Welcome to The Influencer Jupiter

Over the last couple of months while working on this inaugural issue of ‘The Insider Jupiter,’ I have had the pleasure of meeting many Jupiter locals who have expressed their enthusiasm for our new magazine.

They’ve seen firsthand how our motto, “by locals, for locals” rings true, as they are the very locals we are calling Influencers. They have contributed their time and passion to provide unique content from their perspectives as professionals and residents of the town we love.

As we move forward, we hope to recruit more Influencers to add your voices and perspectives about what makes Jupiter unique and special.

This first issue focuses on food and dining in the Jupiter area. You’ll find stories about the best local restaurants, craft breweries, family festivals, and more.

But you’ll also read about some of Jupiter’s natural hidden gems, tips from a travel advisor for vacationing with the help of a literal wingman, the hottest neighborhoods according to a local Realtor, and the value of focusing your charitable giving towards local causes.

Plus, we hope you discover a few surprises along the way as you read.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. If you would like to be a part of it, please email us at editorial@jupiterinfluencer.com.

Why The Influencer Jupiter? Why now?

While it may seem as though many people are migrating to digital channels to stay connected, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Social media has become more fragmented than ever, moving away from the original intent of keeping us all connected. Many of us locals still use print magazines to connect with the community in the offline world. In addition, many people use magazines in part to stay connected to the places, people and

events we all have come to love. As a Jupiter resident I felt the lack of a central unifying staple for our community and knew we needed to fill this void.

The reality is that the people, places and events showcased in The Influencer Jupiter allow area residents to experience these things directly in a physical and tactile way.

With a magazine that focuses on locals, written by locals for locals, we find the community is more engaging. Allowing the community to submit stories, topics and insights provides a unique perspective.

The Influencer Jupiter is distributed to hyperlocal Jupiter homeowners within a 5-mile radius of Jupiter High School and a few select communities just beyond.

We are taking on the responsibility to be an essential link where locals may learn about their community, receive information, and get updates on events. This cannot and should not be accomplished without you, the locals. As a local resident, you are able to provide insights from your part of town. Our editor is always looking for insights from various parts of our beautiful community.

We look forward to being in your homes and providing you access to local information. Take your time and linger when reading The Influencer Jupiter, enjoying the tactile experience of the magazine. Fully interact with the content, including the local Influencers contributing local content.

As you read, story ideas will come to you. These ideas need to be shared and cultivated. Send a quick note to editorial@jupiterinfluencer. com.

BOOM Real Estate

Navigating the market and finding your dream home

Jupiter’s real estate market offers something for everyone, from luxury waterfront estates to charming family neighborhoods. As the market continues to thrive, it’s crucial for buyers to stay informed, act quickly, and work with experienced professionals.

Jupiter is not just a place where pristine beaches meet azure waters; it’s a town that has become synonymous with luxury living, charming neighborhoods, and a strong sense of community. In recent years, Jupiter’s real estate market has experienced a significant boom, attracting homebuyers from across the country and beyond. Whether you’re looking for a waterfront mansion, a cozy family home, or a condo with a view, Jupiter offers a diverse range of options. This article dives deep into the dynamics of the local real estate market, highlighting hot neighborhoods, offering home-buying tips, and analyzing the latest market trends.

The Allure of Jupiter’s Real Estate Market

Jupiter’s appeal as a residential haven is undeniable. The town’s stunning natural beauty, coupled with its high standard of living and excellent amenities, has made it a magnet for both retirees seeking a serene environment and young professionals looking for a vibrant community. The growth in demand has inevitably led to a competitive real estate market, where properties are highly sought after, and prices continue to climb. Several factors contribute to Jupiter’s booming real estate market:

1. Proximity to Major Cities: Jupiter offers a more relaxed lifestyle while being conveniently close to

major urban centers like West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. This makes it an attractive option for those who work in the city but prefer living in a quieter, more picturesque setting.

2. Top-Rated Schools: Jupiter’s public and private schools are some of the best in the state, making it a popular choice for families.

3. Outdoor Lifestyle: With year-round sunshine, miles of beaches, and numerous parks and golf courses, Jupiter is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. The Loxahatchee River, one of Florida’s only designated Wild and Scenic Rivers, provides opportunities for kayaking, fishing, and boating.

