TRIO Study Hall and Tutoring Support!

The TRIO Study Hall offers a fantastic opportunity to receive study support from our tutor coordinator, connect with study partners or body-doubles, meet fellow TRIO students, and enjoy some tasty snacks!
When: Tuesday 3:30-5:30 PM Wednesdays 2-4 PM

Peer Tutoring Requests: TRIO Students can receive 1:1 peer tutoring support for up to 3 hours a week.
Tutoring Services include:
• Receiving tutoring on a language or academic subject
• Support with time management and organization skills
• Help to understand and complete assignments.
To Request a peer tutor please talk to your TRIO academic advisor, and they can help you fill out the form.

Democracy: Local to Global: In 2024, elections are taking place in the U.S., India, Brazil, Nigeria, the U.K., and over 50 other nations. Democracy extends beyond voting—it thrives through local involvement, political participation, and encouraging civic engagement in our communities.

BLISS (BIPOC & LGBTQ+ Intersectional Support Services)
The SEAL: A welcoming space for all students, with a focus on uplifting BIPOC, LGBTQ+, undocumented, and DACAmented communities. The SEAL offers beverages, snacks, two computers, a printer, a TV with a Nintendo Switch, and board games, along with regular programming. The SEAL is open to all students!
When: Monday through Friday from 10:30 AM- 6 PM

Join BLISS for a hands-on workshop exploring Indigeneity from diverse perspectives, with interactive discussions on key ideas around Indigenous identity.

Student Wellness Services
Group STAIR: STAIR is an evidence-based treatment that teaches skills to manage emotions and improve relationships after experiencing trauma. STAIR is for students who have experienced a past trauma and are currently facing challenges in their daily lives.
Pre-screening is required and will be offered during the first three weeks of the quarter, with the group starting week four (October 22). We must have at least five participants to hold this group. You can schedule your pre-screening appointment on Health E-Connect on My Evergreen (please note STAIR screening in the reason for appointment) or by calling 360-867-5200.
When: Tuesdays, 2:30 -3:30 PM. It starts on October 22nd, 2024.
Ecotherapy Group: Connect with nature and enhance your coping skills for stress, anxiety, depression, and concentration issues through guided sessions and group interactions. Sessions are held both indoors at Student Wellness Services and outdoors in the Evergreen campus forest.
When: Wednesdays, 2 - 3:30 PM

Mindful Autumn Nature Walk for Mental Wellness: Step away from academic pressures and reconnect with nature on a Mindful Autumn Nature Walk for Mental Wellness. This peaceful, guided walk is designed to relieve stress and support mental well-being. As we explore the changing fall scenery, you'll practice mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and briefly discuss seasonal wellness. Meet us outdoors at the two picnic tables between LAB 1 and LAB 2. Please arrive by 2 PM, as the walk will begin promptly.
When: Wednesday 2-3 PM, November 13 and November 20, 2024
The Writing Center

The Writing Center hosts a Writer's Circle, a weekly writing gathering for students!
Come to Writer’s Circle to write, collaborate, and create with your fellow student writers! Explore literary styles and play writing games in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Any experience level (or lack of) is heartily welcome.
Drop by any week, no signup needed!
When: Every Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m.

Academic Statement Workshop
This workshop provides students with the information they need to write their academic statements. Writing Center staff will guide students in reflecting on their learning at Evergreen and their academic and professional goals and values. Students can expect to learn strategies to craft their ideas into a cohesive piece of writing that truly expresses who they are as a scholar.

In partnership with Thurston County Foodbank, The Evergreen State College offers a foodbank satellite right here on campus to students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community!

Housing Resources
Facing housing insecurity? Evergreen's Case Manager for Student Success provides housing resources and support to work with current students who may be experiencing this need. Email Lane Moss (lane.moss@evergreen.edu) to set up a meeting and discuss housing resources.

TRIO students need to meet with their TRIO Academic Specialist at least once per quarter. Now is the time to make that appointment. You can do so by dropping by our Olympia offices or scheduling an online appointment with your academic advisor.
