FICC jury og Don Quijote-prisen Fédération internationale des ciné-clubs Den internasjonale sammenslutning av filmklubber Grunnlagt i 1947 under Filmfestivalen i Cannes, er FICC (Fédération internationale des ciné-clubs/Den internasjonale sammenslutning av filmklubber) en paraplyorganisasjon for filmklubber og ikkekommersielle kinoer. Theo Angelopoulos ble valgt til president på generalforsamlingen i Cottbus, Tyskland i 1999. Ett av målene til FICC er å rette oppmerksomheten mot kvalitetsfilmen, samt å støtte tiltak som bringer publikum og filmene sammen. Utvalgte filmfestivaler står som vertskap for FICC-juryer, som Berlin (Forum), Cottbus, Karlovy Vary, Kiev, Locarno, Leipzig, Oberhausen og Kartago (Tunis). FICC-juryene tildeler Don Quijote-prisen til fremragende filmer. FICC har også igangsatt distribusjonsnettverket "Discoveries", et pilotprosjekt med mål å gjøre tilgjengelig filmer som ellers ikke ville ha nådd sitt publikum gjennom de etablerte kommersielle kanalene, og da spesielt Don Quijote-vinnerne. I anledning vårt 10 års-jubileum, har Tromsø Internasjonale Filmfestival æren av å være den første norske festival som står som vertskap for en FICC-jury, som også er den første internasjonale jury på filmfestivalen. Founded in 1947 during the Cannes Film Festival, the International Federation of Film Societies IFFS (Fédération internationale des ciné-clubs, FICC) is the international umbrella organisation of film societies and nonprofit arthouse cinemas. Theo Angelopoulos is the president, elected at the General Assembly in Cottbus, Germany in 1999. One of the aims of the FICC is to discover outstanding films and to support initiatives which brings the audience and the films together. Selected film festivals host FICC juries, such as the festivals of Berlin (the Forum), Cottbus, Karlovy Vary, Kiev, Locarno, Leipzig, Oberhausen and Carthage (Tunis). The FICC juries award outstanding films with the Don Quijote prize. The FICC has also initiated the distribution network "Discoveries", a pilot project whose aim is to promote films that otherwise may not have reached an audience through the established commercial channels. The specific goal of the project is to make the winners of the Don Quijote available to a larger audience. On the occasion of our 10th anniversary, The Tromsø International Film Festival is proud to be the first festival in Norway to host an FICC jury, also our first international jury.
