Celebrate First-Gen Students with TRIO! ��

Join us for a fun and creative gathering in honor of National First-Generation College Student Day!

We’ll have beads galore so you can make your own bracelets or keychains to show off your First-Gen pride. Not feeling crafty? No worries! Just come hang out, grab some free snacks, and connect with other amazing students.

Plan Your Senior Year: Capstones, Undergraduate Research, and Internships

Gather in Purce Hall to discuss with faculty how to plan for your senior year. Learn about Capstones, Undergraduate Research, and Internships! Evergreen's Master of Public Administration, Master of Environmental Studies, and Master in Teaching programs will also be available to answer any questions you have about their programs!

Democracy: Local to Global: In 2024, elections are taking place in the U.S., India, Brazil, Nigeria, the U.K., and over 50 other nations. Democracy extends beyond voting—it thrives through local involvement, political participation, and encouraging civic engagement in our communities.

Please visit this curated list of events and resources, focusing on how students can engage with the democratic process at multiple levels.

BLISS (BIPOC & LGBTQ+ Intersectional Support Services)

The SEAL: A welcoming space for all students, with a focus on uplifting BIPOC, LGBTQ+, undocumented, and DACAmented communities. The SEAL offers beverages, snacks, two computers, a printer, a TV with a Nintendo Switch, and board games, along with regular programming. The SEAL is open to all students!

When: Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM- 6 PM

Where: SEAL (CAB 301)

Vinalia: A social group for trans femme students meets weekly to find community.

When: Wednesdays at 6 PM

Where: The SEAL

Halloween at the SEAL: Stop by the SEAL for trick-or-treating (all day) and a student costume contest from 12-4 PM.

Dia de los Muertos: Join Bliss for altar building, face painting and community gathering.

When: November 1, 3:00 - 6:00 PM

Where: at the Flaming Eggplant (3rd floor CAB)

De aquí, de allá: This documentary film is about Luis Cortes Romero, the first undocumented attorney to argue a case at the Supreme Court. Luis will be present at the event to answer questions and there will be English/Spanish translation available.

When: November 3, 10 AM

Student Wellness Services

Ecotherapy Group: Connect with nature and enhance your coping skills for stress, anxiety, depression, and concentration issues through guided sessions and group interactions. Sessions are held both indoors at Student Wellness Services and outdoors in the Evergreen campus forest.

When: Wednesdays, 2 - 3:30 PM October 16, October 23, October 30 and November 6, 2024

Mindful Autumn Nature Walk for Mental Wellness: Step away from academic pressures and reconnect with nature on a Mindful Autumn Nature Walk for Mental Wellness. This peaceful, guided walk is designed to relieve stress and support mental well-being. As we explore the changing fall scenery, you'll practice mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and briefly discuss seasonal wellness. Meet us outdoors at the two picnic tables between LAB 1 and LAB 2.

When: Wednesday 2-3 PM, November 13 and November 20

The Writing Center

Writer's Circle, a weekly writing gathering for students!

Come to the Writer’s Circle to write, collaborate, and create with your fellow student writers! Explore literary styles and play writing games in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Any experience level (or lack of) is heartily welcome.

When: Every Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m.

Where: The Writing Center (Library 2304)

Academic Statement Workshop

Writing Center staff will guide students in reflecting on their learning at Evergreen and their academic and professional goals and values. Students can expect to learn strategies to craft their ideas into a cohesive piece of writing that truly expresses who they are as a scholar.

When: Wednesday, October 30 and Wednesday, November 20 from 3-4:30 PM

Basic Needs Center

Get access to clothing, books, food, hygiene products, gender affirming clothing, & more items! They are now offering SNAP/EBT referral support via Unite Us.

When: Monday and Friday from 1-5 PM by appointment only

Evergreen Satellite Foodbank

In partnership with Thurston County Foodbank, The Evergreen State College offers a foodbank satellite right here on campus to students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community!

When: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, 2-4 PM

Where: Campus Activities Building (CAB) 135

Housing Resources

Facing housing insecurity? Evergreen's Case Manager for Student Success provides housing resources and support to work with current students who may be experiencing this need. Email Lane Moss (lane.moss@evergreen.edu) to set up a meeting and discuss housing resources.

Meet with your TRIO Academic Advisor!

TRIO students need to meet with their TRIO Academic Specialist at least once per quarter. Now is the time to make that appointment. You can do so by dropping by our Olympia offices or scheduling an online appointment with your academic advisor.
