Academic Fair

It’s time to start thinking about registration for Spring! The academic fair is an opportunity to talk with faculty about their programs or courses for next quarter. To make the best of this opportunity, it’s good to come prepared to the fair and your TRIO advisor is here to help! They can help you review the catalog offerings, narrow down the list of programs/courses you are interested in, check to see if there are prerequisites or signature requirements and brainstorm questions to ask professors. You can find your advisors contact information in the last section of this newsletter.

Upcoming TRIO Workshops

❖Family Game and Arts Night

Need a break? Want a chance to connect with community in a relaxed and fun environment? Join TRIO for a night of laughter, creativity, and being together. Card games, board games, puzzles, and yetis in spaghetti; we have it all, including arts and crafts! Zen out with self-care creation kits.

Got kids? Bring 'em! TRIO Jess is bringing her son. Snacks galore!

When: Friday, March 10th from 6-8 PM

Evergreen Community Events

❖Glitter Hour

Queer and Trans weekly social hour to cultivate community on campus!

When: Fridays, 4:00 to 5:30 PM

Where: The Seal, 3rd floor of the CAB

❖Rock’em Soc’em

A weekly hang out for Evergreen’s students of color!

When: Wednesdays, 4:00 to 5:30 PM

Where: The Seal, 3rd floor of the CAB

❖T4TEA Time

T4Tea Time is a weekly opportunity centering Evergreen’s Trans, Non-binary and Queer students to come engage in community. Stop by to meet new people, get support from your TQ Coordinator, and enjoy some tea!

When: Thursdays, 12-1:30 PM

Where: The Seal, 3rd floor of the CAB

STEM Information Sessions

Are you a STEM student interested in learning more about graduate school or careers in the STEM fields? Check out the two presentations offered by the local chapter of the American Chemical Society. The two events will be done on Zoom. To learn more and to register for the events, check out their flyer.

Housing updates

Do you plan to live on campus next quarter or academic year? Below are the housing application timelines!

Spring 2023: Application closes March 13th at 8:00 AM

Academic Year 2023-2024: Opens Mar 1st at 8:00 AM

Priority Deadline is May 1st at 8am. Applications submitted after this date will automatically be placed on our waitlist and will be considered as spaces are available.

TRIO Study Hall

There are now two Study Halls! You can get support navigating academic technology and writing support from Fin on Mondays from 4:00-6:00 PM in the Evans Hall Computer Lab, classroom 2612.

We will continue offering the regular drop-in study sessions on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Evans Hall Computer Lab, classroom 2612.

Tutoring With TRIO!

TRIO’s tutor coordinator, Gator can work with you to set up one to one tutoring with an Evergreen Peer Tutor. Tutoring services include

• Receiving tutoring on a language or academic subject

• Support with time management and organization skills

• Help to understand and complete assignments.

TRIO Students can work with a tutor for up to 3 hours a week.

Evergreen Scholarship Application is OPEN!

Have you filed your FAFSA yet? The priority deadline is now passed, but you still can apply! Need some assistance? Reach out to your TRIO Academic Advisor- We are here to help.

TRIO students need to meet with their TRIO Academic Specialist at least once per quarter. Now is the time to make that appointment. You can do so by dropping by our Olympia offices or scheduling an online appointment with your academic advisor.
