New success for Akomag

Recently the company delivered, installed and tested a new machine intended for washing recycled glass bottles. The machine for the PepsiCo group is a Hydra 8.2, characterised by a very high production: 37,500 bottles/h. The new model, the pride of mechanical Made in Italy, reaches a mechanical efficiency equal to 99.4%, successfully exceeding the standards required by the customer in the contractual phase. With this new provision, Akomag confirms itself once again as world leader in the construction of glass bottle washers. The bottle washer has been specially designed to minimise the environmental impact, with particular attention to water and steam consumptions, and to the duration of the detergent bath. The completely automated wash cycle includes an initial bottle-emptying station followed by a pre-wash spraying and first pre-soak bath that significantly reduces detergent bath pollution and markedly decreases consumption levels. In the pre-soak area the project also provides for the installation of a belt filter that allows to automatically remove the main impurities typical of recycled bottles (straws, paper, cigarette butts, for instance). The washing of bottles is completed with the internal and external high-pressure detergent wash sprays, using self-cleaning and selfcentring rotating nozzles.

Mains water for spray-rinsing

In designing Hydra 8.2, Akomag has focused on the final rinsing sprays using mains water. The expedients developed during the design stage have allowed to achieve extraordinary results. By installing a special valve with integrated flow meter on the mains pipe (controlled directly by the control panel), it is possible to detect the instantaneous and daily water consumption required for the proper washing of the bottles. With pride and satisfaction, Akomag technicians declare that thanks to the new design the new machine has a water consumption equal to 0.098 litres per bottle. A lower value than rigidly imposed in contractual phase by the customer. The supply is completed with many other

technological innovations, including sensors for slowing down or stopping the machine in case of missing or clogging of the bottles on the conveyor belts; synchronization systems of the bottle washer speed with that of the filling monobloc; control and introduction of detergent and additives in the washing bath and of sequestrants/ disinfectants in the spray tanks; self-cleaning filters in the tanks; automatic bottle loading and unloading, perfectly synchronized with the movement of the main chain.

BBM keeps your bottles super synchronized with the single-line-dynamic accumulation table: the intelligent buffering system is perfect to distribute unstable products that don’t need to touch each other.

The single-lane accumulation table from BBM is made from AISI 304 stainless steel structures and components identical to those required for the construction of slat conveyors. The single-lane dynamic system is made with two modular chains on a parallel side running in opposite directions. An especially driven mobile trolley equipped with a container conveying chain brings the containers from one lane to the other. This system is used to synchronize in a progressive way the product either if there’s a slowdown of downstream machines.

The DMC company was founded in 2001 and for the first few years the main activity was represented by mechanical processing for third parties, then the Labelling division was created, dedicated to the design and construction of labelling machines for the food and beverage sectors.

Today, the range of products by DMC includes innovative labelling machines with hourly production between 500 and 4000 bph and includes both bench models and semi-automatic and automatic line models. The flagship model among manual labelling machines is the ALPHA PRO, a bench machine suitable for the packaging of multiple types of containers, from cylindrical to conical, square and shaped, which guarantees high labelling precision and a quick and economical format change thanks to the use of the rotating plate system. This labelling machine is also designed for the application of a neck label or a small medal, allowing the packaging of the classic sparkling wine bottle to be carried out with manual bench equipment. Among the automatic models, the SONIC stands

out, an automatic 4000 bph labelling machine: it is a linear machine suitable for the packaging of cylindrical formats, which uses an innovative labelling system (patent pending) by means of opposing rollers which makes this model a valid alternative to traditional vacuum-type labelling machines. The range in 2022 has been enriched by a new labeller, the MHIRA model that will be presented at the SIMEI fair in Milan from 15 to 18 November 2022. This is the classic 1500 bph linear labeller for packaging the Bordeaux bottle, which however stands out for various technical features that make it a product that is certainly out of the standard. In fact, the machine uses the system of three labelling rollers but combines this module with a new unit for moving the capsule smoothing column, which allows to obtain an optimal finish, both with the rolling machine and with the thermal head, even at speed of 1500 bph. The screw feeder is universal and does not need to be replaced if multiple formats are used, furthermore the labelling stations are equipped as standard with an angular adjustment mechanism that allows you to work even with slightly conical formats. Among the accessory groups there is an optical system to search for the notch on the bottom of the bottles which guarantees the orientation of the package during the label application phase. The user interface has been completely redesigned: the operator has an 8-inch colour touch screen at his disposal, with which to set the labelling programs and carry out tests and manual cycles, all already set up for Industry 4.0. Last but not least, the footprint of the machine in its full-optional set-up, with dispenser, capsule smoothing, three labelling stations and final collection table is very small, allowing it to be installed even in small spaces.

