December 2021 - The Epidemiology Monitor

The Year In Epidemiology - 2022 The new year 2022 begins with the world still combating SARS-CoV-2 and its latest Omicron variant. Uncertainty remains about which events will be held in 2022 and, if so, in what format. Most events have been scheduled for in-person attendance, however, approximately one-fifth of events are to be held virtually or as hybrids with some combination of formats. Readers are advised to check the website links for each event to obtain the latest information provided by meeting or event organizers. The Epidemiology Monitor 2022 calendar lists 103 events with definite dates and 21 traditionally held events for which updated information is still unavailable. Given that only limited information is currently available for a large percentage of events, readers with more updated information about any of the events listed here are encouraged to contact The Epidemiology Monitor. We will update our calendar each month so please check each issue or visit our website regularly for any event updates as they get posted. Among the events to look forward to in 2022 are two population research meetings, a wastewater surveillance summit meeting, at least ten summer programs in the northern hemisphere between May and August, and the annual meetings of the ten major epidemiology and public health associations listed below.
