REGISTRATION

Program registration is open on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is encouraged. Registration on event day not permitted unless space and supplies allow.

CLASS MINIMUMS AND MAXIMUMS

All programs must meet a minimum number of participants to be held. If an event is full, be sure to sign up for the waiting list as new programs may be added to meet demand.

REFUND POLICY

i. Full refunds will be given to participants who have registered for a class or program that has been cancelled by The Woodlands Township.

ii. If the participant requests a refund more than three (3) days prior to the start of any class or program, one day class or program or recurring class or program, they will receive a full refund less a $5.00 service charge.

iii. If the participant attends the first day of class or program and for any reason is not satisfied, they will receive a full refund less the $5.00 processing fee.

iv. Participants must submit a refund request prior to the second class/program meeting. After the second day of class/program, NO refunds will be available.

v. Fees associated with online transactions are not refundable.

vi. No cash refunds are given. A refund check may take up to four weeks to process and receive.

WAIVER REQUIRED

All guests and participants must sign a waiver to participate in any Township program. Waivers must be acknowledged during the registration process prior to participation. Please see page 34 for the waiver.

FEE / REGISTRATION

Registration must be completed online by camper’s parent/guardian. Full week sessions only.

Weekly Fee: $230

REFUNDS

Campers will be charged for the entire week, regardless of the number of days they attend.

• Refunds for Sunny Dayz Camp may be processed online by logging into your Sunny Dayz UltraCamp account at sunnydayzcamp.com.

• Cancellations/Refunds must be submitted no later than 6 p.m. the Saturday 9 days prior to the camper’s registered week.

• Enrollment dates are not allowed to roll over from week to week if a camper does not attend.

• Camp days are not transferable between camp locations.

• Lunch – Campers are very active and often require more food each day than is needed during the school year! A balanced lunch helps them to re-fuel.

Both Recreation Centers will be providing STEAM projects for campers to complete each Thursday.

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING, Ages 13 to 15

Does your child want to begin gaining work experience within a fun, dynamic camp setting? Sign up now for our Counselor in Training Leadership Development Program! Each participant will receive official CIT camp shirts and will participate weekly in special activities and field trips. The CIT Leadership Development Program is offered exclusively at the Bear Branch Sunny Dayz Camp location. Weekly Fee: $175 (Full payment due at time of registration, payment plans / daily rates not available.)

TEEN CAMP, Ages 13 to 15

Teen Camp is offered exclusively at the Rob Fleming Sunny Dayz Camp location and is priced at the standard Sunny Dayz rates for the full 11 weeks. Dependent on attendance, Teen Campers may be merged with the older Adventurer camper group as warranted.

This extension of the Sunny Dayz program offers campers ages 13 to 15 the opportunity to participate in activities that are more age appropriate. Teen campers will go on Teen Camp only field trips including Hurricane Harbor, Top Golf and many more! Crafts and STEAM projects are more complex and designed to challenge older campers.

See the descriptions of these exciting camps on pages 10 though 13! Participants attending only a morning or afternoon camp need to bring one snack and a refillable water bottle. Participants attending a full day of camp need to bring two snacks, a lunch and a refillable water bottle. Food products containing nuts are not permitted.

REFUND POLICY

The Thursday prior to the camp week is the deadline to transfer or opt out and receive a refund (minus a $5 administrative fee). Please contact the front desk as soon as possible after the first class if you are unsatisfied for any reason. Refunds cannot be accommodated after the second class has met.

BUILDING BRAINS

LEGO® Engineering I

BUILDING BRAINS uses LEGO® and K’NEX educational kits to build math and science (S.T.E.M.) skills. Students will build simple machines that really work, using gears, levers and pulleys, while building fine motor skills, sequential thinking skills, problem solving skills and confidence.

LEGO® Engineering II

Learn to build simple machines using gears, levers and pulleys and then motorize these machines using LEGO® and K’NEX educational kits and curriculum while building math and science (S.T.E.M.) skills. Written engineering curriculum reinforces the classroom curriculum with hands on education. We will also work with solar and pneumatic energy.

