About this match programme By Richard Snowball After missing out in the play-offs the previous season, losing to Stockport County, York City's second season in Division Two in 1994-95 was again going quite well. On April 18, 1995, with four games remaining, York travelled to Blackpool lying ninth in the table with their rivals one point behind in tenth. In recent seasons York seemed to have the upper hand over Blackpool having done the double over them the previous season, gaining a stunning 5-0 victory in the away fixture. York fans were hoping for a similar result but a closer match was expected this time. Blackpool managed by "Big Sam" Allardice were having a better season, but on Boxing Day York had won the home game at Bootham Crescent 4-0, with Paul Barnes scoring a hat-trick, so the hoodoo continued. This game at Blackpool was no different, and to prove that lightning can strike twice in the same place they repeated the 5-0 score line. Paul Barnes was out of the side, but goals from Paul Baker (2), Steve Bushell, Jon McCarthy and Graeme Murty sealed another great victory. At the end of the season York had not improved their League position and finished ninth and Blackpool dropped away to mid table.
