The summer season is officially here, and we couldn’t be more excited. Our reimagined 18-hole Osprey Meadows Golf Course opened on July 5 and is already a hit. Additionally, much has happened over the past few months in terms of new amenities, programs, and overall growth, giving us plenty to be excited about this summer.

A feature on Tamarack appeared in the publication titled “Swing Into Summer: Tamarack Resort shines with new, jaw-dropping golf course, new high-end homes, and more.” We also made the Wall Street Journal’s list of “Best Ski Resorts in North America.” Both of these outstanding honors are a testament to our continuous desire to deliver quality experiences and an abundant lifestyle to our homeowners, members, and guests. With that in mind, I wanted to share the latest updates on some of our larger capital projects—projects that will further solidify Tamarack as America’s only ski, golf, and lake resort.

LAKE AND WATERFRONT UPDATE: The waterfront opened for the season Memorial Day Weekend and is enjoyed by swimmers, boaters, anglers, paddleboarders, and more. As for the Marina, we are working diligently with the federal government and anticipate that construction will begin this fall, with a goal to be finished before winter. The first phase of the Marina will include 66 boat slips, an on-water fueling station, and enhanced upland amenities. For this summer, Tamarack will continue with the same waterfront operations as in the past, including motorized and non-motorized rentals for boats, kayaks, and SUPs. A big thank you to everyone who wrote letters of support for the Marina.

MEADOWS GOLF COURSE:

The reimagined 18-hole Osprey Meadows Golf Course opened for play on July 5 and is already a hit. Osprey Meadows has again emerged as one of the great mountain golf courses, offering both challenges and accessibility for all levels of golfers. We can’t wait to see you out on the course, enjoying the stunning views and challenging terrain.

MID-MOUNTAIN LODGE: We’re aiming for a December Grand opening. Construction progress is moving along steadily, and we are right on schedule. This new amenity will be an on-mountain social hub for families and friends—a great place to warm up, grab a bite to eat, and take a breather before hitting the slopes again. The panoramic views are going to be incredible, featuring the Village and golf course, Lake Cascade, and Long Valley. Q & A WITH OUR NEW TAMARACK CLUB DIRECTOR, TERRI MAYNARD

We’re thrilled to welcome Terri as our new Club Director. Although she just began her official new role in June, she is no stranger to Tamarack. After relocating to Valley County in 2015, she and her husband began to hear murmurings about “this great mountain resort about 90 miles from Boise.” After a few visits, they bought a Boundless Pass so that they could enjoy year-round outdoor recreation and activities. What is fortunate for all of us at Tamarack is that Terri has a strong background in Hospitality and Food and Beverage. This, combined with her love and passion for Tamarack, make her an ideal fit to enhance, elevate, and grow the overall Club at Tamarack experience for Members.

Q: SO TERRI, ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW ROLE AS CLUB DIRECTOR?

TERRI: Very excited. I fell in love with Tamarack years ago, driving up here on weekends to ski in the winter and enjoy all the seasonal activities in the warmer months. Tamarack has been a big part of our lives ever since we moved to Valley County a decade ago. I could not be more excited to work with this highly motivated Leadership Team. We have great plans for The Club at Tamarack.

Q: AND THE TAMARACK CLUB IS A FAIRLY NEW FEATURE FOR HOMEOWNERS.

TERRI: That’s right. Tamarack Club officially began in November, so about seven months ago. Over that time, it has evolved and will continue to grow in exciting new directions, offering a wide range of social programming and events.

Q: THERE CERTAINLY SEEMS TO BE A GENERAL BUZZ ABOUT THE CLUB, AS WELL AS A LOT OF INTEREST FROM TAMARACK HOMEOWNERS.

TERRI: The Club has been well received and we always want feedback from the members—what are we doing right, what should we do more of, how can we improve the overall experience. We are here to serve the Members by creating new experiences and memories throughout the year: spring, summer, fall, and winter. In the short time since the Club opened, we have had a number of exclusive Member events…community excursions, wine tastings, scavenger hunts, wellness programs, parties, member breakfasts, and so forth.

