The Cabot’s Big Night is an evening of music and celebration to support The Cabot’s capital improvement plans as we complete the transformation of our beautiful theater.

OUR MUSICAL GUESTS

Mavis Staples is a rhythm and blues and gospel singer, actress, and civil rights activist. She is a once-in-a-generation artist whose impact on music and culture would be hard to overstate. Both a Blues and a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, a Grammy award-winner; a National Arts Awards Lifetime Achievement recipient, and a Kennedy Center honoree, Ms. Staples has marched with Dr. Martin Lurther King, Jr., performed at John F. Kennedy’s inauguration, and sang in Barack Obama’s White House. She has collaborated with everyone from Prince and Bob Dylan to Arcade Fire and Hozier.

The Grammy-winning Tedeschi Trucks Band has toured with the likes of Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and Santana.

Tedeschi Trucks Fireside Live is a modified version of this modern powerhouse.

With 5 to 8 band members, Fireside Live brings to the stage a rare intimate window into the band’s creative chemistry while still offering dynamic world-class musicianship.

Over a decade ago, married couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks decided to merge their shared passion for the blues, jazz, and gospel musical traditions, and start their own band. Tedeschi Trucks Band consistently sells out venues nationwide and astounds audiences with their world-class musicianship.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE CABOT? In Focus is a new youth filmmaking program at The Cabot developed to educate and inspire students, ages 11-13, to step behind-the-lens and create their own films!

The goal of the program is to introduce and develop the skills students need to capture their emotions through storytelling. We focus on teaching the fundamentals of film, hands-on activities, and self-expression. The program provides equal access to media and movie creation for students on the North Shore who may not have the means to explore this medium.

Similar to most other movie streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, or Apple TV, and supported by the technical team from Shift72, Cabot To-Go offers dozens of new and classic films to be rented on-demand. However, unlike similar platforms, a member subscription is not required. Each film will be available as an on-demand rental - all in support of your local community theater.

Community Conversations are free monthly events at The Cabot designed to promote discussion and drive change on important topics to our community.

Community Conversations is a talk series with screenings, speakers, and sometimes musical performances, covering a variety of timely, social topics. Community Conversations was first announced in May 2021 and has covered topics such as homelessness, disability, and workplace equity.

THE CABOT GOES GREEN PLEASE HELP US GREEN THE CABOT! Live events can create large quantities of waste - from thousands of plastic cups to pallets of cardboard, tons of leftover food, to hours of inefficient energy use.

The Cabot is dedicated to conserving valuable resources and reducing the ecological footprint of the Cabot on the earth and in the community we serve.

Our goal is to eliminate unnecessary waste, minimize adverse impacts on our cherished resources, and promote sustainable practices among other venues and communities. Starting with all of our current Cabot cups, lids, straws, napkins and popcorn bags being compostable. Please join us in our efforts when you visit The Cabot! Our next goal is to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles by the end of 2022!

OFF-CABOT COMEDY CLUB Off Cabot Comedy & Events is an exciting new venture presented in partnership with The Cabot and John Tobin Presents. Located down the street from The Cabot Theater at 9 Wallis St. in downtown Beverly, this new 120-seat comedy club will be a hotspot for comedians on the North Shore and the Greater Boston region.

NEW LOBBY. NEW ATTITUDE. Thanks to your previous support, we have finished renovating the lobby and adding a new staircase. The Dodge Family Lobby has been open for one year and it has been wonderful to see people enjoying this space and coming back to the theater after a 15-month shutdown.

THE CABOT’S CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS The Cabot is in the home stretch of our capital campaign to transform our historic theater into a modern venue while still preserving its 1920s grandeur.

We are focused on making our space comfortable, safe, and inclusive for our entire community.

Our goal is to install an elevator that will transport patrons, staff, and artists throughout the building, create additional accessible restrooms, and other updates to the building to bring our 100+-year-old building into 2022.
