Welcome to Three Mile Beach

We’re so pleased to have you stay with us, and can’t wait for you to discover everything Three Mile Beach has to offer.

This is a concise guide on how everything works in your house and some other useful stuff. We’ve included QR codes to online instruction guides and the team will be happy to show you if anything is unclear.

Chomp

Chomp is our bar and restaurant nestled at the top of our site.

Please refer to threemilebeach.co.uk/chomp/or your beach house tablet next to the TV or kettle for details of opening times and menus.

Useful Information

You can find our HQ at the entrance to the site, opening hours are 9am – 7pm daily If you need anything, please do not hesitate to come down and say hello or contact us on the numbers opposite.

Your hot tub: Please be aware that we will need to check and dose every hot tub twice a day. It only takes us a few minutes and is required under health and safety legislation.

FRONT DOOR

Open – Enter your unique four-digit code followed by the # key. A light will flash.

Wait two seconds if you enter an incorrect code.

You will need this code each time to enter.

Close – Simply pull to. All doors are self-locking.

If locked out, please refer to the nearby signage, or contact the team.

INTERNET

Wifi-Fi password – Located at the front of this book or on a sign on your kitchen wall.

If you’re having connectivity issues at any point, please refrain from attempting to reset the internet using the internet access points. Please contact the team.

CONTROLLING THE LIGHTS

On/off – Make one short firm press.

Dim/brighten – Once light is on, press and hold to engage dim up, press and hold again to dim down.

Most hanging lights are dimmable. Spotlights are not.

Master lights off – Press the ‘M’ switch by your front door to turn off all house lights.

Pressing again will not turn the lights back on.

VELUX WINDOW CONTROLS

Controllers are located at the entrance of each room. The Velux windows are electric and solar-powered with rain sensors to shut automatically if heavy rain is detected.

Note: If the sensors are wet, the velux window will not open but the vents can still be opened.

Velux windows open/close – Press the up arrow or down arrow button to slowly open or close the Velux.

Velux blinds open/close – Press the up arrow to open or down arrow to close the blinds.

Mezzanine windows – Manually opened and closed using the handle at the top of the window.

Restrictors are fitted for safety.

BI-FOLD DOORS

Open/close – Rotate the handle upwards of the main outside door.

Rotate the handle upwards of the middle outside door.

Gently push the central hinged handle away from you and slide all doors in a concertina to one side.

All glass doors have built-in blinds.

Raise/lower – Slowly move the sliders up or down on each glass panel to suit.

Open/close – Very slowly and in small movements open or close the blinds.

Your fridge should be set to the correct temperature.

To open door – Press the button.

Changing the temperature – Press the ‘Adjust’ button on the control panel on the top right-hand side of the fridge to adjust level of refrigeration from ‘1’ (least cold) to ‘5’ (coldest).

Automatic temperature control – Press the ‘Mode’ button until the ‘Smart’ light is illuminated.

Fast freeze on/off – Press the ‘Mode’ button until the ‘Super’ light is illuminated to turn on/off.

This remains active for 54 hours or until turned off.

WASHER & DRYER

BOSCH WASHER & DRYER

Washing – Turn the programme selector to the desired programme. If necessary, adjust the temperature and spin speed.

Drying – Turn the programme selector to desired drying programme.

Washing – Press button to start and turn left hand programme selector to required programme. Adjust temperature, if necessary.

Please remove as much sand as possible from items before washing, as it can block pipes.

HOUSEKEEPING CUPBOARD

Your housekeeping cupboard can be found either next to your oven unit, in the corner of your living area or in the hallway next to the toilet.

Your hoover, mop, clothes airer, iron and ironing board are all stored in your housekeeping cupboard.

Ask HQ for anything else.

Also!

Pop dishwasher tablet into inside of the door compartment and close hatch.

Salt and rinse aid are not required.

KITCHEN

Filtered water tap – Your kitchen tap water is filtered.