4. Community Feel: Despite its growth, Jupiter has maintained a small-town feel with a strong sense of community, making it an ideal place to raise a family or retire.

Hot Neighborhoods in Jupiter

Jupiter’s real estate market is diverse, with neighborhoods that cater to various lifestyles and budgets. Here’s a closer look at some of the hottest neighborhoods in town:

1. Admirals Cove

Admirals Cove is one of Jupiter’s most prestigious communities, known for its luxury waterfront homes, private marina, and world-class amenities. It’s a haven for boating enthusiasts, with homes offering deep-water dockage and easy access to the Atlantic Ocean. Admirals Cove also boasts an

2. The Bluffs

The Bluffs is a highly desirable neighborhood for families, thanks to its proximity to excellent schools, parks, and beaches. 3. Abacoa

Abacoa is a master-planned community that offers a unique blend of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces. It’s home to the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, spring training site for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as numerous shops, restaurants, and parks. Abacoa’s neighborhoods vary from townhomes to large single-family homes, making it appealing to a wide range of buyers.

Market Insight: Abacoa is known for its strong

community vibe and walkability. Home prices range from $400,000 to over $1 million. The area’s diversity in housing options makes it attractive to both first-time homebuyers and those looking to upgrade.

4. Jupiter Farms

For those seeking a more rural lifestyle, Jupiter Farms offers large homes on expansive lots, often over an acre in size. This equestrian-friendly community provides a peaceful retreat from the busier parts of Jupiter while still being close enough to enjoy all the town’s amenities. Home-Buying Tips for Jupiter’s Market

professionals.

Given the competitive nature of Jupiter’s real estate market, prospective buyers need to be well-prepared. Here are some tips to help you navigate the process:

1. Get Pre-Approved for a Mortgage

In a hot market like Jupiter’s, properties can go under contract within days—or even hours—of being listed. Having a mortgage pre-approval not only shows sellers that you’re a serious buyer, but it also allows you to act quickly when you find the right home.

2. Work with a Local Real Estate Agent

A knowledgeable local agent is invaluable in Jupiter’s competitive market. They can provide insights into different neighborhoods, help you find properties before they hit the market, and guide you through the negotiation process. Look for an agent with deep connections in the community and a strong track record in Jupiter.

3. Be Ready to Act Fast

With demand outpacing supply, you need to be ready to make an offer quickly. If you find a home that meets your criteria, don’t hesitate—especially

in high-demand neighborhoods. Work closely with your agent to submit a strong, competitive offer.

4. Consider Your Long-Term Needs

Jupiter’s real estate market is thriving, and while it might be tempting to buy quickly, it’s important to consider your long-term needs. Think about your lifestyle, future plans, and how the property will fit into those. Whether you’re planning to start a family, work from home, or eventually sell the property, make sure the home you choose aligns with your goals.

5. Don’t Overlook Older Homes

While new construction is always appealing, Jupiter has many older homes with character and charm that are worth considering. These homes often have larger lots, mature landscaping, and unique architectural details that you won’t find in newer developments.

Regardless of which neighborhood you land on, there is a laid-back current that runs through Jupiter and buoys all residents.

A Travel with a pro on your side

s a travel advisor, I’m often asked about the value of my services. Even I had questioned the value of a travel advisor prior to becoming one; my family had previously enlisted the services of a travel agent in the past and the services offered by this particular agent did not seem to be anything beyond what we would have been able to accomplish ourselves. You can imagine my surprise when I entered the travel industry myself and learned how an advisor can elevate the travel experience without any additional cost to the client.

Any travel advisor can book you for a pre-planned tour itinerary and collect your money, I would also be hesitant to call those that do an advisor as they really aren’t providing much advice. A good travel advisor will not only find the hotel that meets your individual needs but will have the knowledge of the most minute details that you may not even think to ask about. In addition to the hotel, a travel advisor should be able to suggest or plan the activities that fit your tastes while you are on your trip. What good is being in Paris if you don’t know the best way to see the sights without being scammed and what cafes are serving fresh made local dishes instead of pre-made heat and serve food?

