Program registration is open on a first come, first served basis. Early registration is encouraged. Registration on event day not permitted unless space and supplies allow.

Class Minimums and Maximums

All programs must meet a minimum number of participants to be held. If an event is full, be sure to sign up for the waiting list, new programs may be added to meet demand.

Refund Policy

Full refunds will be given to participants who have registered for a class or program that has been cancelled by The Woodlands Township.

If the participant requests a refund more than three (3) days prior to the start of any class or program, one day class or program or recurring class or program, they will receive a full refund less a $5.00 service charge.

If the participant attends the first day of class or program and for any reason is not satisfied, they will receive a full refund less the $5.00 processing fee.   Participants must submit a refund request prior to the second class/program meeting.  After the second day of class/program, NO refunds will be available.  Fees associated with online transactions are not refundable. No cash refunds are given. A refund check may take up to four weeks to process and receive.

Accommodations

The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department welcomes people of all ability levels to enjoy and participate in its wide variety of quality programs and services. Questions regarding special accommodations should be directed to recreation staff at 281-210-3950. The Parks and Recreation Department complies with Title II Standards of the American with Disabilities Act.

Waiver Required

All guests and participants must sign a waiver to participate in any Township program. Waivers must be acknowledged during the registration process prior to participation. Please see page 39 for the waiver.

Jump Into the Action This Fall / Winter!

Texas TreeVentures is a three-level, non-linear, and self-guided aerial adventure course that offers a “challengeby-choice” experience with nearly 100 unique obstacles and elements designed to test your limits and elevate your adventure.

Open to both youth and adults (age and weight restrictions apply), Texas TreeVentures is the perfect destination for families, friends, and thrill-seekers looking to push themselves to new heights—literally! Whether you're navigating rope bridges, swinging through elements, or conquering climbing challenges, there's something for every adventurer. Availabilities are limited so reserving ahead of time is strongly recommended.

Texas TreeVentures hours of operation vary day-to-day. Visit our website to view a live availability calendar and to make your reservation. Timeslots are regularly available on Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Whether you’re looking to paddle along The Woodlands Waterway or explore the open waters of Lake Woodlands, our two boat houses offer the perfect way to enjoy a day outdoors. Every rental includes paddles and lifejackets, and all guests must complete a liability waiver before heading out. Children under 10 must be accompanied by someone 16 or older.

For a unique twist on your shopping or dining experience, visit Swans at the Mall! Glide through the Woodlands Waterway canal in a swan pedal boat while you wait for a table or take a relaxing break from shopping at The Woodlands Mall. Moonlight Paddle, All Ages

Experience the magic of Lake Woodlands after dark! Join us for a serene, staff-led paddle through the illuminated canal and around Aria Island. Whether you're in a single or tandem kayak, this glowing night on the water is perfect for families, friends, or date nights. While no kayaking experience is required, we recommend it for this nighttime outing. Kayaks and lights are provided—just bring your sense of wonder! Preregistration is required.

Starlight Swan Rides, All Ages

Waterway to spend a night! Join us for a spectacular Friday evening on the Upper Woodlands Waterway. Riva Row Boat House will be open extended hours for this program so that you can take a journey down the lit-up waterway on one of our comfortable swan pedal boats. Preregistration is required.

Fee: $50 (Swan Boat fits up to 4 people)

Painting in the Trees, Ages 18+

Enjoy a relaxing outdoor painting experience. Follow step-by-step instructions or create your own design surrounded by peaceful nature. We will take a short walk from the recreation center to our scenic painting spot. All materials are provided—canvas, paint, brushes, and apron. Bring your favorite snacks or drinks and unwind as we end the session with a beautiful sunset.

Puzzle Palooza, Ages 10+

Teams work together to complete a 500-piece puzzle in a race against the clock and each other. Teams are limited to four individuals.

The Founders Cup, Ages 18+

The Woodlands Township 2nd Annual Doubles Tennis Tournament

Relive the simple life with our family campout. Activities include archery, kayaking, crafts, outdoor movie, hikes, games, campfire and s’mores. Families will set up their tents on the field and participate in activities throughout the park in the amphitheater, trails and open space. The experience is priceless!

Glow And Go 5K

The Woodlands Waterway

The chip-timed 5K course will wind throughout the Holiday on The Waterway lights, providing a scenic route and fun, enjoyable atmosphere fostering friendly competition. Runners are encouraged to dress in their best glow costumes in the spirit of the Holidays!