In one of the most important companies of Italy’s canning industry, with the aim of extending the supply to the whole site, LCZ has provided its best technologically advanced configuration plant able to grant the minimum impact on running expenses, by reducing power, gas and water consumption down to the minimum.

Steam boiler CS12000 for steam production of 20 t/h and 15 bar, is characterized by yield up to 96%; it is managed by an automatic control system that enables the plant to run safely as long as 72 hours without requiring constant supervision of operators.

LCZ carried out in house engineering and manufacture of the boiler, and steam distribution collector; moreover, it also supplied boiler water treatment, as follows: inverse osmosis plant to produce 10mc/h of osmotized water pressurized thermophysic degasser LCZ also provides its customers with customized solutions to help them exploit process and combustion residual heat as much as possible, by building condensation

water recovery systems, pre-heating system for edible water, chimney heat recovery for process water production.

The system enables to get efficiency up to 105%, granting the optimization of temperature of flues into the atmosphere and producing saturated steam and hot water to be used in the process.

LCZ also acts on steam plants and boilers already in use, examining the possibility of operating interventions that improve overall system performances, reducing emissions and consumption.

In addition to energy audit, the technicians also analyze the operation parameters of the plant to work out a proposal of interventions to get significant:

- Fuel saving; - Energy saving; - CO2 emission reduction; - Covering of investments on White Certificates.

All single-speed motors are available with the level of energy efficiency in accordance with the new European regulation that has entered into force since July 1st 2021, the brake coils are undergoing improvements in terms of reducing energy consumption and increasing performance. Motors with IEC frame sizes 100 and 112 were the first to be presented in the market with most of the planned upgrades. The dimensions compared to the current production will be reduced, the frame offers an optimal heat dissipation capacity and allows, thanks to two dedicated lifting eyes, greater ease of handling. and reducing the installation time for the benefit of the end user. The rotors have larger active parts for the benefit of the motor efficiency with a low moment of inertia with important advantages for the motor in terms of dynamic performance and ability to make a high number of starts/stops per hour. TLS Filter, cutting-edge technology for sugar syrup and soft drinks

TLS Filter is VLS advanced solution for crossflow filtration of products. The filter enables to free users from the daily use of rotary drum vacuum filters and offers an automatic, economical filtration without using earth. Thanks to machinery remote control, the presence of the operator is minimal, thus ensuring easier and automatic operating process.

Thanks to its high-performing technology and the possibility of full customization, TLS Filter can be used to treat a great variety of products. For example, TLS can be used for fruit-juice concentrates and sugar solutions (sugar syrups, glucose, etc.), and for postfermentation lees and fermented lees post clarification. Other fields of application of TLS Filter are the treatment of less, musts and spirits (Atex execution) and of hard products with high concentrations of filtering aids (bentonite, gelatine and charcoal).

VLS technologies for soft drinks, juices and sugar solutions

Thanks to its great experience, VLS Technologies can offer the consultancy and the design of technologies for the filtration and treatment of food liquids also for the sector of fruit-based drinks, soft drinks and sugar solutions.

In these areas, the most innovative technologies by VLS are designed to meet the particular production needs. Among the different solutions suitable for the treatment of soft drinks and juices we can find TLS

cross-flow filter, SFT sheet filter and reverse osmosis plant, while for sugar solutions the best technologies are FRS rotary drum vacuum filter, FVV D.E. vertical filter and FOC D.E. horizontal filter.

Two rotary vacuum filters for the Indian market of fruit juices

For the sector of fruit-based drinks, VLS Technologies has signed a partnership with one of the main Indian producers of fruit juices, that has purchased two rotary vacuum filters with a surface of 25 sq.m to filter apple juice. FRS filters have been designed for the filtration of products with high content in solids through the usage of filtering adjuvant substances as kieselguhr.

Customized FRS filters for sugar syrup: A special solution for Coca Cola

For the innovative plant of Coca Cola Thailand, partner company of the international manufacturer of drinks for the Thai market, VLS Technologies has supplied two special FRS rotary drum vacuum filters, used to filter the sugar syrup, which is then used to process sugary-based drinks.
