It’s not every day a 1965 detention slip is unearthed from the archives, but thanks to our student volunteers, this one was.
The names of the detention recipient and the Student Court Representative have been redacted to protect their identities (and possibly their dignity). But what remains is a delightful glimpse into student life at TMLA in the mid-1960s.
Judging by the infractions listed - wearing a pullover sweater & not wearing the required hat - it’s safe to say that times have changed. Today’s TMLA students are still held to high standards, but any TMLAbranded sweaters are now welcome, and hats have long since disappeared from the required dress code
As for the pizza purchase… was it an act of teenage rebellion or a lighthearted citation between friends? We’re not quite sure. But we’d love to hear from those who might remember!
Do you have any detention slips in your TMLA memorabilia? (Or, more likely, were those disposed of immediately after serving your time?)
If you have stories, scans, or memories to share, we’d love to hear from you. Please email the Alumnae Office at alumnae@tmla.org. Missedarecentnewsletter?Youcannowcatchupanytime—archivedissuesareavailableonour website. Browsepasteditions>
