The residential leadership in Teton Village has developed this document to provide you with an introduction to the Districts, Committee and documents related to all varieties of construction and improvements in Teton Village. Given every project is different, not all sections of this document may be applicable to your project. We ask you review this document and share it with your architect and general contractor.
Teton Village Architectural Committee (TVAC)
The Teton Village Architectural Committee (TVAC) is tasked with ensuring residences and businesses within the original Village abide by the rules as outlined in the Teton Village Master Plan and Restrictive Covenants. Permission is required from the TVAC for new construction, remodels, signage, landscaping, and exterior changes/modifications (excluding lots within Granite Ridge and Shooting Star).
Any new construction, remodel or exterior improvements made in Teton Village must be reviewed and approved by the TVAC prior to starting work. There are several documents to help you navigate the TVAC approval process, including the Applicant's Checklist which can be found on the district website at:
The Applicant's Checklist references the TVAC Restrictive Covenants, found on the Rules & Regulations page of www.tetonvillagewy.org. Note that the Teton Village Master Plan (1998) and the Expansion Resort Master Plan (2005) is also applicable to commercial projects.
Please be sure to review Article I.P ‐ Excessive Noise of the Restrictive Covenants. This section speaks to jobsite noise and working hours.
Teton Village Improvement & Service District (TVISD)
The Teton Village Improvement and Service District (TVISD) provides municipal services in the residential areas of Teton Village, including Granite Ridge. Services include road maintenance, road capital improvement, snow removal, parking enforcement, and signage.
Following your TVAC Approval and receiving all the necessary permits for your project, you may need one or more of the following permits issued by the TVISD. Specific details and downloadable copies of each permit application can be found on the District website at: https://tetonvillagewy.org/construction/residential‐permits/isd‐road‐and‐parking‐permits/
Construction Parking Permit ‐
A permit for long‐term on street parking for construction projects must be submitted, approved, and the required deposit must be paid prior to commencement of the project. Please make sure to read and understand all sections of Rule #2: Street Parking, Construction Impacting Streets, and Roadway Cuts as related to Street Parking Permits as referenced in the Construction Parking Permit.
Road Cut/Repair Permit ‐
Before performing any work affecting roadways within the TVISD District, a Road Cut Permit must be submitted, approved and the required deposit must be paid prior to commencement of the project. The purpose of the permit and fee is to ensure that the roadways are reasonably passable to traffic during construction, as well as to guarantee adequate maintenance and repairs of the roadway are made during and following project completion.
Impact Permit ‐
Depending on the size and scope of your project, a TVISD Impact Permit and deposit may be required to ensure safe travel on Village roads during work, as well as the repair and maintenance of the streets once the project is complete. An impact permit is issued for projects using construction vehicles or equipment that may damage or obstruct traffic on TVISD Roadways.
Please be sure to read and understand all sections of Rule #2: Street Parking, Construction Impacting Streets, and Roadway Cuts as related to the permit you are applying for.
Teton Village Water & Sewer District (TVWSD)
The Teton Village Water and Sewer District (TVWSD) provides water and sewer service and related infrastructure in Teton Village, including Granite Ridge and Shooting Star.
Use of the District’s systems is mandatory for all domestic water and sewer within the boundaries of the TVWSD. The use of a private septic system or similar is prohibited except for the grandfathered septic systems listed in Appendix A of the TVWSD Rules and Regulations.
As your project progresses, you may need to connect or reconnect to District infrastructure. A Connection Permit is required from TVWSD before starting any work that may impact, directly or indirectly, the water and sewer systems in any manner. Once the new or updated connection is made to the water system, you may also need to purchase a water meter.
Specific details and downloadable copies of each permit application can be found on the District website at: https://tetonvillagewy.org/construction/residential‐permits/ws‐applications‐and‐connections/
Teton Village Special Fire District (TVSFD)
While there are no permits required by the Teton Village Special Fire District (TVSFD) for improvement projects in Teton Village, your project may be required to adhere to the Wildland Urban Interface Code (WUIC), per Teton County Building Codes. The WUIC dictates best practices related to construction, as well as ongoing maintenance of your property in Teton Village.
It is good to note, tree removal or landscaping changes you make to improve defensible space on your property must be reviewed and approved by the TVAC prior to performing the work.