Q: AS WE HEAD INTO SUMMER, WHAT IS THE GOAL MOVING FORWARD FOR TAMARACK CLUB?

TERRI: Our driving purpose right now is to elevate the Club experience by adding a carefully curated program of Member events. Although we are always adding ever-new programs and gatherings, our emphasis is on quality rather than quantity. We want to create unique, highly personalized experiences that go above and beyond what’s expected. We are helping create a true community of Members by offering events and activities that build strong bonds, in addition to creating a lot of timeless memories.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF GATHERINGS AND EVENTS CAN MEMBERS LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS?

TERRI: We have so many good things in the works, and I don’t want to spoil the surprise but, we are actively planning new events and gatherings that will bring families together. We will have guided hikes and fishing trips, regular wine tastings from local vintners, special outings in the community, wellness programs and yoga classes, community dinners under the stars, lake cruises and parties, Osprey Meadows golf events, and on and on. We have put a lot of thought into what our Members want—and listened to their suggestions and ideas—so that we can build a social curriculum that rivals any club resort experience in the region.

LAKE CASCADE

LAKE CASCADE: A LONG-TIME TAMARACK STAPLE

Lake Cascade has an interesting history. Congress approved the construction of a dam on the North Payette River and The Cascade Dam was built between 1946 and 1948. Underneath the beautiful mountain lake lies the remnants of the towns Van Wyck, Center, and Arling, which were completely submerged by 1957. Today, it is the fourth largest body of water in Idaho—with an impressive 47 miles of surface area—and is a favorite for Tamarack owners and members who enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, or simply spending a relaxing day on the Tamarack Beachfront.

DID YOU KNOW?

Fishing is a year-round sport at Lake Cascade. Anglers can fish from the shore or a boat spring through fall, or through the ice during the winter. The lake has an abundance of rainbow trout, small mouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, and two kinds of salmon (Kokanee and Coho), catfish, and muskie.

LIFE ON THE LAKE

Lake Cascade presents 47 square miles for recreation and relaxation, and The Waterfront is Tamarack’s activity outfitter for watersports fun. That includes a wide range of boating, kayaking, water sports/ activities, and of course, great fishing. “We love getting out here on the lake with our kids and we try to come up every weekend we can in the summer,” says Tamarack Owner, Graham Delaet. “Our twins are 8 years old now and already they’re into fishing and kayaking. It’s been a lot of fun watching them have fun on the lake.”

SUMMER TRAILBLAZERS IS BACK - FRIDAYS, 5:00-8:00 PM, JUNE 23 – AUGUST 11

This is a great program for kids—and an opportunity to participate in group activity on the lake, that includes 1-on-1 instruction with a trained instructor. Each child can choose their water sport activity: waterskiing, wakeboarding, and/or wake surfing. All participants in the Summer Trailblazer program load the boat at 5:00 pm and head out on the water. (The duration for each excursion varies and will depend upon the number of participants.)

HOMEOWNER PROFILE: GRAHAM DELAET

You would think a former card-carrying PGA golfer—who was once ranked #26 in the world—would only be interested in a golf-centric community. But for Graham Delaet and his family, golf is but the tip of the iceberg. They fell in love with Tamarack because of “all the other stuff they offered for families throughout the year.” Don’t be mistaken, Graham is plenty excited about the Grand Opening of Osprey Meadows and has called it “an impressive design.” But for he and his wife Ruby, Tamarack is about creating life-long memories with their two 8-year-old twins, both of whom absolutely love Tamarack.

Q: HOW DID YOU DISCOVER TAMARACK?

GRAHAM: I suppose it was back in college, I went to Boise State. We spent a lot of time in McCall and Donnelly and I would hear people talking about Tamarack and how great it was, but it was after college, with Ruby, that we really started coming up here a lot…and, of course, eventually bought a place so we could call it home.

Q: WHEN WAS THAT?

GRAHAM: In 2019 we bought a lake cabin up in the area and then in July 2022 we bought a residence in the Village above the ski shop. We like the location, it’s in the center of everything—and we have it in the rental program which has been great.