Wine fridge – Ready to use with pre-set chilling temperature.

To open kettle lid – Press the middle button on the lid to open.

Toaster on/off – Twist number dial to select time, then press down silver knob to toast.

Press button to stop toasting.

Toaster defrost – Press the button to defrost and toast.

Toasting bagels – Press the button to toast outer edges only.

Smeg hand blender – Press power button for on/off.

Use boost button for quick bursts of power. Twist top during use to adjust intensity.

Watch out!

Please keep your hands away from the stainless-steel blade while the blender is plugged into a socket and take extra care while cleaning the unit after use.

TELEVISION & SOUNDBAR

TV internet connection – Your TV is already connected to the internet, an Amazon Firestick, Chromecast, and has access to other smart TV services.

TV on/off – Press red button on/off on your Samsung TV remote and allow a few seconds. A home page will appear. Either choose an option or press the home button to remove.

TV apps – Press the home button and select an app to access streaming services: Kids YouTube, YouTube, My 5, 4, itv X, iPlayer or the internet. Please note you will need to sign in with your own personal details to access each of these services. Please remember to sign out afterwards.

Streaming services – Your TV has both Firestick and Chromecast for accessing streaming services.

Use Firestick to access 3MB’s Netflix and Amazon Prime account or Chromecast to access any of your own personal accounts.

Amazon Firestick

To view 3MB’s Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts, use the Firestick.

3 Bed Hanging TV’s – Go to your TV home page and using your arrows on your TV remote, select Source , then HDMI 1. This activates the Firestick. Press home once more to remove the menu on your TV remote.

All other houses – Press home and arrow right to select Firestick input. (It sometimes appears as Apple TV).

To select streaming option – Use the Amazon Firestick remote to access available services. Use your arrow keys on the raised circle to navigate. Press the centre of the circle to select your streaming service option.

To return to TV – Using the Samsung TV remote press home, select Source again and then TV.

Chromecast

To view your personal streaming service accounts, use the Chromecast.

3 Bed Hanging TV’s – Select Source on your TV remote, then HDMI 2 to activate Chromecast.

All other houses – Follow the instructions below.

To select streaming option – On either your IOS or Android chosen device connect to your house WiFi

Go to your chosen Chromecast supported streamable app.

Select the cast icon at the top right or left corner of your screen. Select Living Room TV to cast to.

Once connected, the cast button will change colour (depending on the app). You are now ready to cast away!

Chromecast disconnect – To stop casting, tap the cast button again, icon will return to white and disconnect.

To return to TV – Turn off TV and turn back on. Alternatively, depending on your house TV set-up:

3 Bed Hanging TV’s – Select Source on your Samsung TV remote, then TV

All other houses – Press home on your Samsung TV remote and scroll across to Live TV.

Soundbar (where available)

The soundbar can be used with the TV or to listen to your music.

To connect/disconnect to TV – Turn on/off with the soundbar remote. Use for volume control.

To connect your Bluetooth device to Soundbar – Make sure your personal Bluetooth device is within a one metre distance to the soundbar. Press the Bluetooth pairing button on your remote and wait for led lights to flash red, green, and blue. Select [AV] Samsung Soundbar on your personal device list. When connection is successful, the colour changing LEDs will flash cyan three times. Choose your music and play.

Please note that we’ve limited the volume on the TV and soundbar. Thank you for understanding.

Books and games

You’ll find a selection of board games and books in a chest, on shelves in your living area or inside your TV media unit.

BEDROOMS

Bedside lights on/off – Press inline switch on the cable.

USB sockets – USB connections are on all double sockets for charging devices.

Hairdryer – A hairdryer is either in the wardrobe or on the hanging rail in every bedroom.

Round window shutters – Open and close by hand. Always close slats upwards. Open towards you to open window.

Safe – Located in principle bedroom wardrobe. Your code will be initially set to 1234

Follow instructions on your safe to set your own security code.

