President’s Letter

Dear Members,

In working with our team of outstanding Club professionals and consultants, one term that’s used a lot is “experience.” The core goal is to enhance the experience of members in every aspect of Club operations. I’m convinced more every day that the phrase “experience” really describes what members and families at TCC have enjoyed for many years, and in some cases for generations. It is bespoke excellent service and attention to detail in every aspect of Club operations. It’s the way that the Club and our team make all of us feel when we are dining or playing at our Club. If you’ve spent time at other clubs then you know that the kind of experience being delivered by our team at TCC is routinely outstanding. Enhancing and maintaining this is of paramount importance to our membership. It’s worth considering how to ensure that this is delivered consistently and gets better all the time.

Our Club is not simply a restaurant; it’s not a golf course; it’s not a tennis facility or a pool; and it’s not a resort. Although we have dining, golf, tennis, and beautiful facilities, the way in which our services are delivered to us as members presents something very different from experiences at a resort or hotel or restaurant. The core difference is that the experience is intended to be personalized to our membership and our families. It’s tailored to what we as a community value. It’s intended to have a warm, welcoming feeling. It goes beyond a public venue, no matter how expensive or selective.

Achieving this level of custom service is not easy. We can’t simply take talented employees from other hospitality facilities, transplant them to TCC and expect the kind of service that we’re used to and rightly expect. In recognition of this, our management team works to onboard and train employees to appreciate our culture and the standards of welcome and hospitality that are expected at TCC. This includes basics like understanding our Club’s traditions and rich history, getting to personally know members and their

families, and making sure members are treated with the courtesy and respect we expect.

While the work of our professional staff and management is critical in delivering this experience, there is a corresponding responsibility for all of us to take ownership of our Club, its facilities and its traditions. Because we’re not just resort guests, or customers, but rather have a stake in our Club and its success and culture, we all need to pay extra attention to how we interact with staff, and take care of our Club. If we see something out of place, bring it to the Club’s attention. We don’t walk past broken tees on the golf course or trash on campus, we stop to pick it up. We replace divots, we rake sand, we put towels away in their proper place. In short, we treat the Club like it belongs to us, because it does. We also treat the staff with the same courtesy and respect they give us.

While our membership and staff are very good, there is always room to improve. No team, institution or club stays the same, it’s either getting worse or getting better. We know we have to keep getting better. In recognition of this, General Manager Greg Sheara and his team have undertaken additional steps to ensure that food and beverage service meets our high expectations. Greg and his team are enhancing our onboarding and training process to ensure that existing staff and new hires recognize our Club’s service traditions and continue to build and enhance the level of service and courtesy our members expect. You’ll see the results of this in your experience in the months to come.

Respectfully,

Tom Bishop President

Membership

During this time each year we like to provide all TCC employees with the opportunity to complete an Employee Engagement Survey to gauge satisfaction with the Club as a whole. It is part of our mission to continuously strive to get better each year with meeting the needs of not only our members, but also our employees. This year, the survey received responses from more than 90 employees and revealed an overall positive engagement level across key areas.

An impressive 93% of employees stated they are proud to work at TCC, and the same percentage indicated they enjoy working at the Club and plan to stay for at least another year. About 90% of respondents feel appreciated by management and most notably, 96% feel that their supervisor or someone at work cares about them as a person. Overall, 90% of employees are satisfied or very satisfied with their experience at TCC.

Encouragingly, 86% of employees reported maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and 87% said they would recommend employment at TCC to a friend or family member.

When asked about specific employee opportunities, there was strong interest in expanding the current employee engagement offerings. Suggestions for new or recurring activities included pool parties, food trucks, quarterly massages, and themed game nights like Family Feud. Employees also expressed interest in fitness challenges, volunteer opportunities, and tournaments such as golf, pickleball and kickball.

Open-ended responses revealed that employees choose to stay at TCC largely due to the people they work with, the friendly and welcoming environment, supportive leadership, and flexibility in scheduling. Many commented on the strong sense of community and how TCC feels like a family.

As we move forward, the leadership team will utilize this feedback to help make sure our employees are happy and proud to work at TCC.

POOL ACCESS DURING FALL/WINTER SEASON

It’s important to us to ensure access to the pool is reserved for TCC members. To help reduce non-member access during the upcoming off season, we will be utilizing the same mobile key system we recently implemented at the Fitness Center using the TCC app. Starting on Wednesday, September 3, all members will be required to utilize the TCC app on their phone to access the pool daily. Since the pool is unguarded, even on the weekends until next spring, the gates will require electronic access at all times.

Those members and dependents who are enrolled in the app system and are 12 years of age and older will be automatically enrolled in the system with mobile key access, as 12 is the age when children may swim unaccompanied by a member.

For those who have not used this feature before, after you are automatically enrolled and you use it for the first time, you will see a waiver acknowledgement. After accepting the waiver and once in proximity to the pool gate, click the button and the gate will unlock. The gate will lock again after a few seconds. Please note, this button works for BOTH the Fitness Center and the Pool.

Additionally, when you leave the pool, you will need to push the green button on the stand at the top of the pool stairs near the gate (see image below).

The Club plans to lift this access control system during regular lifeguarding hours over the Spring and Summer.

Should you have any questions or have issues with the system, please contact the Concierge at concierge@timuquana.net or Kelly Thurlow, our Director of Communications and Marketing at kthurlow@timuquana.net 1. 2. 4.
