其實，大自然就是一個多采多姿的寶庫，充 滿人類想像不到的美景。當中不乏精巧的設計、
美麗的線條、 以及充滿詩意的顏色。不信的話， 歡迎參閱「 Report No. 124 大自然的蕾絲」。

Summer is the season of butterflies. (Papilio demoleus) 無尾鳳蝶-
夏天是蝴蝶的季節
Summer is the season of butterflies. This year, there were five caterpillars of the Lemon butterfly (Papilio demoleus) hatching on my balcony: four of them have successfully turned into beautiful butterflies (coincidence? all are girls); one was send to a friend (with two small orange trees together), and later it transformed successfully also. If the butterfly that was send to the other person is not counted, the butterfly of other species is not counted, but the six in the past are counted, then there are totally ten Lemon butterflies with successful metamorphoses on my balcony. 【6 + 4 = 10】
Last year, when I had the fifth one, I took a very serious shot of each step of the transformation of

夏天是蝴蝶的季節，這一年共 有五隻無尾鳳蝶的幼蟲在我的陽 台孵出：其中四隻成功蛻變成美 麗的蝴蝶（好巧，都是女生哦）； 一隻送朋友養（連著兩小盆橘子 樹一起送），後來也蛻變成功。
如果送人的蝶不算的話，其他品 種的蝶也不算的話，加上往年六 隻的成果，至今有十隻無尾鳳蝶 在我的陽台育成。【6 + 4 = 10】
前一年在養第五隻時，很認真 的拍攝了毛毛蟲變蝴蝶的每一個 步驟，收錄在我的第94號到第 101號（共8篇）的報告裡(參閱 Vol. 7)，還有影片剪輯放在 YouTube，有興趣的朋友可以

4. After the caterpillar ate the half of the leaves, an empty nest of a jumping spider was exposed. And you can see its innocent eyes (in fact, the fake eyes on the back).
被蟲啃掉一半的葉子後，一個跳蛛的空巢 穴露了出來，你看牠無辜的眼神(其實是背 上花紋形成的假眼)。

5. Two weeks later, the butterfly climbed out of the pupa.

1. A Light-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus sinensis) called A-Pui visited my balcony in Taichung, Taiwan. She took off a fresh leaf and held in her mouth. I initially thought she was here to requite an obligation.
白頭翁阿肥來我的陽台，她叼下一片洋紫荊的 嫩葉含在嘴裡。我原本以為她是要來報恩的。

No. 123 Two moments (Papilio demoleus)
無尾鳳蝶
- 褪裳兩瞬間
蝴蝶的幼蟲怎麼變裝的呢?原來是把舊衣裳褪 去，讓底下的新裝露出來：
1. The sheding moment of a fourth instar caterpillar to a fifth instar (final) caterpillar
從四齡幼蟲到五齡（終齡）幼蟲的蛻皮瞬間。
2. The molting moment of a fifth instar (final) caterpillar to a chrysalis (pupa)
從五齡（終齡）幼蟲到蛹的蛻皮瞬間。

1. 無尾鳳蝶(Papilio demoleus)幼蟲即將蛻皮。牠 已不動不進食好一陣子。舊皮膚有點皺皺，新皮膚
的顏色不同已顯露出來。後頭那隻是還沒有要蛻皮 的同齡(四齡)幼蟲，維持舊的顏色，可以當對照組。

2. 舊皮從頭端裂開，蟲往前爬。
舊皮的尾端似乎黏在樹葉上，讓 舊皮順利被脫掉，不被蟲往前帶。

3. 蟲完全爬出舊皮，露出漂亮的綠色，成為五齡 （終齡）幼蟲(fifth instar (final) caterpillar)。
剛蛻皮的蟲顏色比較淡，略呈黃綠色，過一陣子
顏色會變深，成為漂亮的亮綠色。

4. 經過幾天的猛吃後，蝴蝶 幼蟲吐絲進入前蛹期，約18 個小時後，舊皮再度從頭端 裂開，蛹(chrysalis / pupa) 即將露出來。左邊是牠姐姐 離開後的空蛹殼。

5. 舊皮像一件緊身衣， 後頸的拉鍊被往下拉開 後，蛹經過不斷的前後 伸縮運動後露了出來。

6. 綠色的蛹冒出來了，將來形成 蝴蝶的眼睛、翅膀、以及身體的 形狀其實已經可以看出來了(一切 都已經安排好了)。之後蛹會左右 扭動，像在跳舞，把舊皮(包含舊 面具)甩到地上。整個脫皮時間約 2分鐘，不特地守候觀察的話， 其實很容易錯過。
因為蛹除了尾端固定在附著物上， 腰部還被絲線繞著固定，這樣的 蛹又稱為帶蛹。

2. It is a web by a spider (Argiope aetheroides). This may be the most elaborate spider web ever found on my balcony.
它其實是一張中形金蛛織的蜘蛛網。 這可能是我陽台上發現過的蜘蛛網 中，最精緻的一個。

3. In the center, a conspicuous silk web decoration or stabilimentum in a orb-weaving spider's web caught my eyes.

5. After raining that broke the beautiful spider web, this young spider was exposed now.

1. One day, near the root of the orange tree trunk, a fifth instar (final) caterpillar decided to transform to a pupa.
一天，一隻五齡（終齡）幼蟲決 定在這棵橘子樹幹靠近樹根的方 脫皮成蛹。

5. She decided to transform to a pupa just next to the empty pupa of her big sister. This time, she was brown.

6. Coupled with another (middle sister) green pupa, there were three sisters pupae with different appearances.

Jumping spider- Popeye the Sailor (Phintelloides versicolor)
眼鏡擬黑條蠅虎- 大力水手卜派
1. Day 1: A male jumping spider (Phintelloides versicolor) & his silken pup tent were found on a leaf of Yellow Bells (Tecoma) on my balcony in Taichung, Taiwan.
一隻公的跳蛛(眼鏡擬黑條蠅虎)捲起一片黃鐘花的 綠葉，用絲織成他的小帳篷。

2. He had a big white nose and two white beards. It looked like a strong old gentleman (?). I called him "Popeye the Sailor".

3. When I pushed my camera lens close to him, he hid into his little tent.

1. A gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus) on my balcony in Taichung, Taiwan 一隻疣尾蜥虎/仙尪仔(壁虎)趴在黑板樹的樹幹上，
靠近樹根處，由於牠背後無路可退了，乖乖不動讓 我拍照。尾巴突出的顆粒，可以用來分辨疣尾蜥虎 或無疣蜥虎。