LEGO® III: Intro to Robotics

Campers will expand on their engineering skills learned in LEGO® II by building simple machines and then learning basic programming. This class will teach beginning programming principals, which lead to robotics. Each simple machine we build will be programmed to perform a function, such as movement, lighting, sound and music. Best to have taken LEGO® II first

THE CODER SCHOOL

Robocode & Drone Camp

Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto! If you’re excited by the thought of controlling physical robots, look no further than our Robocode camp! After that kids will program drones to zoom, fly, and perform awesome tricks. Packed with hands-on projects and fun challenges, this camp is perfect for young inventors who love to explore, tinker, and imagine! NOTE: Campers are required to bring their own laptops or Chromebooks to participate in the camp

Minecraft VR + Python & AI Bootcamp!

Code it. Create it. Play it -in VR! Campers will build custom Minecraft mods with MCreator, learn to program with Python, and explore the world of AI using Google’s Teachable Machine. Then, they’ll step inside the game they created using the Meta Oculus VR headset! Campers must bring a Windows or Mac laptop (no tablets) with MCreator pre-installed. Let’s build the future - block by block and in virtual reality!

Embark on an around-the-world cultural adventure - explore far-off places and learn about the people who live overseas. Experiment with Crayola® products, while trying art techniques developed by local artists and artisans.

Let the wonder and beauty of the animal kingdom inspire your empathy and curiosity, while learning about how wildlife conservationists are working to protect endangered species around the globe. From sea creatures of the deep to phoenixes in the sky, its legends inspire awe, curiosity, and surprise; they all inspire our imaginations! Circus Arts Camp

An experience designed to introduce children to circus, performing, and visual arts in a safe and noncompetitive environment. Any level of physical development & skill is welcome. Your camper will receive circus arts instruction and have the time of their life learning to perform with silks, special hoops and loops, the art of magic, balloon art and get all fancy with clown face painting. Tricky Tuesday, Wild Wednesday, Fantastic Friday, Theater Thursday and Surprise Monday!!! It’s the greatest camp on Earth and your child can be part of the fun!

SUPERHEROES – Cartooning and Writing

Learn to develop characters, story lines and the basics of cartooning. Tell your own story! Designed for all levels of writing from creating a sentence to writing a short story. The scaffold instruction will make writing fun. By weeks end, campers will complete comic strips and short stories featuring your original characters.

Creative Contraption Warning! This is a camp designed by you—the Inventor! Each day you’ll be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from world famous inventors, and the most important thing of all – your mind. With a little bit of ingenuity, you will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks to take home, and assemble a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. While Thomas Edison said, “invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration,” this camp is 100% FUN!

Mission to Mars and Planet Exploration

in Minecraft

In this camp, students will embark on an exciting and educational adventure as they design, build, and explore a realistic Mars mission within the Minecraft universe. By the end of the camp, campers will have a fully developed Mars base, completed vehicles for exploration, and a deeper understanding of both the Minecraft building process and the real-life challenges of space exploration. The camp fosters creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking while immersing students in an exciting simulation of a mission to Mars.

Game Development in

Scratch by MIT

In this camp, campers will learn how to design and create their own interactive games using Scratch. They will explore key game design concepts, such as character creation, level design, and storytelling, while using Scratch’s visual programming blocks to bring their ideas to life. Campers will create sprites, design game mechanics, and incorporate challenges and rewards. Throughout the camp, they will refine their coding skills, test their games, and share the creations with others. Build Your City in Roblox Studio 7

In this camp, campers will engage in hands-on learning where they can design, create, and manage their own virtual cities using Roblox

Studio. They will start out by learning the basics of Roblox Studio, where they will create stunning 3D buildings, roads, parks, and more. By the end of the camp, the campers will have a fully functional, personalized city that they can share with the Roblox community and show off to their friends and family.

