Year 10
own journey, rediscovering Christ’s presence and his grace in their lives and strengthening friendships that foster faith and spiritual maturity.
The retreat ended with Mass at each location and the feedback from both staff and students was that each group had a unique, meaningful and very positive experience.
A lot of organisation goes into these events and so our thanks go to Mrs Marya Stewart and Mr Leo Murray for their work in providing these very meaningful, service and faith development opportunities for the students.
THE PDW PROGRAM
The Year 10 Personal Development and Wellbeing program runs throughout the year every Friday afternoon for an hour. The students were grouped according to the ‘wellbeing’ groups that were established in last year’s Becoming Men program. Our aim was to foster a culture of young men who are aware of each other’s circumstances, can support each other and, hopefully, add to that sense of belonging within the student body.
The five topics that were covered this year were; Keys for Life driver training program, Christian Service placement, Careers Education, My Wellbeing and Relationship IQ.
The My Wellbeing and Relationship IQ components were new features to the program and were very successful in advocating holistic mental health and building strong meaningful relationships. Our thanks to Miss Amber Newsome and Mrs Annika Holland for their work in preparing and presenting the material for these rotations.
ACHIEVEMENT
I congratulate all the students who gave their best this year. Your commitment to contributing across all Four Pillars of the College; your dedication to achieving academically whilst excelling in cultural or sporting pursuits and giving of your time for faith and justice, is nothing short of inspirational.
Many thanks to the parents of the Class of 2020 for their ongoing support and perseverance throughout this year. I know that over the coming year, we will continue to develop and strengthen the school-home partnership, which, in turn, will serve to better the outcomes for our students.
Finally, I thank the team of Year 10 Pastoral Care teachers, who have done a fantastic job this year. It has been a pleasure to work with you all. To Mr Peter Oliver, Ms Sonia Scordo, Mr Nick Marston, Mrs Brigitte Savy-Walsh, Mrs Annika Holland, Ms Eliza Knapman and Mrs Sarah Pontre, I thank you for your dedication to your students.
I am looking forward to next year and very thankful to be continuing with our students, as their Head of Year, through to the end of their time at Trinity. I know that they will do themselves, their families and their College proud over the next year. I wish the students all the very best for 2019.
God Bless.
Mr Joel Shinkfield
