TOMAH BOOSTER CLUB
The Tomah Sports Booster Club, a 501(c)(3) organization, is committed to supporting the athletic programs of the Tomah School District. They provide financial support to purchase needed equipment and supplies that are not covered by the school or team budget. They support good sportsmanship and promote school spirit throughout the community.

Academic Clubs
MATH 24
Available to grade 6
Active in September through November
The Math 24 club meets once a week in order to prepare for the end of year Math 24 Competition. Math 24 is an arithmetical card game in which the object is to find a way to manipulate four integers so that the end result is 24. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, and sometimes other operations, may be used to make four digits from one to nine equal 24. For example, for a card with the numbers 4,7, 8, 8, a possible solution is the following: (7-(8/8))*4=24.
SCIENCE CLUB

Science Club is an after school, mentor-based science program for middle school students. This program looks at a variety of activities to promote environmental awareness and to learn more about how science concepts and principles impact everyday life.
QUIZ BOWL
Available to grade 7
Active November through February
Quiz bowl is a game in which two teams compete head-to-head to answer questions from all areas of knowledge, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, popular culture, sports, and more.
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Available to grades 7-8
Active throughout the school year
Science Olympiad is a team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. There are multiple levels of competition: invitational, regional, state, and national. Invitational tournaments, run by middle schools, are unofficial tournaments and serve as practice for regional and state competitions.

Active October through February
Forensics is all about communicating! Participants can act out plays, give speeches, demonstrate tasks, read stories, or deliver news reports. This is a good opportunity to improve your communication skills.

Musical & Art Clubs
ART CLUB
Available to grades 6-8
Active throughout the school year
Students who enjoy art have the opportunity to participate in special art activities after school. Due to the number of students who have expressed interest in art club, a new group of students is selected to participate each semester.
MUSICAL / PLAY
Available to grades 6-8
Active through the Fall
The middle school play is open to all middle school students. Auditions will be in early fall. Rehearsals are 3:30 to 5:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Rehearsals continue through the show dates which are in late November / early December.
JAZZ BAND
Available to grades 6-8
Active throughout the school year
This group provides band students with the opportunity to play various styles of jazz music in a small group setting. This ensemble is open to any band student who is academically eligible. The jazz band season runs from October through May, and rehearses Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school. The jazz band performs 2-4 times per year, with the majority of performances happening at band concerts. All 6th grade band students interested in this group are encouraged to join after first semester in order to improve their skills necessary to perform in this group.
SHOW CHOIR
Available to grades 6-8
Active September to March
If you love to sing, dance, and work hard, show choir is for you! Being involved in show choir allows you to perform in a variety of ways. We learn a variety of music from different genres (including pop, country, and show tunes) and incorporate dance into our performances.
Participants must be in choir to try out for / be in show choir. Auditions are held in May for the next school year. Show choir season runs from September to March.
There are two levels of Show Choir: Soundsations (advanced) and Crescendo (beginner-intermediate)
SOLO ENSEMBLE - INSTRUMENTAL & VOCAL
Available to grades 6-8
Solo - Ensemble is a yearly opportunity for kids in music programs to perform a solo, duet, and/or a small ensemble piece and get some feedback from a judge. This feedback includes a rating and if it’s really high, they can go on to perform at state and receive another critique.

CHESS & GAMING CLUB

Chess club is open to all students. There are three different levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Students practice weekly to learn and build skills. In addition to chess, anyone interested can learn the ancient game of GO. This strategy game is fun and anyone who loves chess will love this game, too!
FFA

The National FFA Organization is a student run organization promoting premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education. The Tomah FFA strives to develop members into well rounded individuals, providing different opportunities in: agriculture, recreation, community service, and career exploration. A few activities members can participate in include: community events, leadership workshops, conventions and community service projects.
YEARBOOK

Do you love photography? How about graphic design? If so, this club is for you! We are looking for responsible students who will photograph school activities, design pages, choose the cover and layout for the yearbook, and help edit the final product.
INTERNATIONAL CLUB

International Club celebrates and promotes the understanding of diverse cultures, languages and heritage in our school, our local community, and beyond. The International Club is an organization for worldminded students who enjoy international culture experiences as well as social, educational, and outdoor events as a means of enjoying others’ company. The club promotes leadership development and fellowship.

Student Leadership & Inclusion Clubs
BEST BUDDIES
Available to grades 6-8
Active throughout the school year
Best Buddies is a time for students to socialize and play with special needs peers. Together the students play various board games, card games, file folder games, and do large group games such as a floor puzzle or Uno Attack. Best Buddies must have passing grades to participate and those who help on a regular basis will be able to attend one special activity with the special needs students during the school year.
PEER MEDIATORS
Available to grades 6-8
Active throughout the school year
The trained peer mediators serve as an early intervention resource for conflict resolution within a school. When a conflict arises between two students, a teacher or staff member can refer the disputants to peer mediation. This means that the peer mediation program advisors will learn some basic information about the nature of the conflict. The program advisors then schedule a time for two peer mediators to work with the disputants. During the mediation, a program advisor will be in the room to ensure safety and comfort, but will allow the mediators to facilitate the mediation process.

Student Council is designated for all students to get involved. In this organization, students discuss school matters and are encouraged to voice their opinions and concerns about these issues. Student Council plans school-wide events and is involved in community service projects.