Pumpkin Splash, Ages 4 to 12

COSTUMES ENCOURAGED! Bring your flashlight and trick or treating bag to hunt for candy! Prizes will be awarded for best costume and for those that find the hidden Halloween surprise. The Lighting of the Doves festival is a long-standing tradition in The WoodIands that signifies the start of the holiday season in the community. Chill out with a family-friendly trivia night at the Ice Rink! Put your knowledge to the test while having a blast on the ice. Teams of all ages will compete to answer questions on a variety of topics, from sports and music to science and pop culture.

Jingle Boats, All Ages

This family-fun adventure will have you wishing for a kayak under the tree this holiday season! Participants will depart from Riva Row Boat House in search of presents down The Waterway, then back to the boat house for holiday treats and a special visitor!

Holiday on The Waterway Swans, All Ages

Glide along the Woodlands Waterway while it is lit up with festive lighting displays all the way to Waterway Square! This festive version of our fan-favorite Starlight Swans program will be offered every Friday-Sunday during the holiday season after dark. Bring your friends, family, and loved ones and take in the mesmerizing displays and listen to the ambient holiday music throughout the waterway while pedaling and sipping on hot cocoa.

Drip Irrigation Workshop, Ages 18+

The Woodlands Township Town Hall

Learn basic system design and installation with local expert, Bob Dailey. In this workshop, Dailey will teach participants how to convert existing spray heads to drip, create drip from a hose bib, or install a new drip irrigation system.

Learn from Houston Falconers all about local birds of prey and how they train, care for and hunt with their birds. You will have the opportunity to encounter some of these trained birds and to ask the falconers questions about falconry.

Volunteer – Team up with friends, family, or your organization to volunteer at one of the Parks and Recreation Department special events. This is a great way to give back to the community, earn volunteer credits, and enjoy events from a behind the scenes perspective.

Host a program – Do you have a passion you want to share with the community? The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department partners with individuals in our community to host classes at the Recreation Centers and local parks.

Waiver And Release Form

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in any program, activity or event, (referred to herein as the “Program”) sponsored by, performed by, or in any way involving The Woodlands Township, I, as Participant, or if Participant is a minor, as parent or guardian of the minor Participant (herein referred to as “I”) and intending to be legally bound do hereby acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. I hereby waive, discharge, and release any and all rights and claims for damages whether based upon negligence or any other theory of law, which I, or my child, heirs, agents, representatives, or assigns may have against The Woodlands Township, and its affiliates, agents, representatives, assigns, or successors including, without limitation,: any officers, directors, shareholders, agents and/or employees of or associated with The Woodlands Township, the municipalities or counties in or through which the programs or events take place or are conducted, as well as any other person, entity or sponsor connected with the Program and any of their affiliates, agents, representatives, assigns, successors, officers, directors, shareholders, and employees, for any and all injuries or damages which I, or my child, may suffer while taking part in the Program.

2. I hereby assume any and all of the foregoing risks resulting from my, or my child’s, participation in the Program and accept all personal responsibility for any resulting damage including, but not limited to, injury, permanent disability or death.

3. I hereby verify that I, or my child, am/is in good physical health and able to participate in and/or complete the Program.

4. I hereby agree and understand the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk(s) of participation in the programs, services, events or facilities operated by The Woodlands Township which include the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19.

5. I HEREBY AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD THE WOODLANDS TOWNSHIP HARMLESS FROM AND AGAINST ALL LIABILITIES FOR ANY INJURY WHICH MAY BE SUFFERED BY THE PARTICIPANT ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH HIS/HER PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM.

6. I have read and fully understood this Waiver and Release. I further understand that by participating in the Program, I/we will have waived substantial rights.

7. I have knowingly and voluntarily agreed to this Waiver and Release.

FOR PARENTS OF PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18

I affirm and acknowledge that I, as parent/guardian with legal responsibility for the Participant, do consent and agree to his/ her release as provided by the Waiver and Release herein.

MEDIA/PHOTO WAIVER:

I hereby authorize and give my full consent to The Woodlands Township and their agents and assigns to take, copyright and/ or publish any and all photographs, videotapes and/or film (the “Media”) in which I, or my child, may appear while participating in the Program. I further authorize that The Woodlands Township to transfer, use or cause to be used, the Media in any exhibitions, public displays, publications, commercials, art and advertising purposes, without limitations or reservations.

HOLIDAY ON THE WATERWAY

From November 22 through January 4, this enchanting light trail transforms the heart of The Woodlands into a glowing winter wonderland. Visitors can stroll along the Waterway from Town Green Park to The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, enjoying twinkling light tunnels, oversized ornaments, illuminated snowflakes, and festive photo spots on both sides of the path.
