About this match programme By Richard Snowball After the exciting play-off final at Wembley the previous season, York City were finding life in the 1993-94 season in Division Two a little tougher, but holding their own. Coming into the match against Fulham played on March 12, 1994 they were lying eleventh in the table, ten points off a play-off place. York had won the away game at Fulham 1-0 back in September, 1993 and managed to pull off the double against their illustrious but struggling opponents. Goals from Jon McCarthy and a Paul Barnes penalty sealed the game 2-0, and started a run of only one defeat in their last thirteen matches, (eight wins and four draws), to clinch the last play-off place. However, another Wembley appearance wasn't to be, as after drawing 0-0 at home to Stockport County in the first leg of the semi-final they succumbed to the only goal of the game in the second leg. Fulham's form deteriorated and at the end of the season they were relegated. For the second season running, Paul Barnes finished top scorer with 24 goals and was voted Clubman of the Year.