If you’ve traveled more than once, you may have realized that there are several things to consider when you are planning your trip. You must plan how you’re going to get from your house to the airport, then how you should get from the airport to the hotel or further how you will navigate your destination while visiting. On top of this, you may want to ensure that you are paying a fair price or maybe even the lowest price. Travel as know this and can not only plan the small details but also price shop across multiple vendors to get the best deal or

even check that the price offered is a fair price for the service. Additionally, many hotel brands prefer to have clients of travel advisors as guests stay in their hotels and offer special benefits to guests who are clients of specific travel agencies.

After troubleshooting the transportation, you want to plan what you will do while visiting your vacation destination. If you’re a family traveling with young children, you want to make sure you’re not planning an activity that’s inappropriate for the ages of your children. You don’t want to plan a hike that goes over several miles of rugged terrain when you plan to travel with your infant that will be in a stroller. Additionally, you also would want to know that your family will be safe from unforeseen dangers that can come along with participating in tours from less than reputable operators. A travel advisor will know your travel party’s current travel desires and physical ability which will guide how they curate your activities so that your trip is as stress- and injury-free as possible.

Many of us travel with a set budget or maybe just limits for what you are comfortable spending on a particular service or activity. You may even have a budget for what you wish to spend on travel for a year. By booking your yearly trips through a travel advisor,

Traveling with a travel advisor is traveling with a personal concierge at your service.

you can be assured that the money spent on your trips is well allocated and your trips are planned with careful consideration. A travel advisor knows the ideal months to visit specific places or knows what elements should be considered when traveling to different locations. You would want to know that the reason that you were able to book an overwater villa in the Maldives for a steal in September is because that is typically the rainiest month of monsoon season.

Next on the list of things to consider for a trip is what or where you’re going to eat. Are you going to be able to rely on getting any of your meals at your hotel? Is there going to be a cost to this? Do you want to dine at local restaurants that offer authentic meals from the destination, or do you want to stick

to familiar favorites? Traveling with a travel advisor is traveling with a personal concierge at your service. A travel advisor can recommend local restaurants or even arrange reservations if they are needed. While this is something that many hotels might offer, bear in mind there may be an additional fee associated or they could just be offering a generic list that they give to every guest. If you use a travel advisor, you receive personalized service with someone who ideally knows you as well as your closest friend may know you. Your travel advisor knows you and your unique dietary needs to recommend restaurants with menus that will fit your specific needs.

Even after reading through all these benefits of using a travel advisor, you may think that you still wouldn’t see a benefit in booking travel with one. Let’s consider a small but probably typical trip that someone from Jupiter may take, a few nights in Miami where you will be staying in a hotel while enjoying some of the amazing sights and restaurants that Miami has to offer. In this instance, it’s a special occasion and your family would like to splurge a bit by staying in a luxury hotel and having dinner at a Michelin rated restaurant.

You want to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami specifically. As a client of a LuxRally Travel advisor, you would be eligible for Preferred Partner benefits which include:

Dining at a Michelin star restaurant is considered a destination itself for many travelers, with some restaurants having months-long waiting lists for a reservation. Miami happens to be home to the only Michelin 2 star rated restaurant in Florida and it is the highest star rating of any restaurant in the state, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami. Located in the design district, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami offers an exquisite menu that combines the interactive dining experience

found at Japanese sushi counters and the tapas style from Spain with modern French cuisine. Guests can choose from a 3 or 4 course seasonal menu, a la carte menu, a degustation menu, and as of May of 2024 a seasonal lunch menu. A meal at L’Atelier is sure to delight your taste buds no matter how you choose to experience it.

As a client who is traveling with a LuxRally Travel advisor like myself, our in-house concierge and I work together to leverage our relationships with hotel managers and restaurant hosts to have our clients accommodated for an evening at these coveted establishments. This is done at no additional cost to the clients. For many locals who visit Miami, a weekend trip may be planned at the last minute which may mean that popular restaurants may not have seating available while you are visiting. Booking even this short trip with a travel advisor would ensure that your weekend trip fulfills your every desire.

Jupiter’s evolving dining scene

The evolution of Jupiter from a laid-back fishing village to a vibrant landscape of communities and businesses has attracted a diverse field of restaurants.

While seafood remains king of cuisine around town, diners can mix it up with plates from the Mediterranean, Mexican street food, and flavors from India.

