities
Since 2006 UTMB Group has implemented a Bring Your Own Utensils (BYOU) policy, with a reusable cup included in the mandatory kit list. From 2018 onwards, runners have also been required to carry their own cutlery and bowl for meals. These rules apply to all Wildstrubel by UTMB runners. No tableware – disposable or otherwise – will be provided.
Rubbish bags will be provided at bib collection to help you carry your waste between aid stations – including used loo paper, fruit peels, empty gel wrappers, and food packaging.
Rechargeable batteries are strongly recommended. If you must use single-use batteries, please do not discard them on the trails – dedicated collection containers will be available at aid stations.
Leave no trace. Any environmental damage will result in time penalties.
LThe Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB races are all races which take place in open country, in mountainous terrain, with some remote areas and weather conditions which can change very fast even in early July (snow, hail, fog, heat (>30°) or intense cold (<-10°), violent wind).
Wildstrubel by UTMB® takes place in the high-mountains, where terrain is rugged, sections can be isolated, and access to roads or mobile coverage is limited. Weather conditions can change very quickly – even in September – bringing snow, hail, fog, intense heat (above 30°C) or severe cold (below -10°C), sometimes combined with strong winds.
On-course safety reminders:
Advice along the route:
• Avoid stopping on exposed ridges or summits.
• If you lose sight of course markings, turn back to the last visible marker.
• Always remain on the marked trails.
Do not stop at high points. If you lose sight of the way-markers: turn round and go back to the previous marker. Stay on the paths.
Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather conditions:
Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat. Don’t wait to shiver before covering yourself up. Don’t change in full wind: anticipate or wait to be sheltered.
Mandatory kit is essential for your safety and to ensure fairness. Random checks will take place in the start area, at aid stations and at the finish. Please support volunteers and race officials by cooperating fully.
Protect yourself against the sun.
Poles: Use caution, especially in the early stages of the race when the field is dense. Do not use pole straps on descents – in the event of a fall, they can prevent you from bracing yourself and lead to injuries to your shoulders, wrists, forearms and head.
Walking poles: Watch what you do with your poles particularly when there are lots of runners around. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands. If you choose to take them, you must take them for the whole race.
Stay ahead of your hydration and energy needs, and adjust to changing weather conditions. Ensure regular salt intake and a good balance of slow-release carbohydrates, and quick sugars to sustain your effort from start to finish.
Hydration and the consumption of energising snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars. FATIGUE ET VIGILANCE
Dedicated rest areas are available at aid stations for short breaks or naps. Never stop alone in remote areas to sleep – it is dangerous. Fatigue and reduced alertness are common causes of accidents. Pace yourself wisely, particularly in the opening stages of the race, to keep enough energy in reserve for unexpected challenges such as sudden weather changes.
Rest areas are available at aid stations for a few moments sleep. It is dangerous to stop to sleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can be the cause of an accident. Run within your limits (especially on the first half) keeping your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise such as a sudden change of weather conditions.
Every runner must hold personal accident insurance covering potential search and rescue costs in Switzerland. Each year, runners face unforeseen expenses due to insufficient cover. You can arrange this with your preferred provider.
Since 2022 UTMB® also offers dedicated repatriation insurance, available at: https://utmb.assurinco.com/
We would like to remind you that it is mandatory to be in possession of individual accident insurance which covers any eventual costs for search and rescue in Switzerland. Such an insurance policy may be taken out with the organization of your choice. Since 2022, UTMB offers its own insurance, find out more here: https://utmb.assurinco.com/
LiveTrail® is an essential tool for your safety, race information and race tracking. The application follows your progress in real time and allows your friends and family to do the same. In an emergency you can send your GPS position by text message directly to Race HQ, saving valuable time initiating your rescue.
Important: Always call Race HQ first in an emergency.
The app is an interface reference for your security, while at the same time giving you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this app can send, via text message, your GPS position to the organization. This represents a precious time gain in getting help to you. However, it will not be a substitute for phoning the race HQ (PC Course). A mobile phone is mandatory with the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery in working order. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after the
A mobile phone is mandatory, with international roaming enabled and battery fully charged. Do not switch to airplane mode –organisers must be able to contact you at all times. A smartphone is strongly recommended to access LiveTrail® – an essential tool for your safety on the

event. Smartphones are highly recommended for using the LiveTrail® app which is indispensable for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an external battery is strongly recommended.
Important: To ensure you can be reached quickly in an emergency, check that your own phone number during the race is correctly entered in your runner profile. You can update this information at any time up until the race start.
Check that the number that you have given us as an emergency contact number is that of the person who you wish to be contacted in the case of a problem. Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention verify that you have submitted, on your runners’ page, the telephone number that you will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race.
IT IS MANDATORY THAT YOU DON’T LEAVE A PERSON IN DIFFICULTY ON THEIR OWN.
Only one support person per runner is permitted inside the official aid stations at Leukerbad, Kandersteg, Adelboden, Lenk and Tseuzier. Thank you for respecting this rule.

The flagship race of the event takes you on a spectacular full loop of the Wildstrubel massif and the Plaine Morte glacier, linking five world-renowned alpine destinations. This breathtaking adventure crosses two Swiss cantons, climbs the legendary Gemmi (2,268m) and Rawil (2,427m) passes, ventures through untamed high-mountain terrain past the Wildstrubel hut (2,800m), and follows the iconic Via Alpina, showcasing the very best of the Swiss Alps.
Your 113km and 6,600m D+ adventure begins in Crans-Montana, where you set out through the very heart of Valais crossing pristine alpine pastures and traditional high meadows. Along the way local delicacies will fuel you at the aid stations, offering a true taste of mountain life.
The course then ventures into the canton of Bern, climbing the mythic Gemmi Pass (2,268m) – an ascent that will stay etched in your memory – before winding through the iconic destinations of Adelboden, Kandersteg and Lenk. High above, a wild and rugged section leads you to the Wildstrubel hut (2,800m), the highest point of the race, where the views open wide over the untamed expanse of the Bernese Alps. From there you’ll re-enter Valais via the Rawil Pass (2,427m), skirting the emerald waters of Lac de Tseuzier before the closing kilometres along the historic Bisse du Ro, a traditional open-air irrigation channel. This showcase of Switzerland’s alpine wonders is worth the trip!

At 1,200 metres altitude in the Bernese Oberland, Kandersteg offers sweeping views over the Blümlisalp massif and the famous Oeschinen Lake. This picturesque alpine village also marks the start of an exciting new challenge: the Wild 70. Before or after race day, take time to explore the surrounding landscapes on foot or by mountain bike. Between rugged mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes, rivers and striking glaciers, Kandersteg is the perfect gateway to the region’s untamed natural beauty.
Kandersteg sets the stage for this epic 70km journey. The course takes you over one of the most wild and authentic summits in the region, through Adelboden’s legendary Chuenisbärgli World Cup ski slopes, and back across the canton border into Valais, finishing triumphantly in Crans-Montana.
The Wild 70 offers a true high-alpine adventure, beginning with a steep climb to Bunderschrinde, one of the most untamed and authentic peaks of the region. The route continues to Adelboden, where you’ll follow in the footsteps of alpine ski champions on the Chuenisbärgli World Cup slopes before crossing the Hahnenmoos Pass, passing through the charming village of Lenk, and running past the spectacular Iffigenalp waterfall – a showcase of the Bernese Oberland at its best.
