Sometimes, the best thing about meal times is what happens before you sit to eat. That is cooking together! Cooking meals and snacks together with young children provides a wonderful opportunity to bond and build strong relationships with one another. It is a time to communicate, collaborate, work together, share stories, laugh, and make memories that will last a lifetime. Strawberry-Chocolate Greek Yogurt Bark Strawberry-Peach Fruitsicles

International Mud Day Celebration
Fall enrollment is happening now!
Don’t forget to refer your friends and family!
International Mud Day is celebrated every year on June 29th as a way to connect children around the world through our earth by playing in … MUD!
In 2009, two members of the “Nature Action Collaborative for Children”, Gillian McAuliffe from Western Australia and Bishnue Bhatta from Nepal, discussed the many challenges their children faced with playing in the mud.
For Gillian, there was a lack of mud as her climate in Perth was settled on a sandy plain. Not only was there a lack of mud but there was also a reluctance from the children to “get themselves dirty.”
On the other hand, Bishnu had lots of mud in their climate in Nepal but had a lack of resources of clothes to be able to get them dirty or soap to be able to wash them clean. Gillian brought this conversation with Bishnue back to her group of 7 and 8-year-olds and decided to hold a fundraiser for the children in Nepal to send them clothes so that they could play in the mud! They were able to raise $1,000 to send to Bishnue to purchase clothes for their children, and in return, Bishnu arranged a special day for the children of the Panchkhal orphanage to participate in a special mud day with some money left over to include their first meal in five months.
Since this time, both Gillian and Bishnue have celebrated playing in the mud together while being in separate countries by forming a special bond amongst cultures. This, in turn, has inspired educators, children, and families across the globe to participate in this global event on June 29th every year!

Much like pigs, elephants, and Rhinoceroses enjoy laying around in the mud, most likely because it helps to lower their body temperature and cool them off!
Scientists discovered that playing in mud helps boost your mood due to the bacteria called Mycobacterium vaccae which increases the serotonin in our brains.
