It’s been a great summer at Tamarack and we still have several weeks to go before the seasons start to change. The weather has been great and I have seen so many families up here enjoying the great outdoors. Whether it’s at Lake Cascade or the Downhill Bike Park or on the newly completed Osprey Meadows Golf Course. Behind the scenes we have been busy too, working on a number of projects and our Club at Tamarack offering. Here’s a few items of interest.
It’s never been easier to get to Boise. Boise Airport is served by nine airlines that offer nonstop flights to 28 destinations with connecting flights to thousands of cities worldwide. You can find Boise’s new nonstop flight map on page 65.
CONSTRUCTION: Many construction projects are now in full swing. Some of you have no doubt noticed the work being done in and around the Mid-Mountain Lodge. We are happy to say that we are currently on schedule for a December Completion date...just in time for the peak ski season.
PROPOSED MOUNTAIN
EXPANSION:
This past month Tamarack kicked off the public engagement portion for the proposed mountain expansion with two public meetings in Valley County. These public meetings are an opportunity for the public and other important stakeholders to ask questions and provide comments on our proposed expansion and are an integral part of the planning process. REAL ESTATE: Activity has been great the past few weeks as we have seen a significant uptick in property sales. This is indicative of the giant strides Tamarack Resort has made—and continues to make each day. The buzz and demand are real. This increase underscores the strong appeal and unique charm of our area, drawing more people to invest in our vibrant and evolving community.
SUMMER CONCERT SERIES: Come enjoy a Summer Concert every Saturday evening at Tamarack. The Summer Concert Series kicked off Memorial Day Weekend and will run through Labor Day Weekend. You can find a schedule for upcoming summer events on page 30.

Q & A WITH KEVIN MCKEE, ARCHITECT - PROJECT MANAGER
UPTIC STUDIOS, SPOKANE WA

Kevin knows this region as well as anyone. He was in Boise from 1982 – 2005 and has worked in and around the area ever since, including McCall, Sun Valley, Schweitzer, Coeur D’ Alene, and other desirable locations in the Northwest. Today, he is with the innovative design firm, Uptic Studios, and is staying quite busy. He also has a great history with Tamarack and is very well versed in what it takes to build a premier mountain home.
Q: HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH TAMARACK KEVIN?
KEVIN: Well, that was a while back…but I had been working in the area and was fortunate enough to work with some great homebuyers at Tamarack. Over the years, I have built nine to ten custom homes, as well as a dozen Townhomes. I have been lucky to work in some great communities like Tamarack, including Schweitzer, Gozzer Ranch, Whitetail, CDA National Reserve, and Marama Nevada.
Q: WHAT DOES UPTIC STUDIOS BRING TO THE TABLE?
KEVIN: I joined Uptic Studios about a year-and-a-half ago because I loved their energy and innovative approach. I come from a traditional mountain-design upbringing, if you will, and Uptic is elevating the mountain aesthetic with a holistic design approach and cutting-edge technology to create some incredible work. We emphasize quality and attention to detail in a wide variety of high-end, mountain-modern homes, residences, and multifamily communities. We have a lot of personal experience working with premier resort communities in the West and few have as much to offer as Tamarack. With the skiing, the golf, and the lake, they are a true all-season community and I think Uptic Sudios is the ideal fit for anyone in Tamarack looking to build their dream home.

Q: I THINK I SAW THAT ONE OF YOUR TAMARACK HOMES IS FOR SALE
KEVIN: Yes, 920 Discovery Drive. It’s a nice home with a great location within Tamarack Resort.
Q: HOW HAS MOUNTAIN DESIGN CHANGED OVER THE YEARS?
KEVIN: Well, it depends where you are and the type of location or community you’re working in, but for the most part, good mountain design combines the natural, rustic elements they draw us to the mountains in the first place, along with a modern sophistication and a contemporary palette of design that is at once elegant and comfortable. Architects today also need to be versatile and able to build to new buyer preferences and needs, as well as increased performance and sustainability requirements. For instance, outdoor and fireplace and fire pit areas are also becoming quite creative blurring the lines between outdoor and indoor environments. Building for a specific individual or family is crucial part of the overall living experience. We have a saying at Uptic Studios, if our customers can dream it, we can bring it to life.
Q: BASED ON THAT, IT SOUNDS LIKE TAMARACK WOULD BE AN IDEAL FIT FOR YOU AND UPTIC.
KEVIN: For sure. I personally love Tamarack…the people, the sense of community, all the great amenities and activities they offer. It’s important for new homebuyers to understand that when you build a home in Tamarack or other mountain communities, you are building for year-round living with drastic changes in weather. We take all of that into account—we take advantage of the solar dynamics of how the house should face in order to receive sun in the wintertime. We also conduct energy modeling to evaluate and improve the building’s performance. No matter what type of home we build, we consider the natural setting and resort features to blend in with that as harmoniously as possible. We want your Tamarack home to be at once your private sanctuary, as well as a natural extension of the natural paradise that’s all around.



