Biz Association is making plans
from TCW 280623
Additional entertainment for this year’s Christmas Street Parade, cocktail networking events, business breakfasts and bringing back the business awards were among the many items discussed at the Cobar Business Association’s AGM last week.
Held at the Services Club on Thursday, the meeting was well attended with a number of new faces joining the committee, including Miranda Fry, who was elected as the group’s new vice president.
The remainder of the executive committee remains unchanged with Sharon Harland returned as president and Demi Smith and Briana Coffey were uncontested for the secretary’s and treasurer’s positions respectively.
The other eight attendees at the meeting joined the general committee.
Mrs Harland welcomed the new committee and said she was excited for the year ahead.
“It was great to see a number of new faces at the meeting, people from different business sectors who are keen to be involved and who have brought some interesting new ideas to the table,” she said.
“We also looked at what other business chambers like Wagga Wagga and Dubbo are doing and the group is keen to run some similar events.”
Mrs Harland said planning has begun for the group’s biggest event of the year, the annual Christmas Street Parade.

“We’ve got an exciting idea we’re already working on for some new entertainment this year, but I can’t say anymore than that,” she said.
Cobar’s Secret Potters Society came to light on Friday night with the group’s first exhibition being hosted by the Cobar Arts Council at the railway station. Accredited local ceramics teacher, Sue Singleton, has been holding pottery classes for three different groups (totaling about 20 students) at Cobar High School’s art room over the past few months which culminated in their first exhibition last week. Pictured are some of the students with their work, Tracey Kings, Meike Griffiths and Suzanne Prince. Another local artist, Anita Neate, also had her acrylic landscape paintings on display as part of the exhibition.