If you cannot access your safe, contact a team member, who’ll be around to help.

Please leave open when you depart.

Beach games – A bag of beach games, along with a tent and a picnic blanket are available during your stay and can be found under the bed in the principle bedroom of each house. Please return after use.

Mezzanines

Watch out!

We’ve included child safety covers to prevent the use of ladders while unsupervised.

If you choose not to use the safety covers, please ensure your children are comfortable with, and careful, while climbing in and out of the mezzanines.

BATHROOMS

Velux and lighting controls – Located outside your bathroom door.

Infrared sensors – Automatically control low-level lighting at night when movement is detected.

Showers – To switch between the rain shower and handheld shower, turn the selector handle left for the shower, and right for handheld. To control water temperature, turn the tap left for hotter water and clockwise for cooler.

Heated towel rails on/off – Press the thermostat button found on the bottom right of the rail, then the + and – either side to increase/decrease heat. Please turn off when not in use.

Heated mirrors – Mirrors are heated.

Shaver sockets – Located under the sink in the ensuite to principle bedroom.

Corded blinds – Are integrated into the windows with a pull system.

In-bedroom baths – Some houses have a bath inside the master bedroom.

To fill bath, turn the handle to the left or to the right to use the showerhead.

Hallway WC – An automatic light will turn on and off.

Fan isolation switches – Located outside of each bathroom door to the top and should always be on.

HEATING

Underfloor heating – Temperatures are automatically pre-set. Please note that the underfloor systems are quite slow, so for a quick boost, try lighting your wood burner. Still finding your home too cool, contact HQ who can change it remotely.

Wood burning stove

Safety first! Before use, please put on the heatproof glove, which can be found by your log basket.

To open door – Using your gloved hand, lift the handle of the wood burner door upwards to open.

To build your fire – Place some kindling from your log basket into your wood burner to make a jenga-like stack (10–12 pieces works well). Place 2 firelighters/twizzlers on top of the stack.

Air vent lever open (to make fire) – (Located underneath the wood burner between the front wooden legs).

To allow the flow of air needed to make your fire, check the air vent lever is open by pulling the lever towards you.

To light your wood burning stove – Take the lighter (from the kitchen top right hand drawer) and light the firelighters. Close the door by pulling the handle of the wood burner downwards. Leave the kindling to burn for a few minutes, then open the door, adding in a couple of kiln dried logs before shutting it again.

Air vent lever closed (to stop fire) – To cut off the airflow to stop using the burner, push the lever in.

CAUTION: If the wood burner is operating or has been on recently, it will be extremely hot. After use, the ash can sometimes take over 12 hours to completely cool down, so do not touch. Please always handle the wood burner with the heatproof glove provided. Keep children supervised at all times.

You will also find extra logs in the log store next to your barbeque outside.

HOT TUB & SAUNA

Hot tub

Hot tub temperature – Your hot tub temperature is pre-set to 40°C.

Please be aware, daily between 9–11am and 3–5pm, one of our site team will need to access your hot tub to test the water. It takes less than 5 minutes. Thank you for your understanding.

Hot tub jets & lights – Press the jets button once, after a 30 second delay, the jets will turn on.

Press the lights button to turn on the built-in light. Turn the chrome knob to alter the jets intensity.

Sauna

Sauna light – To turn on the sauna light, press the white switch next to the glass door on the outside of the sauna.

Sauna on/off – Turn the right-hand controller showing white backed numbers 1–4 in hours on the base of the heating unit to set the timer, allow 1 hour for sauna to heat up.

Sauna delayed on/off – To delay your sauna start, use the black-backed numbers to set the pre-heat timer in hours.

Sauna temperature – To change your sauna temperature, use the left controller on the base of the heating unit. You’ll also find a ladle and water bucket for increasing humidity located inside the sauna.

