The enduring tradition of eating brunch

Eastern Sierra, CA—Sharing food, stories, travel adventures, and a sociable alternative to dinner, the Sunday Brunch is back. Usually served between 11 a. m. and 2 p.m., the meal that divides breakfast and lunch, a portmanteau (combination word) of breakfast and lunch, was originally a British thing, done before a hunt, and it included alcoholic drinks...This tradition started in the 1800s in England, but was later picked up by the Americans in the 1930s.

Brunch as a Hangover Assistance

Some people believe brunch got started by Guy Beringer, in 1895, and was created as an idea in an essay. Have a big meal at a later time, after you woke up, after a night-long adventure of heavy drinking, followed by a sweet treat of tea and pastries later in the afternoon. A Brits invention, Americans love their Sunday brunch, a more relaxed and sociable meal, with a hint of leisure thrown in for good measure.

So. What are the favorites among the brunch menu items?

First, we’ll take a list, and you can play along, and decide for yourselves what appears to be the top ten favorites. Flavors from around the world play into this decision, as many countries have their own form of brunch. Special on any occasion, a treat after you sleep in on a Sunday, a visit to your local restaurant after church, or taking someone out for a special meal, here we go. Enjoy brunchin’ it!

Here’s the list of brunch favorites, and after you’ve read the list, and decided for yourselves (feel free to circle and number your choices), you can try some of the local restaurants, and find your favorite brunch spots. For the survey and the purpose of having fun, we’ve listed the top 15 or so brunch menu items from around the world. Sources included: Yelp, Family Destinations Guide, Google Trends, and America Eats.

(A) Luxurious beyond belief, Eggs Benedict; (B) a regional favorite, chicken and waffles; (C) a Latin American favorite, the breakfast burrito; (D) the elegant, shrimp cocktail; (E) the quintessential pancakes (from the Roman Empire, and served with honey, not syrup); (F) French toast, which actually turns out to be more of an English thing; (G) big and hearty, steak and eggs (usually flank steak is involved); (H) light and flavorful omelets; (I) new to the brunch scene, the açaí bowl (seems the Brazilians like berries and this is considered a fast-food bowl); (J) an American thing, the breakfast burger; (K) a lighter thing, avocado toast; (L) a baked thing, the quiche (loved

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (FEBRUARY 21, 2023) – The temporary increase to CalFresh (federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP) benefit amounts enacted at the beginning of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic are set to expire in March 2023 per the End of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023. A final CalFresh Emergency Allotment will be issued in March 2023, and recipients will return to their original CalFresh benefit amount in April 2023.