Small owners have opened shops selling artisan breads, cakes and donuts, acai bowls and tacos, juices and coffees.

Locals know, though, and between new and old restaurants, frequent certain spots, and return with their out-of-town guests.

Here are some recommended by long-timers.

Guanabanas

Here’s the ultimate waterside tropical restaurant, with a lush tropical setting. But it’s not just a pretty face: The food and drinks back it up.

Set on the Jupiter Oxbow, a mangrove-lined bend in the waterway leading to the Intracoastal, this 16-year-old restaurant on S.R. A1A draws crowds of all ages.

The savvy owners capitalized on the landscaping already on the lot, and built the open-air space around huge palms and banyans, using the canopies as natural shade.

A few canvas tarps suspended above tables tucked on small patio areas, and a couple of thatched tiki-style roofs provide covered spaces for the bar, large crowds or events, or just rainy days.

Stone steps lead down to the docks, where boaters can tie up to one of the 13 slips for a dock-anddine experience.

The menu is swimming with seafood prepared myriad ways, always to order.

“Fresh fish is our pride and joy. We go through at least 4,000 pounds of whole fish a week in season.

You should see it come in,” co-owner Jon Sullivan said. “We have a team of fish cutters right here.”

The fish is sourced from all around Florida, including the Panhandle’s Gulf offerings, Key West for crab and snapper, and Cape Canaveral for its famous shrimp.

They go into preparations suggested by dishes from around the Caribbean. “It’s probably best described as Floribbean — it’s an outdated term, but island- and Central American-inspired dishes,” Sullivan said.

A colorful sign greets visitors as they arrive at Guanabanas. The lush landscaping throughout provides natural shade.

Those include a playa rice bowl, made with wild caught Atlantic shrimp cooked with Lizano, a Costa Rican sauce, rice and mixed vegetables, and a mango-pineapple salsa.

The fresh catch can be prepared a number of ways, but a favorite is macadamia- and coconut-crusted.

But meat eaters aren’t left out. “Oddly enough, we have a meatloaf on the menu that does very well. Everybody likes it,” Sullivan said.

Caribbean cocktails star at the bar. “We have, I believe, the largest rum selection in the county,” he said.

Frank Mendola, bartender, listed some exotics from around the islands and South America.

“Our house rum is Flor de Caña, a Nicaragua 4-year-old. We also stock their 25-year-old single-estate. Aviation from Brazil is traditional in Caphirinas. Zacapa, from Guatemala is smooth. It’s a sipping rum. Another one for sipping is Blackwell Reserve, from Jamaica. Ron Santa Teresa from Venezuela is a top rum. A guest from Venezuela was so excited to see it here.”

A margarita bar and small batch spirits are also part of the beverage program. Beers and wines are available.

The restaurant, with entree prices between $32 and $45, is open seven days for lunch and dinner and an all-you-can-eat buffet brunch on Sunday. It’s walk-in only — no reservations except for parties over 18 or special events. Live music is featured Friday and Saturday nights.

Blackbird Modern Asian

A bold, modern and big-city design captures diners from the moment they enter Blackbird, the Asian-fusion restaurant that once housed the Jupiter Crab and Shipwreck.

The vision of modern Asian is painted by Kat Solomon of Kat Solomon Designs in West Palm Beach.

A golden bronze 12-foot tall Buddha overlooks the coppery vermillion dining room where a faux cherry tree’s blossoms change colors throughout the night.

The restaurant is one of a number of new upscale international offerings in the area. Opened by the Three Amigos Hospitality Group, it draws from the extensive experience of the partners: Scott Frielich, Angelo Abbenante and Cleve Mash.

All are owners or co-owners in other successful restaurants around the county including Lynora’s, Kapow Noodle Bar, Clematis Social and many others. Together, they opened another locals’ favorite, Papichulo Tacos nearby.

In 2022, they chose Jupiter for this foray into upscale Asian to “bring something fresh to the local dining scene,” Frielich said. “Jupiter wasn’t widely known for ethnic restaurants then, which worked

in our favor, allowing us to introduce something unique.”

It was a chance, he said, to introduce an Asian concept into the evolving food culture of the town. The marriage of traditional techniques and modern ingredients and a blending of flavors has proven a success.

