For Queen Ziara, working overseas is more than a financial decision.

“It’s not just about the financial growth but also for my spiritual growth. Being alone will really challenge your faith in God,” she reflects.

Reflecting on her journey, Queen Ziara shares with The Global Filipino Magazine, “I’m a young woman who has a strong faith in God while working hard to get what I am dreaming of.”

And despite the struggles, she appreciates the personal evolution her journey has necessitated.

Her narrative is a tapestry of bold decisions, anchored in her mantra, “Work hard, pray harder. Faith it until you make it.”

“In working here in UAE for 5 years, I can say that I became stronger, bolder, smarter, and wiser.”

Looking ahead, Queen Ziara’s aspirations are a blend of entrepreneurial ambition and social advocacy. She dreams of opening a ‘Home for the Aged’ in Baguio City, Philippines, a plan inspired by her profound love for her grandparents and empathy for the elderly.

After completing her Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Queen Ziara quickly realized that her aspirations surpassed the opportunities available in the Philippines.

“Although I was happy that I started working in a beauty clinic, I didn’t want to waste my time in the Philippines having a low salary compared to working abroad,” she recalls.

Navigating through initial setbacks due to her non-internationally accredited aesthetic documents, she persevered, eventually diversifying her skills.

This stark realization propelled her move to the UAE, marking the onset of her international journey.

To those grappling with challenges abroad, Queen Ziara offers heartfelt advice: uphold strong faith, prioritize health, nurture genuine relationships, practice financial wisdom, and above all, cultivate self-love.

Her narrative underscores the importance of inner resilience, a message she hopes to imprint on the hearts of many: “No matter what is happening in our lives, always know that there is God who’s watching over us. We are always blessed by our Almighty God!”

“Strong faith in God is all I have in me that kept me being positive-minded every day,” she confides, acknowledging the role of her supportive family and true friends.

But every success story is fraught with challenges. Queen Ziara’s experience abroad was no exception. From enduring betrayals and bullying to confronting professional hurdles, her journey was anything but smooth. Yet, her strategy for such adversities was rooted in her faith.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Gilbert shares with The Global Filipino Magazine, “I started as a telephone service agent for a prestigious 5-star brand. Over time, I explored different roles, each providing me with a broader perspective and deeper expertise.”

His foray into group and events sales sparked a passion that transformed his career trajectory.

“Engaging with new individuals and cultivating my segment became not just a job, but a source of profound satisfaction,” he explains.

This satisfaction didn’t come without its share of challenges. Gilbert recounts the struggles he faced, including job losses that could have derailed his career.

“Life is a series of peaks and valleys. I’ve faced job loss three times, but each time, I found new opportunities by aligning myself with different brands.”

Through these setbacks, the unwavering support of his wife and the inspiration drawn from mentors and industry leaders

“Their resilience fuels my determination to advance, regardless of the circumstances,” he adds.

Gilbert’s life in Dubai extends beyond his professional commitments. Together with his wife, he immerses himself in the local hobby community, connecting with likeminded individuals, and even organizing gatherings and contests.

“These hobbies are not just pastimes; they’re about building a community and promoting shared interests,” Gilbert notes.

His decision to work abroad was initially driven by a desire to follow in his mother’s footsteps and the broader trend among Filipinos to seek opportunities overseas.

However, what was meant to be a five-year stint evolved into a long-term commitment.

“I got married and started a family here.

Our lives became intertwined with this place, and it shaped our journey in ways we didn’t anticipate,” he shares.

Despite the success and satisfaction derived from his career, Gilbert is already envisioning a future back in his homeland.

“After retirement, we plan to settle in the countryside, enjoy a simpler life, and savor the small joys,” he muses.

But even in this idyllic setting, he intends to stay connected and contribute to community development.

“I look forward to organizing initiatives that assist the less privileged. It’s about making a meaningful impact, in line with my mantra that the purpose of life is a life with a purpose.”

To Filipinos facing struggles abroad, Gilbert offers sage advice: “Cultivate determination and willpower. Life is full of highs and lows, but it’s the resilience to rebound from setbacks that truly defines us. Whether it’s about family, finances, employment, or finding trustworthy people, living purposefully is the key.”

“From being a cashier, ticketing attendant, call center, and handling guest relations inquiries — these were all my first time, and this became my everyday workloads,” Ayrton shares with The Global Filipino Magazine.

For those struggling abroad, particularly his fellow Filipinos, Ayrton offers thoughtful advice, “The world is not flat, it’s round. So, whenever I face problems or I have a happy moment, I know for sure that the wheel will turn around.”

Ayrton’s story is not just about the bricks and mortar of architecture. It’s about constructing a life with resilience, adaptability, and the perpetual courage to keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles.

It was a far cry from his experiences in the Philippines, where he had worked in fashion construction and hotel construction, roles more aligned with his architectural aspirations. Yet, Ayrton embraced this unexpected turn, understanding that every step was a building block towards his dreams.

“I swallow my pride of being an architect someday, but today, as I see my hardships and struggles, I finally can say that I have reached the dreams I aspire to be.”

“Things happen for a reason,” Ayrton says with the wisdom of someone who’s been through life’s unpredictable roller-coaster.