Example: If you’re going for a three-hour outing, setting the time controller to a black backed ‘2’ will turn the heater on in two hours, and allow one hour to reach the set temperature.

Watch out!

Before you operate your hot tub and sauna, please make sure you read the nearby health and safety notices. Please take extra precaution using these facilities if you have children or you’re pregnant.

Sauna Controllers

OUTDOORS

Bollard Lights – Press the labelled outdoor switch once by the bi-fold doors, to turn on lights for 2 hours. Bollard lights can not be turned off.

Festoon lights – Press the grey labelled switch to turn lights on and off. Please turn off when not In use

Wall mounted lights – These lights switch on automatically as the light fades in the evening.

Power – External power sockets are located inside waterproof boxes. To access, pull the tab in the centre underneath the socket. Please re-seal after use and avoid use with wet hands or when raining. Please do not allow use by younger children.

Warm Shower (left hand side) – Turn the tap to turn on/off the shower. The water temperature is pre-set, so allow 30 seconds to reach temperature. Turn off water when finished.

Cold Shower (right hand side)– Turn the tap to turn on/off the shower. The water temperature is unheated. Turn off water when finished.

Gas Barbecue on/off – Open hood before lighting. Push in and turn right-hand side knob counterclockwise to ‘High’. If ignition does not occur, return to ‘Off’ and repeat. Once the right-hand side burner is alight, light each successive burner from right to left. Turn knob (without pushing) clockwise to the ‘off’ position after use.

Also! If the gas barbecue ignition is wet, the ignition may not light, contact HQ for help.

Extending sail shades – With the help of a partner, unlock the latches attached to posts, then pull the pulley cord on the single-latched side to extend the sail across your deck.

Clip the latches down once extended.

Retracting sail shades – With the help of a partner, unclip the latches by lifting upwards, and slowly pull down on the rope attached to the double-latched post. Retain tension on the single latched rope to create a neater wrap.

Watch out!

Always re-wrap your sail shade at the end of the day. To avoid any fire risk, do not use your barbecue when opening and closing the sail. If the weather forecast predicts strong winds and heavy rain, re-wrap your sail, and make sure the clips are securely fastened.

WASTE & RECYCLING

We’re passionate about sustainability, so we’ve provided you with three bins to separate your recyclable materials and general waste.

Collected Weekly

Mixed Recycling – Clean & dry recyclables only. Includes plastics, cardboard, and metal drinks cans etc.

General Waste – For all non-recyclable products and food waste.

Glass – This includes any glass bottles, jars, cups etc.

Also: See labels on bin stores outside of your beach house.

Watch out!

Our local waste teams will need access to your bins, so it’s important that you leave them a clear walkway.

Occasionally, your bins may be full on arrival, this is due to only the one weekly bin collection here at 3MB.

If you notice your bins are getting full or are full, contact HQ as soon as possible so we can sort it.

HOUSE RULES

Noise – Please be respectful to other guests and neighbours.

Fireworks/BBQ’s – No fireworks or bbq’s on the beach or neighbouring sand dunes (Towans).

Dog waste bags/bins – Dog bins and waste bags are located on site.

Smoking/Vaping – No smoking or vaping in or near our beach houses.

Naked flames - Please avoid lighting candles or any other naked flames.

Local buses

The nearest bus stop to Three Mile Beach is by the Red River pub in Gwithian Village.

Here you can get buses to Hayle which is on the main bus network.

To plan your journey use the route planner on the First Bus website firstbus.co.uk/cornwall.

Trains

The closest train station to Three Mile Beach is Hayle, and trains from here go west to Penzance or back up country via Truro and Exeter to London. For train information, tickets and timetables see thetrainline.com

St Erth Park & Ride to St Ives – To avoid driving to and parking in St Ives, get the St Ives Bay line train at

St Erth Park & Ride, Station Approach, St Erth, Hayle TR27 6JW. The scenic 10-minute journey runs twice an hour during the day, 7 days a week, all year round.

