This favorite American spirit boasts a history as complex as its flavor profile. Born in the heart of Kentucky, bourbon has become as American as apple pie and is now cherished as a well-crafted sophisticated spirit worldwide.

While various folklore surrounds the origin of the term "bourbon," the most widely accepted tale leads to Bourbon County, Kentucky. Established in 1785, this region became known for quality whiskey production. The combination of limestone-filtered water, the region's exceptional climate, and the abundance of excess corn contributed to the birth of a spirit that would soon capture the hearts and tantalize the taste buds of enthusiasts worldwide.

Evan Williams, a Welsh immigrant, is often credited as one of the pioneers of bourbon production. In the late 18th century, he set up one of the first commercial distilleries in Kentucky. His venture marked the beginning of a flourishing industry that would define the state and the spirit itself. However the late 18th century wasn't without its challenges for American whiskey producers. The Whiskey Rebellion of 1791, a response to a federal tax on distilled spirits, tested the resilience of the nascent industry. However, bourbon emerged from this period stronger than ever, finding favor among those who sought an authentic American spirit.
