Why did you decide to get into real estate?

I was always someone who struggled in school. I wasn’t passionate about being in a classroom and have always preferred to be out in the real world working with people. I’ve always been a people person, and real estate put me at the center of some of the most important moments in people’s lives. Thanks to this industry, I’ve gotten to witness and help people buy their first home as newlyweds, upgrade their home to start a family or finally purchase the home they’ve always dreamed of.

What does success mean to you?

Success is being able to help a person or family get into a better situation and knowing they couldn’t have done it without your help. I love my clients’ joy and appreciation.

What do you do to stay grounded/centered/sane?

Take my dog Hughie for a long, off-leash walk through the woods and over the lake.

When are you at your best?

When I’m working one-on-one with people — and after a morning cup of coffee.

How did your challenges shape who you are today?

As I said earlier, school was never my thing, and it always made me feel like I was less than. To make it in real estate, you have to solely rely on your people skills, your ability to communicate and your grit to tough it out when it gets hard, and I knew I had those.

What drives or motivates you?

The desire to meet new people and explore new places.

Who has helped you get where you are today?

My mom and dad have always been so supportive of me and my career choices. My brother Mike Schultz is also on my team now and contributes to the team’s success. He and Adam Graham are my rock star agents under me. Danny Vanderwiel helps me with all things video for social media. Todd Taliaferro — he was the first man I ever worked under, and he taught me everything I know about this industry.
