KEEPING UNION CITY BEAUTIFUL

BEST. COMMUNITY. PARTNERS. EVER.

We're making big moves to address litter in Union City. Since the kick-off of our Adopt-a-Spot program along the Shannon Parkway Business District, we've received additional interest in participation from residential and industrial areas of the City.

Members of the Ravenwood Subdivision hosted a community clean-up and collected trash throughout the neighborhood. Music Greeks, a local non-profit, adopted a portion of Feldwood Road near Banneker High School. Coca-Cola Bottling UNITED adopted the surrounding area of their facilities along Mason Road.

Interested in participating in upcoming Clean-up Events or the Adopt-a-Spot Program? Contact Public Services at (770) 306-6855.

UC CITIZENS ACADEMY

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT IN PROGRESS

This fall, Union City kicked off our very first Citizens Academy, a free program designed to give members of the community a better understanding of the inner workings of City Hall. The 8-week program is also an excellent opportunity for city officials and staff to get to know the community better and help build trust and transparency between the government and its citizens The Citizens Academy is a best practice that many cities have adopted to improve communication between governments.

Participants learned about topics such as local history, the structure of city government, and department responsibilities The program also offers practical opportunities for participants to visit locations within Union City, meet with City Directors, observe the day-to-day operations and ask questions. Topics included City Government, The City Clerks Office, Court Services, Code Enforcement, Community Development, Operations and Marketing, Parks and Recreation, Public Services and Utilities, Human Resources, Union City Fire Department, Union City Police Department, and Finance We are thankful to have a great group of engaged residents eager to apply their energy, talents, and ideas to make Union City the best place to live, work, play, and stay.

WINTER WEATHER IMPACTS WATER SERVICE THROUGHOUT METRO ATLANTA REGION

ALL PRESSURE IS NOW OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS

Like many cities across the Metro Atlanta area, Union City experienced low water pressure and service interruptions during the Christmas holiday. The City monitored the situation closely and worked around the clock to resolve the matter.

The City took several measures to address water issues, such as:

Partnering with Atlanta Watershed Management to canvas the City and inspect water mains

Distributing drinking water to residents impacted by low water pressure and service interruption

Public Services crews working around the clock to monitor the City's water flow

Keeping residents updated through various communication channels