“We are thrilled with how the Jupiter community has embraced Blackbird Modern Asian,” Frielich said. “Our Jupiter location has a unique charm and energy that’s been incredibly welcoming.”

Chef Tim Nickey has created an innovative menu that draws from several Asian countries and regions. Diners will recognize twists on favorites from Japan, Thailand, China, Korea and Vietnam.

A favorite is the Blackbird spin on General Tso’s Chicken. A subtle infusion of tikka masala, an Indian spice, gives it a fresh remake.

Chinese BBQ Beef Shortribs sell out early in the evening. Guests have raved over the tender, grilled ribs marinated in spices then glazed with a savory sauce.

The presentation of the Peking duck, a three-day production that feeds three easily, almost outshines the meal.

Twisting the traditional foods, Nickey reimagines

dishes, coming up with a burntends fried rice, and bone marrow dumplings.

Frielich admits not every dish is a winner. Guests didn’t understand that the classic Shrimp with Lobster Sauce contains no lobster. Other foods, such as sushi, are requested, but at the moment not on the menu.

“We’re always open to considering new ideas based on consumer feedback,” he said.

Twice a year, the menu is refreshed. The owners and staff try about 25 dishes, with only a few deemed good enough for the menu.

In November, guests can expect to see Bangkok street noodles, tuna tartare wonton cones, and hamachi jalapeño,

With mood lighting, dark woods and a high ceilings, the ground-level dining room is encased with a wall of windows.

Observant guests notice the elevator behind the desk. It leads to the true club above, where membership is by invitation only and limited in number.

But the restaurant and Terrace on the first level are open to the public by reservation most nights.

Created by a group that includes sports greats Michael Jordan, Ernie Els and Wine Spectator Magazine owner Marvin Shanken, the club and restaurant opened in 2017. It was billed as a steakhouse, with a menu influenced in part by Michael Jordan’s Chicago and New York restaurants that bear his name.

New cocktails are coming to the drink menu as well.

Blackbird is open daily for dinner only. Happy Hour is from 4-5 daily; the outdoor upper deck bar is open at that time. Entree prices range between $19 and $45, with shareable entrees such as duck or 32-ounce wagyu tomahawk from $95 to $185. Reservations are accepted only for parties of eight or more.

larger role. Dishes are still complex in flavor and texture with touches of innovation, but most no longer require a server’s lengthy explanation of components.

Steaks are still the focus of the menu, with many of the appetizers and sides expected, such as shrimp cocktail, a wedge salad, and beef tartare — in this case, wagyu with caviar.

Diners can choose from other offerings such as the ceviche-like Peruvian hamachi tiradito, or a signature Charleston she-crab soup, or Spanish octopus poached in a court bouillon.

Seafoods include halibut en papillote, and crab spaghetti alla chitarra, with roasted tomato, leek,

and uni butter.

From an 8-ounce filet mignon ($58) to the wagyu filet, also 8 ounces ($110), prices reflect the prime meats — and location.

If it’s a bit special-occasion, try dining on The Terrace, where a “Social Hour” menu, served from 5-7 p.m. features tasty cocktails and small plates such as the 1000 North prime cheeseburger,

Sim’s House Restaurant

The Sims House may be Jupiter’s best-kept secret among diners who’ve stumbled on it.

There’s no sign on the tiny corner house on Center Street that houses the restaurant. That’s fine with the owner, who manages the reservations carefully, seating only 30 or so people at a time in a dining room that holds 69.

Ernie Fidanza rescued the property in 2016, saving it from the wrecking ball to share its 100-year-old history with the public, and he wants them to appreciate it as he does.

“I wanted to preserve the history of the property,” he said. “Too much of Jupiter has been demolished. Only a few original houses

Buffalo cauliflower and spicy tuna bites worthy of sharing at reduced prices.

Open for dinner daily at 5 p.m., lunch on Saturday, 11 a.m., and Sunday brunch, 11 a.m. Dinner is by reservation. Walk-ins can dine at The Terrace for Social Hour.

from the town remain.”

His pursuit of the preservation of the town’s buildings led him to form the Jupiter Historical Society in 2016, which he leads today.