Create with Canva and Photoshop

In the Create with Canva Photoshop camp, campers will spend the week exploring graphic design and digital creativity using both Canva and Adobe Photoshop. By the end of the camp, campers will have a portfolio of creative projects and a solid understanding of both Canva and Photoshop for digital design.

Have your child building skills this summer while exploring the world of H.A. and Margaret Rey, reading Curious George books and learning to draw different pictures inspired by them. An Island ARTventure

Discover beautiful Polynesia! In this 3-day workshop, children will create original characters, traditional Polynesian flower crowns, breathtaking ocean scenes with Waʻa Kaulua boats, and the serene landscapes of island huts and native plants. DROP-IN BASKETBALL, Ages 18+

Drop-In Basketball for adults is a great way to stay fit, meet people, and have fun. Come join other players for some friendly hoops. Teams are made up on arrival. Participants will referee the games themselves. For more information, call Bear Branch Rec Center at 281-210-3950.

SUMMER SOLSTICE YOGA, Ages 18+

Celebrate the official start of Summer with a yoga celebration. Drop in and Zen out with your own noise-reducing headset that allows for music and instruction to be fed directly to your ears, creating a completely immersive way to enjoy yoga! All levels of experience are welcome. Blocks and straps recommended.

TAI CHI MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAMS, Ages 16+

Sifu David Neighbors is a Black Belt instructor with over 30 years experience in teaching Tai Chi. Sifu Neighbors’ Tai Martial Art’s programs are geared towards maintaining strength, flexibility, and improving balance. Summer classes run June through August.

COUNTRY AND WESTERN DANCING, Ages 16+

Learn basic steps and turns, while working on leading and following. A second dance, polka, is introduced in the Intermediate class. Partners encouraged!

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in any program, activity or event, (referred to herein as the “Program”) sponsored by, performed by, or in any way involving The Woodlands Township, I, as Participant, or if Participant is a minor, as parent or guardian of the minor Participant (herein referred to as “I”) and intending to be legally bound do hereby acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. I hereby waive, discharge, and release any and all rights and claims for damages whether based upon negligence or any other theory of law, which I, or my child, heirs, agents, representatives, or assigns may have against The Woodlands Township, and its affiliates, agents, representatives, assigns, or successors including, without limitation,: any officers, directors, shareholders, agents and/or employees of or associated with The Woodlands Township, the municipalities or counties in or through which the programs or events take place or are conducted, as well as any other person, entity or sponsor connected with the Program and any of their affiliates, agents, representatives, assigns, successors, officers, directors, shareholders, and employees, for any and all injuries or damages which I, or my child, may suffer while taking part in the Program.

2. I hereby assume any and all of the foregoing risks resulting from my, or my child’s, participation in the Program and accept all personal responsibility for any resulting damage including, but not limited to, injury, permanent disability or death.

3. I hereby verify that I, or my child, am/is in good physical health and able to participate in and/or complete the Program.

4. I hereby agree and understand the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk(s) of participation in the programs, services, events or facilities operated by The Woodlands Township which include the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19.

5. I HEREBY AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP HARMLESS FROM AND AGAINST ALL LIABILITIES FOR ANY INJURY WHICH MAY BE SUFFERED BY THE PARTICIPANT ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH HIS/HER PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM.

6. I have read and fully understood this Waiver and Release. I further understand that by participating in the Program, I/we will have waived substantial rights.

7. I have knowingly and voluntarily agreed to this Waiver and Release.

FOR PARENTS OF PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18

I affirm and acknowledge that I, as parent/guardian with legal responsibility for the Participant, do consent and agree to his/her release as provided by the Waiver and Release herein.

MEDIA/PHOTO WAIVER:

I hereby authorize and give my full consent to The Woodlands Township and their agents and assigns to take, copyright and/or publish any and all photographs, videotapes and/or film (the “Media”) in which I, or my child, may appear while participating in the Program. I further authorize that The Woodlands Township to transfer, use or cause to be used, the Media in any exhibitions, public displays, publications, commercials, art and advertising purposes, without limitations or reservations.
