in a plane crash, former Taraba State governor, Mr. Dambaba Danfulani Suntai, died yesterday at his home in Orlando, Florida in the
United States, where he was undergoing rehabilitation. The former governor, who flew the light plane that crashed on October 25, 2012,
never fully recovered from the accident. Mr. Emmanuel Bello, a former Commissioner for Information in the state,
broke the news of the death. He became governor of Taraba State in 2007 and was sworn-in again on May 29, 2011 for a second term.

As the nation goes through a difficult phase of sectional tension, a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd.) has admonished Nigerians to show love for each other and shun divisive actions and utterances. Gowon, who led Nigeria to fight the three-year civil war against the secession of Biafra between 1967 and 1970, urged leaders in all sectors – religious and
secular – to embrace the fear of God if the nation must attain national development. The one-time military leader, in an address he presented at the 2017 annual seminar of the Knights of St. John’s International Commandery 574, Abuja, with the theme, “The Role of the Fear of God in Nation Building,” expressed concern over the current developments in the country.
