Show off your skills at skateboarding, scootering, or BMXing this summer and take part in prize winning competitions. The Skate Jam is a great way to meet new people, develop confidence and skills and even push yourself out of your comfort zone. You don’t have to know how to skate, scooter or BMX! You can still enjoy the atmosphere by watching participants, listening to music and meeting new people. If you catch the bug, we will have very skilled skate staff to help you get on that board. Just turn up, no need to book! Don’t forget, our staff will be supervising the skate park from 10am to 7pm between Saturday 22 July to Sunday 27 August 2017 where we will have equipment to hire and offer guidance if needed.

Heritage Day On Saturday 6 May 2017, the Handmade Heritage Day in Leavesden Country Park saw local history groups, museums, archive services and visual artists all provide captivating displays and activities which enabled people to learn, share their own stories and celebrate the heritage of the park. People created artworks for display in the park and to take home, as well as participate in a ‘Living History’ walk which was led by costumed

rendered in machine stitch over layers of fabric or recycled maps to create stunning pieces of artwork. Adding detail such as brick textures or the outlines of a building’s elevations observed during visits to the streets concerned, really brings these pieces to life.
