RECOGNIZING JIM AND MARIE DAWSON, DISTINGUISHED LEADERS AT THE CABOT
Even with a dynamic career as an accomplished banking executive and small business owner, Jim Dawson always has time to make a difference in his beloved hometown of Beverly. A lifelong resident, Jim was an early patron of The Cabot, attending matinees in his pre-teen years and later, on dates with his high school sweetheart, Marie Gilligan Dawson.

At the beginning of The Cabot’s transformation, when it had newly become a non-profit theater dedicated to saving this historic gem, Jim was approached by Henry Bertolon, one of the original 5 founders of The Cabot’s new story. He and Marie quickly became major supporters and the next day agreed to fund the new marquee to keep The Cabot magic alive.
After a stint on The Cabot’s Development Committee, Jim joined the Board of Directors, eventually becoming Chairman, and stewarded The Cabot through an exciting period of growth and evolution. Jim’s tenure as Board Chair oversaw the replacement of the nearly 100-year-old balcony seating, the installation of state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, and the development of the Cabot Club, our premier membership program.
Not only a tremendous financial supporter, Jim and Marie are big fans of The Cabot, attending many shows throughout the year from Kashmir (Jim’s a lifelong Led Zeppelin fan!) to Darlene Love (Marie’s favorite) and everything in between. You can always spot Jim on Cabot Street, proudly wearing his Cabot hat. He is tireless in recruiting an impressive group of community visionaries, like himself, to join the Board or the Ambassador Committee. The Cabot is proud to recognize our friends and colleagues, Jim and Marie Dawson, and their unwavering efforts to help The Cabot become one of the preeminent arts and cultural institutions on the North Shore.

THE CABOT’S BIG
APRIL 28 FRIDAY | 7:30 PM
WITH RAY LAMONTAGNE

AND VERY SPECIAL GUEST
LUCINDA WILLIAMS

The Boston Herald
raved, “LaMontagne’s voice remains a marvel, quiet and reflective one minute and forceful and impassioned the next. It really is an amazing instrument.”
Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne has released 8 studio albums, 5 of which have reached Top 10 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart and Billboard’s Digital Albums chart. Additionally, Ray’s 2010 album God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise won the Grammy for Best Folk Album and was nominated in the coveted Song of The Year category for “Beg Steal or Borrow.” Ray’s most recent release MONOVISION includes breakout songs such as “I Was Born To Love You” and #1 AAA single “Strong Enough”.
Each release from his catalog carries its own character and feel. American Songwriter says of MONOVISION, “Both LaMontagne’s craftsmanship in the composition of these songs and his easygoing, unaccompanied playing will come as comfort food to established followers who should welcome this most organic return to his roots.”
Critics across the US have also raved about his live performance. Consequence of Sound said, “Hearing Ray LaMontagne perform live is a poignant and magical experience”.
