Peebles starts the week with a win

Glenda Peebles had a win in last Wednesday’s Ladies’ Golf Par game finishing the day on -2.

Barb Barklimore was the runner-up following a countback from Julie Livingston after both ladies scored -3.

Nearest to the flag on the 15th hole were Livingston, Barklimore and Ann Dunn.

The scores were close in Saturday’s Stableford round with Barb Barklimore coming out on top following another countback with Julie Livingston when each posted 33 points.

Karen Manns was third with 32 points while Tena Blignaut placed 4th with 30.

Unfortunately the only A Grader in the field could not stay on the fairway to be in the running for the Nearest the Pin prize on the 8th hole.

However the other grades managed to with

Brenda Fugar the B Grade winner and Ann Dunn picked up the prize for C Grade.

Sunday’s postponed April Trophy Day could only muster five players.

Ann Dunn finished as the winner of the Stroke game after coming in with a net score of 73. Geraldine Francisco was runner net.

The best with the short stick were Barb Barklimore in B Grade (29 putts) and Glenda Peebles for C Grade with 32 putts.

The weather will play a big part in any games going ahead this week with rain predicted from today onwards to the weekend.

If the rain holds off, a Stroke round will be played today, the annual Polyfab sponsored three lady Ambrose will take place on Saturday and the Marie McManus Memorial Stableford is to be played on Sunday. T'd

Divas and JKM finish as winners

Divas and JKM Dynamic Fitness finished as Round 8 winners in the Senior Netball competition on Sunday.

Divas took the lead in their match on Sunday up against Nymagee Magpies and, despite a quiet third quarter (in which Magpies outshot them 10-8), the Divas eventually finished as 50-38 winners.

The game’s Best & Fairest points were awarded to Brianna Watson (Nymagee Magpies), Ethan McLeod (Divas) and Taylah Good (Nymagee Magpies).

JKM and Pink Galahs started off their match on an even footing with JKM having just a two goal advantage at the first break.

The JKM shooters then got into a good shooting rhythm, scoring 14, 14 and 16 goals respectively in the remaining three quarters to close out the match with an 18 point win, 46-28.

The game’s Best & Fairest points went to Ashley Place (Pink Galahs), Rori Urquhart (JKM) and Riki Schaumkell (Pink Galahs).

In the other scheduled Round 8 game, Tooth Fairies were short players for their match with Pumpettes and had to forfeit.

However, some of the Pumpettes acted as floaters and joined the Tooth Fairies side for a muck around game.

Cobar Roosters Under 18’s Tadgh McMullen was named in Cobar’s First Grade run-on side on Saturday up against Binnaway for their Christie & Hood Castlereagh Rugby League Round 7 game at Tom Knight Memorial Oval. McMullen proved to very handy on the wing where he scored a try to help Cobar to their 42-18 win.
