Nursing Services at the Westfield Senior Center Nursing services are available at the Westfield Senior Center, 45 Noble Street, thanks to the generosity of Baystate Noble Hospital. Mary Ellen Asher, RN, is at the Senior Center Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and can assist older adults with blood pressure checks, medication review, blood glucose testing, and one-to-one health education. There is no charge for this service and no advance appointments are necessary.

Weight Watchers at the Russell Senior Center There has been some interest in offering Weight Watches at the Russell Senior Center. Weight Watchers, which is now call WW, is a totally new program. The meetings, now called studios, run on 15 week sessions and will be held at the Senior Center and run by certified WW leaders. This is in the formative stages, please leave a message for Carrie Florek at 862-6205 if interested. This contact will not obligate you in any way. If there is enough interest, the COA will continue working with WW on cost, time and other information.

Meals on Wheels Drivers Needed The Southwick Senior Center is looking for Volunteer drivers to deliver meals to the homebound throughout the week. Mileage reimbursement will be given. Stop by the center if interested.

Hearing Aid Service Expanded at the Westfield Senior Center For several years, Jeff Halls from Baystate Hearing Aids has been at the Westfield Senior Center, 45 Noble Street, on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon. Because of an increased demand for this type of service, Gary Wynn owner of New Ears in Southwick will be at the Senior Center on the second Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Both Jeff and Gary are Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialists. They evaluate each participant’s needs on an individual basis including accurate hearing screening, in-the-canal earwax inspection, hearing aid cleaning, and free minor repairs including tubing replacements. Visits are approximately 15 to 30 minutes in length. The informational and testing services provided at the Westfield Senior Center are free of charge to those who have an appointment. Mercy Medical Center Provides Mastectomy Bra and Prosthesis Fitting Service The Breast Care Center at Mercy Medical Center has added a bra-fitting service for women who have undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy. The service is provided by Mary Aframe, a certified Mastectomy Fitter, who can also help women select prosthetic devices. Mary also offers a custom prosthesis using a 3-D scanning technique. Light and comfortable, this custommade prosthesis fits the shape of the individual's chest wall. Berkshire Mountain Boys Sing Songs of Yesteryear The Berkshire Mountain Boys keep the old songs alive with their repertoire of bluegrass, gospel, folk ballads, and country music of yesteryear on Sunday, July 14 at 2 pm at the Historic North Hall in Huntington. The Berkshire Mountain Boys began with Phil Pothier on autoharp and vocals and Charlie Mihlek on guitar and vocals, who have been performing together for over 50 years locally and across the country. They grew to a quartet by adding Dan Damkauskas on banjo and

YMCA of Greater Westfield to Offer MIGHTY Pediatric Weight Management Program The YMCA of Greater Westfield, in collaboration with Baystate Health, is offering the MIGHTY (Moving, Improving, and Gaining Health Together at the YMCA) program, beginning July 16. MIGHTY, funded by a grant from Kohl’s Cares, is an evidence-based, multicomponent pediatric weight management program for children with a body mass index above the 95th percentile. This free program meets twice per month, over a sixmonth period. During each two-hour session, children and their families engage with exercise specialists, nutritionists and behavioral health workers in classroom instruction and group exercise sessions. The upcoming session is for children between the ages of 10-13. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 4-6 pm beginning July 16. To be eligible for the MIGHTY Program, participants must be at or above the 95th percentile for body mass index (BMI), provide a

Open Air Open Mics Begin WESTFIELD ­­- For the fourth summer Westfield will host Open Air Open Mic nights on the Park Square Green in front on the Pavilion. This year’s weekly host will be Neal Lipktak, a well known area performer and member of the local band Esperanto. Starting on July 19, the Open Mics will be held on Wednesday evenings, with sign-ups starting at 6pm and performances beginning at 6:30 pm. Microphones, acoustic guitar plug-ins and a sound system are provided. Performances must include an instrument. Keyboards can be accommodated, but singing to a smart phone track or other electronic device is not allowed. Performers of all ages are welcome. Performers and other attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for seating. Beverages and snacks can be brought to the green, but not alcoholic beverages. MusicFest 2019 WESTFIELD - Westfield on Weekends, Inc (WOW) has announced its seventh annual series of free summer concert series, three Thursday evenings at Park Square, the city’s town green. All concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. This year’s roster includes performances by professional groups that reflect three distinctive styles of music. Operates Class A heavy equipment, performs manual labor, related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of public works infrastructure; inspects the equipment for proper operating condition; carries out preventive maintenance procedures. Work is generally performed out of doors. In winter, out of doors work is most frequently performed inside cab of a truck engaged in plowing of snow and sanding of streets, parking lots, etc. In summer less time is devoted to driving work.
