Why did you decide to get into real estate?

My wife and I had just gone through the process of selling and buying a home. As we navigated through the process, I really enjoyed everything about it and learning how things came together.

What does success mean to you?

Every time I get a referral from someone, I think of that as success. It means I did a good enough job or they trust me enough to help somebody they know through the process.

What are you most excited about in your life right now?

Madelyn Grace Lang — I am the father to the most intelligent, funny, beautiful girl this planet has ever seen. Every day talking with her and just being her dad is my honest honor.

What do you do to stay grounded/centered/sane?

This job can be hectic at times. My wife is an amazing sounding board for me. I also started speaking with a business coach last year, meditating and exercising regularly. Additionally, I have a number of mentors who I try to check in with weekly.

When are you at your best?

I thrive off of the chaos of this industry. When stuff hits the fan, that’s when I get to work. I think I’m a very good problem solver and do a good job of communicating with others.

What drives or motivates you?

I keep my production sheets from the previous year hung up by my desk and always compare them to where I’m at that year. Up to this point in my career, I’ve improved every year over year, so I know that I am my only competition. People will ask “what’s your secret?” or “how do you do so much business?” But for the elite agents, it’s just what you do. Being Kyle Lang is how I do it.

Who has helped you get where you are today?

My wife for sure — she has always been a big supporter of mine. My broker Lisa Hall really treats me like family and has always believed in me. My goal for 2020 was $10 million, and she told me I’d do $12 million. Wouldn’t you know, I finished with just over $12 million.

As a 2021 Best-in-Class honoree, what are your words of wisdom for the next generation of real estate agents?

Be yourself. This stuff is not learned in a book — go out there and talk to people. If you aren’t being told “no,” you aren’t working enough.
