AN EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER

“We are really a community development organization, and we do that work through the arts.”

Executive Director, Casey Soward

The Cabot welcomes over 90,000 guests a year to watch world-class acts like Elvis Costello and Grace Potter and laugh along with outstanding comedians at Off Cabot. But at our essence, we are a non-profit that places cultural enrichment and community at its heart.

THE CABOT’S BIG NIGHT

2024

What do you get when you plan the biggest party of the year, add some signature Cabot WOW moments, and then invite an in-demand national artist who has never before graced the stage of our intimate theater to perform for a packed house? An experience like no other!

Every Spring, The Cabot community comes together for a special evening of celebration to raise money to restore and renovate our beautiful historic theater, and ensure vibrant programming for the coming year. We also take this time to honor a supporter or organization that has contributed in an extraordinary way to The Cabot’s evolution.

Honoring Thad Siemasko and SV Design

In 2024, we are excited to announce that we will honor architect and Cabot founder, Thad Siemasko and his firm SV Design, for almost 10 years of incredible design services and countless hours of volunteer time that have transformed The Cabot into one of the premier performing arts venues on the North Shore.

The Cabot embarked on a multi-year, multi-million dollar renovation in 2017 to not only restore parts of the theater to its original 1920s grandeur, but to upgrade and modernize all current systems to better enhance the live experience. This included replacement of all theater seating, opera box restoration, new sound and stage lighting systems, new heating and air conditioning, the completion of the lobby renovation and restoration of the original rose window, and the installation of an elevator and other accessibility improvements.

Thad and SV Design have spearheaded this enormous effort and we are grateful for their profound commitment to our North Shore community.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Our filmmaking program In Focus celebrated its first anniversary this past summer (cue the streamers) and shows no signs of slowing down! The program has welcomed more than 40 students over the past year, with more students returning every semester, and offered an incredible space for sharing stories, learning hands-on skills, and forming connections.

This summer marked an important milestone in the program as we welcomed back students from previous sessions as Counselors in Training (CITs) to mentor our newer students. The CITs provide valuable insight and guidance to our students, demonstrating the program’s positive impact on participants over time. This fall brings a fresh crop of students and CITs eager to learn and collaborate.

FAVORITE MEMBERSHIP BENEFIT: Early access to purchasing concert tickets. Followed closely by the wonderful Kids at The Cabot shows. My daughter says it’s free popcorn!

FAVORITE FAMILY MOMENT AT THE CABOT: When my daughter got to meet the cast of The Little Mermaid ballet. Seeing our daughter have these joyful and exciting moments is just so special for us as parents.

WHAT SHOULD EVERYONE KNOW ABOUT THE CABOT?

It’s not just the theater—it’s the whole experience of coming to downtown Beverly. The parking is easy, we choose a great cafe to visit, and also go to the bookstore. It’s a whole afternoon or day of fun.

“There’s not a bad seat in the house. We were in the second to last row for Ray LaMontagne and it was still such an intimate experience.”

THE CABOT IN THE COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS COMING SOON!

Community Conversations are free monthly events that address our community’s collective well being through education, experiential arts, social connection, and a public forum for important social issues.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

The Cabot works with the Mass Cultural Council and Department of Transitional Assistance to offer low-income families access to arts and culture experiences through the Card to Culture program. All Massachusetts residents have access to cultural experiences through this program.

The Cabot is also excited to be partnering with Vet Tix, a non-profit that provides tickets to veterans for events that reduce stress, strengthen family bonds, build life-long memories and encourage service members and veterans to stay engaged with local communities and American life.
