The 2013 season began with high hopes for the boys. Pre-season training started well with Mr Marai and Mr Jones stepping up into the coaching roles for the season, starting a new era for the team, and with Mrs Downs as manager. Over the duration of the season, we defeated every school apart from Aquinas College, which eventually won. But from the perspective of every boy in the team, what we achieved as a new team this year was remarkable. The U/17s age division won the State Schools Championship, beating Aquinas – a simply incredible effort. Overall, we finished the season proud of our achievements. The outgoing Year 12s and I look forward to seeing future performances under Mr Marai, Mr Jones and Mrs Downs.

This being my first year teaching at a PSA School, I was amazed and impressed by the dedication, commitment and responsibilities so readily accepted by the students in the cross country team. Day in, day out, the boys reliably attended weekly training as well as pre-season and holiday training runs without hesitation, adding to their busy workload. These skills that the boys demonstrated so pleasingly will, undoubtedly, be expressed in all facets of their lives here at Trinity College and beyond into their adult lives. The boys should be proud of their efforts from the 2013 season; able to witness their improvement and development by the countless number of personal best scores, improved race times and other statistics throughout the season. I commend each and every one of them for making my first year here such a wonderful experience.
Mr Jacob Marai Cross Country Coach The Trinity College Cross Country sportsman is a courageous and noble beast. At the start of a race, every runner knows there is no one else but themselves who will get them across the line. No runner can hide and no runner can rest once out on the course. Facing the starting line with determination and pushing their bodies to the limits has been a hallmark of the 2013 season. All boys made improvements and should be proud of their efforts. There is not a hill in East Perth that hasn’t been conquered during training or a fellow PSA team that hasn’t felt fear at seeing the Blue Army charge across a field. Congratulations to the 2013 senior cross country team on a fantastic season.
Mr Peter Jones (’03) Senior Cross Country Coach
It has been wonderful to see so many eager parents on the cross country sidelines this year. This season TCXC parents have assisted in our fundraiser barbecue at Waterford as well as the club’s wind up. The help and support that the TCXC parents have offered this season has been amazing and without this the season wouldn’t have been as successful and enjoyable. We are looking forward to seeing new and old faces for the 2014 season.