In 2021, he completed the Sims House renovation to make it a public restaurant. He shares its story with everyone who dines.

The original owners were Eli and Essie Sims. Essie was the daughter of the town’s first postmistress, Ethel Sims, and Charlie Pierce, a South Florida pioneer.

Stories surrounding the house include prominent society tales of the day, including some of the Barefoot Mailman.

There are “spirits” mentioned, too, who

haunted the previous owners, so Fidanza had the house “cleansed” before renovating it. The spirits are said to still be active in the dining room at times, though not in a disturbing capacity, he said. “I feel perfectly safe here.”

Because of Fidanza’s preservation work, the house has an historic landmark designation.

He has bought other properties around the little house, with aim to have an event space to accommodate groups. Currently, a large outdoor patio is used for parties and overflow events.

An American menu that changes daily is served, with ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. “We get all our produce from Hibiscus Food Market, Fidanza said. Seafood providers also are from the area.

The chef is Francisco Lantin, the longtime chef of the former Jupiter favorite, Tabica Grill.

Along with dishes such as churrasco steak, and local fresh fish, he’ll occasionally pull out a Tabica recipe, Fidanza said.

There’s entertainment a few times a month, with a comedy night on the last Friday of the month, followed Saturday night by a supper club.

Mixing Materials: A Trend’s Time Has Come

A trend-within-a-trend across the Jupiter area is mixing and contrasting kitchen cabinet materials. Options abound here, as well, stretching the gamut from darkened oak wood to Fenix laminates to white and neutral glass finishes. Blending glass or mesh inserts with natural or metal accents are alluring and creative, going beyond standard solid color choices.

Sustainability is an enormous trend across all consumer goods, and kitchen cabinets are no exception. Reclaimed woods, recycled materials, and low volatile organic compounds are enticing options for eco-friendly cabinet finishes that reduce environmental harm while creating a fresh outdoor experience within the convenience and comfort of your own dream kitchen.

Cabinetry hardware and other metals throughout the kitchen are no exception when it comes to mixing

materials. Partnering with an experienced designer helps you coordinate cabinet style, color, and texture for an amazing kitchen remodel.

Jupiter’s Natural Hidden Gems: A Gu

BY HEATHER TOWE

Jupiter is often celebrated for its pristine beaches, historic lighthouse, and stunning waterfront homes. While these attractions draw plenty of visitors, the real charm of Jupiter lies in its lesser-known natural wonders. For those who seek to explore beyond the usual tourist spots, Jupiter offers a treasure trove of hidden gems that showcase the area’s unique beauty and serenity. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor eager to discover Jupiter’s more tranquil side, this guide will lead you to some of the most enchanting and underappreciated natural spots in the area.

1. Dubois Park: Discovering Its Secluded Corners

Dubois Park (pictured above) is a favorite among families for its calm lagoon and well-maintained picnic areas, but there’s more to this park than meets the eye. While most visitors congregate around the main beach area, those in the know venture into the park’s quieter sections. Tucked away from the bustle, you’ll find winding trails through dense mangrove forests, offering a peaceful retreat into nature. These shaded paths are perfect for a leisurely walk or a moment of reflection by the water.

Pro Tip: Bring along a kayak and paddle through the shallow waters near the inlet. Here, you can experience the park from a different perspective.

2. Sawfish Bay Park: A Hidden Waterfront Sanctuary

Nestled just north of the Jupiter Inlet, Sawfish Bay Park is a hidden sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Intracoastal Waterway. This small park is often overlooked by tourists, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful escape. The park’s scenic shoreline is perfect for a quiet afternoon picnic, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a manatee.

Local Insight: Visit during sunset for a breathtaking view as the sun dips below the horizon. The park also features a small boat launch, making it a great starting point for kayakers looking to explore the surrounding waterways.

3. Coral Cove Park: Jupiter’s Secluded Coastal Paradise

While most beachgoers flock to the popular stretches near Juno Beach Pier, Coral Cove Park offers a more secluded alternative. Located slightly north of Jupiter, this park is home to unique rock formations that create natural tidal pools at low tide. These tidal pools are perfect for snorkeling and exploring marine life in a quiet setting, away from the typical beach crowds. What to Bring: Snorkeling gear is a must. The clear waters around the rocks provide some of the best underwater views in the area, with colorful fish and coral formations waiting to be discovered.