“Where Everyone Belongs” is a group of 8th graders who help others find success. This is a group of 8th grade leaders who will work to build connections at TMS. They help with 6th grade orientation and follow up lessons. The goal is to help all students feel welcome, especially incoming 6th graders. W.E.B. leaders help to make the 6th grade jump to middle

Gymnastics is a team sport that focuses on individual strengths. It helps develop confidence and agility. Come join the fun with this growing sport in the Tomah area. Practices start late November and run through late February.
DANCE

If you like to participate in choreographed dance moves and want to perform at a basketball game or wrestling match, sign up for the Dance Team. Practices start mid-October and run through the end of February.
WRESTLING
Available to grades 6th - 8th
Wrestling is open to all students willing to work hard and to be successful in helping a team. Practices begin late-October and run through the end of December.

Available to grades 7th - 8th
Basketball teaches students to work together, play hard and respect the game. Expect fun, great competition, and new friends. The boys season runs from late October- mid December. The girls season runs early January - late February.

ACADEMIC DECATHLON
Available to grades 9-12
Active throughout the school year
Academic Decathlon is an annual high school academic competition. The competition consists of seven objective multiple choice tests, two subjective performance events, and an essay. Academic Decathlon is designedtoincludestudentsfromallachievementlevels.Teamsgenerally consist of nine members, who are divided into three divisions based on a custom calculated grade point average. Each team member competes in all ten events against other students in his or her division.

Forensics is a competitive speech team set up for drama and debate activities. Forensics involves different categories with participating students choosing their preferred activity. The aim is to build the confidence and skills needed to research and speak to an audience.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
ROOTS AND SHOOTS

Roots and Shoots members work together to identify environmental, conservationist, and humanitarian issues in our immediate community. Members will brainstorm campaign and service projects to help people, animals or the environment. Members will develop a sense of service and leadership in our commuity.

Pep Band is a specialized musical group who’s goal is to promote school spirit, entertain spectators at school sporting events, and motivate students. Pep band performs at home athletic events during the winter season.
JAZZ BAND

Active November through May.
Jazz Band is a select group of students playing traditional jazz instruments (saxophone, trombone, trumpets, etc.) that study and perform a variety of jazz styles and arrangements.
PLAY
Available to grades 9-12
The school play is a theatrical production presented at school, and students are the principal actors. Students assist wtih sound and lighting, stage setup, etc. Auditions are held early September and performances are in the late fall.
MUSICAL
Available to grades 9-12
The school musical is a theatrical, musical production presented at school and students are the principal performers. Broadway-like shows are performed. Auditions are held early Spring and performances are later in the season.
PIT ORCHESTRA

Pit orchestra is a performance ensemble consisting of strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. The Pit Orchestra performs for the school musical to add to the overall production. They are present at all dress/tech rehearsals in preparation and perform for all musical performances. Auditions are held for this ensemble.

Show Choir (Limited Edition) is a musical ensemble that combines choral singing with choreographed dance, with an overarching theme for each show. Auditions are held in the spring for the following school year.

CLASS OFFICERS

Class officers are designed to help keep the class in order running smoothly, they plan and organize annual events for their class and school. They are a voice for their classmates and act as a unified voice for their class. Elected by their peers in the Spring.

Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects.
DISTRIBUTIVE EDUCATION CLUBS OF AMERICA ( DECA )
Available to grades 9-12
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA is an association of marketing students that encourages the development of business and leadership skills through academic conferences and competitions.
LINK CREW
Available to grades 11-12
Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen to make them feel comfortable throughout the first year of high school. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders. Application/selection process happens in the Spring.
INTERACT CLUB
Available to grades 9-12
Interact is a club for young people ages 12-18 who want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about. Interact club members carry out hands-on service projects, make international connections, develop leadership skills, and have fun in the process.

SAAC is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. SAAC offers input on the rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athletes’ competitions.

These honorary titles are awarded to students elected in a school-wide vote. The prom king and queen will be announced at the coronation ceremony prior to the dance. If selected for prom court, you will not be eligible for homecoming court as a senior the following year.

Rodeo season begins in August, breaks for the winter and Rodeo competitions pick up in the Spring. Join Rodeo to compete in bull riding, broncs, barrel racing, calf roping, pole bending, steer wrestling, goat tying and more. Athletes must own their own horse and travel arrangements. TITO - Mascot
The official Tito the Timber wolf mascot costume is held in the Activities Office. Contact the Activities Office with any interest in being Tito!
THS Signing Day
Senior athletes that commit to competing at the collegiate level are recognized each year at the THS Signing Day event. This is where students and their families can reflect on their athletic accomplishments during their high school career and also celebrate their future potential during their college careers.

The THS training facility is open (and supervised) exclusively for Tomah students in 6-12th grade. Sign up is not required.

FAAST ENRICHMENT CLUB
FASST=Functional, Athletic, Strength, and Speed Training
This summer enrichment course will teach students how to improve their flexibility, quickness, agility, speed, strength, and overall athleticism using the Train Heroic program. This highly participative class will include many training drills used to improve the students’ physical skills. This class is held at the THS Training Facility and open to both middle school and high school students. Online sign up will occur near the end of the school year and sent out by School Administration. FAAST runs for about six weeks during summer break.
Athletic Opportunities
Tomah High School is a member of the Mississippi Valley Conference and Tomah Middle School is a member of the 3 Rivers Conference. Both are members of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA). The rules of these organizations govern the action of their athletes. Tomah High School and Tomah Middle School can participate in the interscholastic programs as listed in this booklet.

Every student is encouraged to participate in school activities in addition to what is offered within the classroom. All clubs and organizations are open to both males and females. No form of humiliating initiation or any hazing is permitted. Tomah High School and Tomah Middle School can participate in the clubs and organizations as listed in this booklet.
Sportsmanship
It is expected that all middle school and high school students will practice good sportsmanship by showing proper respect and courtesy to all visitors, whether they are players, coaches, officials, or spectators.
