LAKE PARK
On April 24, 2024, the Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of 3 acres of land adjacent to Lake Park, marking a significant step toward the park’s expansion
The acquisition will allow for improved access to the park, additional greenspace and parking The Town of Hope Mills has entered into an engineering contract with The East Group to design significant improvements to the parking lot, vehicular circulation, and playground The improvements are aimed at enhancing safety, accessibility, and overall visitor experience
Under the contract, The East Group will develop plans to optimize traffic flow, expand parking facilities, upgrade storm water features, and update the playground area to be inclusive Once the design process is complete, the project will move into the construction phase, with a timeline expected to be announced later this year
Excitement is building as Hope Mills Parks & Recreation commence the design and development phase of Heritage Park Phase II Following the successful completion and opening of Phase I, this next stage aims to expand on the park’s offerings with more active park elements and amenities, further enriching the community’s recreational and cultural opportunities. The design and development phase will focus on refining plans for several major additions, including: an outdoor classroom, natural trail paving, natural playground area, picnic shelter, way finding signage and a floating canoe/kayak launch.
The Town will submit an application for a $500,000 Parks & Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) grant to support the construction phase of the project The funding, if awarded, will play a crucial role in funding the estimated $1,773,883 cost to complete the project.
VIC BLENDS
The Vic Blendz Basketball Court in Hope Mills, North Carolina, is set to undergo exciting improvements aimed at enhancing the community's recreational experience. Designed to serve both amateur athletes and casual players, these upgrades promise to breathe new life into the iconic court, ensuring it remains a focal point for outdoor sports and social activity in the area The most notable update will be the installation of a state-of-the-art, all-weather court surface This durable surface will not only improve traction and player safety but will also reduce maintenance needs over time. The court will feature freshly painted lines, including updated markings for both full and half-court play. A brighter color scheme, featuring vibrant greens and whites, will make the court more visually appealing and create an exciting atmosphere for players