COAST SAFETY

Beach

Lifeguards – Operate 10am – 6pm from Easter until end of October.

Please follow their advice, check their safety information boards, and always stay within patrolled areas.

Fireworks and BBQ’s – Are strictly prohibited.

Please note there are no bins on the beach so be sure to take home and carefully dispose of your rubbish.

Cliffs and rocks

Cliffs – Take extreme care near cliff edges, particularly with young children and dogs. Avoid foot of cliffs for danger of falling debris.

Rocks – Avoid standing on rocks near the sea edge due to risk of large waves.

Dunes

Dunes – Stick to footpaths and be mindful of the delicate wildlife habitat. Be aware of cliffs between the dunes and the beach which could collapse, avoid children digging tunnels into them.

Adders – Be aware, Adders, which are venomous can be found in the dunes and on Godrevy Head. Make sure children stick to the path and keep your dog on a lead. If you do spot one, don’t get too close or try to pick it up.

Emergency services – Call 999 for Ambulance, Fire, Police or Coastguard.

Provide the operator with your house name and our address.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

SAUNA RULES

Please do

• Take a shower before using sauna

• Make sure there’s more than one person in the sauna at all times

• Remove jewellery, glasses and contact lenses

• Use a towel at all times

• Stay in for 15 minutes max and cool off before you get back in

• Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water before and after use

• Dry off before heading back inside

Please do not

• Use the sauna if you suffer from: diabetes, heart, blood or circulatory disorders, respiratory disorders, kidney disease, migraine, epilepsy, if you are pregnant or have any underlying health conditions

• Allow use of Sauna to under-16s

• Use if you are under the influence of alcohol or narcotics

HOT TUB RULES

Please do

• Ensure the cover is on and secured when not in use

• Use for maximum of 20 mins before cooling off

• Take care when entering and leaving the hot tub

• Use the metal cups provided rather than glass

• Contact HQ if any fault or damage occurs with the hot tub

• Check with a doctor before use if you suffer from: heart disease, diabetes, low or high blood pressure or any serious illness or if pregnant

• Shower with soap and water before and after using the hot tub

• Take extra care on the decking/hot tub steps as water from the tub can cause it to be slippery.

• Leave the hot tub and rinse off in the shower if any allergic reaction occurs. If the reaction persists speak with a local doctor or A&E.

Please do not

• Use if suffering any infections or have open wounds

• Use under the influence of alcohol or narcotics

• Immerse your head in the hot tub water

• Use the hot tub alone

• Use any electrical appliances near/in the hot tub

• Allow use for children under 4 years old

• Allow hot tub water in any user’s mouth

• Allow children to use unsupervised

• Use the hot tub immediately after a heavy meal/exercising

• Run on the decking before or after use as it can become slippery and be sure to dry off before going back inside.

• Use soap or other products outside, it’ll make the deck slippery

Note: To comply with HSE regulations the hot tub water is checked every morning and afternoon.

OUTDOOR SHOWERS

The warm shower is heated, please check the temperature before use.

The cold shower is unheated and runs cold, as does the low level outdoor tap.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Power cut

Check circuit breaker – Check your circuit breakers located in the utility cupboard in case they have tripped. Make sure all breakers are in the same upwards position.

Access key for utility cupboard – The key is in the cupboard above your microwave. Enter code 1704 to retrieve the key to access utility cupboard and circuit breakers.

Troubleshooting:

Local power outage – If your circuit board is in working order and your alarm system makes an audible beep, your power should return soon. If unsure, call our emergency line 07990 605238.

To silence security alarm (starts beeping after power cut) – enter the master code 1704.

Water leak

In the event of a significant leak, you can shut the water off.

To shut off water – Turn off the master valve under the kitchen sink.

If you notice a minimal amount of water coming from one of your appliances, contact HQ as soon as possible.