4. The Secret Trails of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse ONA

The iconic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is a must-visit, but the surrounding trails are often overlooked by visitors. The Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) offers several walking trails that wind through native scrub and mangrove habitats. These trails are perfect for nature lovers seeking a quiet retreat with stunning views of the lighthouse and surrounding waters, especially during sunrise or sunset.

Insider Tip: The trails are teeming with wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled for ospreys, gopher tortoises, and even the occasional bobcat. For the best experience, bring binoculars and a camera to capture the natural beauty and diverse wildlife.

5. Blowing Rocks Preserve: A Natural Spectacle

Blowing Rocks Preserve on Jupiter Island is one of the area’s most extraordinary natural features, yet it remains a well-kept secret. Managed by The Nature Conservancy, this preserve is home to the largest Anastasia limestone outcropping on the east coast of the United States. During high tide,

waves crash against these rocks, sending plumes of water up to 50 feet in the air—a breathtaking natural display that’s not to be missed.

Explore Further: The preserve also features nature trails that lead through coastal hammocks, offering a chance to enjoy the lush, native vegetation away from the shore. Visit the interpretive center to learn more about the unique geology and ecosystem of the area.

The Value of Donating Local

Most are familiar with national organizations such as the United Way, American Red Cross, and St. Jude, who all make a positive difference due in part to sheer economies of scale. However, have you considered the benefits of selecting a community charity, one where you will see first hand just how your donation is making a difference?

Jupiter based nonprofit Chasin A Dream Foundation built their organization on the tenet of “locals helping locals” with the belief that if donors could meet the children battling life threatening illnesses and disabilities in the community, and follow their journey, they would be more apt to not only donate once but to invest in their community of children.

Local charities address a specific need in the community whether it be for children, animals, hunger, homelessness or a multitude of other issues. Donating locally ensures your donations are directed toward relevant issues in your back yard.

Local donations strengthen community ties and encourage community engagement by fostering a sense of connection and responsibility. And, if your charity of choice purchases goods or services with your donation, you are helping to sustain local businesses and create local jobs.

By donating locally you witness the direct impact of your contribution, strengthening your connection to the community and supporting organizations that are closely aligned with local needs.

As with any charity it is advis-

able to do your research and ask the tough questions: What percentage of your donation goes directly to programs vs. administrative costs? Typically you want an organization that uses over 80% of every dollar donated to go directly to their program and have low administrative costs. Who specifically will benefit from your donation and what measurable outcomes have they achieved?

When selecting a charity, understand their mission and ensure it aligns with your philanthropic values; look for transparency; research their track record; review their financial health; and assess how well the organization is integrated into and supported by the local community.

Lori Griffith is the Founder and Executive Director of Chasin A Dream Foundation, a Jupiter-based nonprofit serving families in Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie counties. Halloween Safety Tips for Dogs

Halloween can be a fun holiday for the family, but it can also pose numerous risks to your dog.

Here are some essential safety tips to keep your dog safe during Halloween. Many dogs end up in veterinary emergency hospitals during this holiday!

1. Keep Candy Out of Reach

Halloween treats, especially chocolate and candy containing xylitol, are highly toxic to dogs. Small amounts can cause severe reactions, such as vomiting, seizures, or even death.

Make sure to store all candy securely in a place where your dog cannot access it. Educate children about the dangers of feeding candy to pets and have your veterinarian’s contact information readily available in case of an emergency.

2. Create a Calm Environment

With the constant doorbell ringing, loud noises, and costumed strangers, Halloween can be overwhelming for dogs. To reduce anxiety, you can either create a quiet, secure space or crate your dog - in a separate room. Consider playing soothing music or using a white noise machine to mask the noise

Keeping your dog indoors during peak trickor-treating hours can also prevent them from

bolting or getting away. Please tighten and secure your dog’s collar before taking them out on Halloween. Make sure their collar cannot slip off of their ears.

3. Ensure Proper Identification

With doors frequently opening, there is an increased risk of your dog escaping. Make sure they have a collar with up-to-date identification tags and microchipping. By following these simple tips, you can help ensure that Halloween is a safe and enjoyable day for everyone.