Q: HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO TAMARACK?

GRAHAM: All the time. We try to get up here every weekend in ski season, our twins are already pretty good little skiers. So that’s been fun. And same thing in the summer—we come up here as much as possible. We love to go fishing and kayaking and just hang around the lake. Over the past couple of years they have made friends with other kids up here so that’s been huge. We love how family oriented Tamarack is.

Q: AS A FORMER PGA TOUR PROFESSIONAL, I HAVE TO ASK YOU, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW ROBERT TRENT JONES II GOLF COURSE?

GRAHAM: I haven’t actually played it but I can’t wait to get out there after the Grand Opening this July. I have driven along the course in a golf cart and I can tell you it looks outstanding. There are some really pretty holes in the meadow and tucked into the pines—it has good routing. Like a good resort course, it will offer lots of multiple tee options so you can make it as long or as short as you want. That’s great for competitive golfers who want a challenge, as well as for kids and weekenders who just want to have fun.

Q: WHAT IS IT ABOUT TAMARACK THAT STANDS OUT TO YOU? WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?

GRAHAM: It’s so many things. It’s the people, the community, very family-oriented. It’s the skiing in the winter, it’s the fishing and kayaking in the summer, it’s the hiking and biking in the fall and spring, there’s always something special each season. And for Ruby and me, it’s all about the kids. They are 8-and-a-half and already they love it here. This is a place to get them outdoors, away from the TV, so they can discover new activities. They’ve made friends here and we have gotten to know several other families with kids their age. So above all, for us, Tamarack is a place where families and kids can just have fun, relax, and create new memories together.

1. DONNELLY IS KNOWN AS THE CROSSROADS TO RECREATION, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO RECREATE?

From the ski mountain to the lake, you will find me everywhere in between. My favorite way to recreate is boating: I’ve fallen in love with wake surfing/boarding.

2. WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOUR FAVORITE VIEW POINT IN TAMARACK?

Tamarack is stunning from practically anywhere, but my favorite would have to be from the north cornice on Tamarack’s summit, especially after a snowstorm. This view is simply breathtaking.

3. SUMMER IS HERE, SO WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE (AND LEAST FAVORITE) SUMMER TRADITIONS?

Favorite would be family BBQs and day trips. I love everything about the outdoors, so I guess my least favorite would be having to stay inside!

4. IN THREE SENTENCES OR LESS TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I am an Idaho Native, born and raised in Eagle, ID. I moved to the Tamarack area in 2020; it was a no-brainer to live where I would always vacation. My first time visiting Tamarack Resort was in 2004, and have skied here almost every year since.

5. IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I have always wanted to learn a foreign language. Slowly but surely, I am currently teaching myself Spanish. Fictionally speaking, I would love to learn how to fly!

6. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO BUY RIGHT NOW?

If you are looking to purchase a home in the area of Tamarack, you’ll not only fall in love with your new home but also all the activities, memories, and beauty surrounding it.

7. IN YOUR OPINION WHAT’S THE COOLEST DESIGN TREND YOU ARE SEEING IN HOMES TODAY?

1. Color and textures! Its fascinating to see how these elements can reflect each person’s unique taste. I especially love textured title, splashes of color, and the use of raw materials.

2. Appliance garages, I installed one in my home and I love how it combines functionality with the ability to keep things neatly tucked away when not in use.

8. IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE LIVING OR DEAD, WHO WOULD IT BE?

If I could meet anyone, the first to come to mind is Amelia Earhart. I find her story incredibly fascinating, and I would love to hear firsthand about her experiences.

9. IF YOU HAD TO EAT ONE MEAL, EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Sushi! There are so many different variations, it never gets old!

10. LASTLY, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WORKING IN REAL ESTATE?

Almost no two properties are alike! Every day in real estate is different, and that’s what I enjoy about the real estate profession. But above all, my favorite part is meeting so many people and helping them find their dream property. It is incredibly rewarding to me.
