KINDNESS 5

Welcome to Buddy’s Book Review!

A review of our favorite children’s books here at The Nest Schools. We thoroughly believe in the power of literature, and we are excited to introduce wonderful new children’s books to our families in hopes that they will expand their own home libraries as we expand our own!

How do we review and rate each book?

We rate in terms of its likeness to our core values: KINDNESS, WELLNESS, INNOVATION, and FUN. Five feathers will be given for the core value we think each book best represents.

About this month’s book

A must-read for educators and parents alike. This story’s overarching themes of empathy, kindness, and mutual respect teach children that they are part of something bigger than themselves and that their actions and presence within their communities are important!

September 23rd is International Day of Sign Language

Here’s why we implement it in our younger classrooms

WHY IS SIGN LANGUAGE IMPORTANT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN?

Most young children begin to talk around the age of 12 months old, while some infants even try to communicate with their parents and caregivers even earlier!

One way of helping our young children express their feelings, wants, and needs without crying and the frustration of a lack of understanding from adults is through simple sign language, commonly known as 'Baby Core Signs.' These core signs include words like milk, sleep, play, all done, more, mother, father, etc.