He plans to explore opportunities in other countries, seeking to “unlock more of my potential and wants in life.”

“Finding a job while the pandemic hit us hard was harder than I thought,” he admits.

But he chose to keep moving, embodying his mantra in life: Keep moving forward.

What lay ahead was unforeseen, the path riddled with uncertainty. Three exhausting job-seeking exits later, he found himself accepting a role that many, including himself, might have seen as a deviation from his architectural dreams: a guest relation attendant in an indoor theme park in Dubai.

This obstacle saw him returning home, resigning, and embarking on a grueling year of part-time jobs, from waiter to mascot.

Recounting the challenges, including a heart-wrenching incident where a sudden visa cancellation led to a hefty fine and a missed flight, Ayrton reflects, “I was at the peak of my moment, but in one blink? It’s all gone.”

But in every story, there’s a lesson, a silent battle, a dream constructed one day at a time.

For Ayrton and many others, the building never stops, and the dreams only get bigger.

As the eldest in a family of four professionals, she set the bar high from the start. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language under her belt, Isabel’s thirst for knowledge led her to pursue Law Studies at the esteemed Far Eastern University and University of the East in Manila.

Committed to excellence, Isabel further honed her expertise through studies in Shipping Business and Management, Shipping Logistics, and Maritime Law.

“She lives. She dreams. She dares. She survives,” Isabel fondly recalls of her younger years.

Her journey into the shipping industry

“At an early age, I braved the world of challenges in the corporate sector,” she tells The Global Filipino Magazine.

Now, as the Operations Manager and head of the Legal Department of Kassab Inter-Shipping LLC, Isabel’s role is pivotal. The family-owned enterprise, with its impressive fleet of cargo vessels, motor tankers, and towage vessels, trades worldwide, testament to Isabel’s leadership and the team’s commitment to excellence.

Behind the impressive titles and accolades lies a woman of deep substance. Isabel’s life is a tapestry of roles — a dedicated wife to Capt. Abed Kassab, a Swedish-Lebanese businessman; a loving mother to their two children, Karim and Joud; and an ardent supporter of women’s rights and achievements.

However, life hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Isabel.

“I bravely fought the BIG-C in 2021,” she reveals.

Through sheer determination, the unwavering support of her family, and a steadfast faith, Isabel emerged victorious and is now cancer-free.

“Indeed, God is good, and prayers truly work,” she affirms.

But it was her determination and skill as an IT Analyst at ARENCO Enterprises that highlighted her first few years abroad.

“My work required me to analyze systems, identify areas for improvement, and propose solutions to enhance productivity,” Katrina explains with The Global Filipino Magazine, reflecting on her 8-year tenure with the company before she lost her job during the pandemic.

However, it wasn’t just her acumen in IT that defined Katrina’s time in Dubai.

“When I was young, my real ambition was to be a model,” she confides.

Despite the setbacks she faced in the Philippines due to conventional beauty standards, Katrina’s dream found wings in Dubai.

Merging passion and profession Currently, as a Freelance Creative Head and Stage Director for fashion shows and pageants, Katrina is a force to be reckoned with in the events industry.

“From a young age, I have always been captivated by the creativity, glamour, and excitement that these events encompass,” she shares passionately.

The transition from IT to the creative realm might seem drastic, but for Katrina, it was a natural progression.

“I find great joy in the meticulous planning, the ability to create unforgettable moments, and seeing how these industries can empower individuals and celebrate diversity,” she elaborates.

Her role now involves everything from planning auditions to supervising entire creative plans for shows, a responsibility she finds deeply satisfying.

The decision to work abroad was fueled by a desire for personal growth and better opportunities, a common thread among many overseas Filipino workers.

“In 2015, a director placed their trust in me to serve as a Casting Coordinator for their film, an official entry to the Cinemalaya festival,” he reminisced, marking a pivotal moment in his career.

“She began as a dancer and unexpectedly found her knack for acting, which then led her to teach young aspiring actors,” said Daddy Jheff, revealing that it was in 2009 when Mama Beth also ventured into talent management.

“We have experienced highs and lows, with some doubting our capabilities,” he said.

“Prayer is our strongest weapon. Never lose faith, and hold onto your passion and dreams. Surround yourself with people who share your vision.”

In a world that’s often rushing, Daddy Jheff’s mantra, “Slow down but don’t stop,” and Mama Beth’s belief that “Good things come to those who wait,” offer a poignant reminder of the value of patience, persistence, and unwavering passion.

Yet, like many ambitious Filipinos, Clarisse longed for international opportunities.

When one finally came knocking, it put her in a dilemma.

“I was already working for a few months in one of my dream companies, with a good position. It was harder for me to decide – should I pursue or just stay?”

Choosing to embrace her inherent risktaking nature, she explains, “I have bigger dreams and goals which I want to fulfill,” and so she embarked on her overseas journey with Emirates Flight Catering.

But challenges were imminent. The onset of COVID-19 brought unexpected turbulence in her career. She tells The Global Filipino Magazine, “Days and nights got worse not only because of the lockdowns but also because of the worry I have for my family.”