TAMARACK BIKE PARK
Q & A WITH MITCH HERLEIN, TERRAIN PARK & BIKE PARK MANAGER

Mitch is an artist—a true expert at sculpting and shaping dirt and snow. If you have ever biked on one of his trails or courses, you’ll know exactly what we mean. “There is an aspect of art to it I guess,” says Mitch, “but mainly it comes down to understanding the terrain and the seasons to ensure the trails and runs are in peak condition at all times.” In all, Tamarack has 39+ miles of dedicated mountain trails with direct lift access to the downhill course. There is a great variety of trails—from the novice to the beginner—so this is a great family-centric activity for everyone.



Q: MITCH HOW LONG IS THE MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK SEASON?
MITCH: The goal is to open Memorial Day weekend, but because of the snow melt and unpredictable weather in the spring, it can be early June. It runs seven-days-a-week through Labor Day Weekend. This year, after September 2nd, we will be open Saturdays and Sundays through September 30th. And the dirt tends to be really good in September—it rides great.
Q: AND YOU HAVE A VARIETY OF TRAILS WITH VARYING DEGREES OF DIFFICULTY, I ASSUME?
MITCH: That’s right. We have 16.5 miles of trials in the Downhill Bike Park. Whether its technical or flow trails we try to accommodate everyone. We have the Tamarack Express Chairlift—complete with Bike Trays every three chairs—to make all the runs easy and accessible at the Downhill Park. In terms of difficulty, 34% of our bike trails are designated Green (easiest), 33% are Blue (intermediate), 26% are Black Diamond (expert), and 7% are Double Black Diamond (expertonly).
Q: I IMAGINE IT TAKES A LOT OF WORK TO MAINTAIN THE PARKS AND TRAILS
MITCH: It does take some work and we have a great team at Tamarack. Each season is different and so we have to flip over the trails for winter, repainting and grinding down the rails, sculpting the course and jumps, and so on. During the Spring and Summer our goal is to make sure the trails and runs are in peak condition every day. And given the weather in the mountains, you have to be able to adapt to different conditions
Q: THE BIKE PARK IS A GREAT FAMILY ACTIVITY, BUT SUPPOSE SOME FOLKS ARE TRUE BEGINNERS. HOW DOES THAT WORK?
MITCH: The green trails are easy and approachable, certainly not intimidating. And for anyone who is young or new to biking, they can get lessons and tips from Tamarack Outfitters. We want to make sure everyone feels comfortable and has fun, regardless of their age or experience on a bike. In the past year or so, we have expanded both our easiest trails and our most challenging ones. So, there are tons of options for everyone.
HOMEOWNER PROFILE: HAILEY & DAVE DAWSON

Hailey and Dave have been Tamarack owners since 2017. They fell in love after one short weekend trip. Originally it was the skiing that attracted them—both Hailey and Dave (along with their four children) are quite at home on the slopes. But like so many families at Tamarack, it was the four-season lifestyle that really won them over. (Side Note: Dave and Hailey both played collegiate athletics at the University of Washington but Hailey being the collegiate golfer is super excited about the newly opened 19-hole Osprey Meadows course.) The Dawson six are extremely active and try to spend as much time at Tamarack, living the all-season, outdoor lifestyle they’ve always wanted.
Q: SO, YOU GUYS WERE LIVING AND RAISING YOUNG CHILDREN IN NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, HOW DID YOU DISCOVER TAMARACK?
HAILEY: We came up for a wedding in McCall and liked the area so much we ended up moving here 4 months later. We built a home in Meridian in 2014, which is about two hours from Tamarack. Some friends suggested we rent a place together in Tamarack and after a magical weekend, we fell in love. That trip was super memorable since our kids had never played in the snow before! Our 5 and 3 year old boys were hooked on skiing and the rest is history.
Q: AND WHERE DID YOU ALL DECIDE TO BUY IN TAMARACK?
HAILEY: We bought a Townhome in 2017 near the village with ski-in, ski-out access. It takes us two minutes to ski to the lift from our front door. It’s pretty ideal! We wave goodbye to the kids off our deck and watch them ski off for hours of fun.
Q: I TAKE IT YOU GUYS ARE UP HERE A LOT?
HAILEY: When the kids were younger, we were up every weekend during ski season. As they’ve gotten older and have conflicting sports schedules, it’s not every weekend but pretty dang close. We just love the quality family time! My four kids (now 16, 13, and identical twin 10-year-olds) have all skied on the ski team for many years. We try to get up as much in the summer months as we can too. We absolutely love to get outdoors and take advantage of the hiking, biking, boating, etc.
Q: SOUNDS LIKE AN ATHLETIC LITTLE CREW. WHAT ELSE DO THEY ENJOY AT TAMARACK?
HAILEY: We all enjoy the activities and amenities for each given season. In the winter, we literally ski all day with an occasional skate ski and snow shoe sprinkled in. In the summer, we pop back and forth between Cascade Lake and the Osprey pool. We love the kayaking and paddle boarding, boating, hiking trails, bike pump track, and pickleball. The kids are entertained 24/7! We are also super excited about the opening of Osprey Meadows and look forward to playing the course regularly and using the driving range as another activity.
Q: AS A FORMER COLLEGIATE GOLFER, HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS NEW COURSE?
HAILEY: I think it’s a beautiful mountain course with a lot of variables and hazards to make it interesting. I look forward to playing it more and more with family and friends. At this stage of my life where I don’t get out and golf as much as I used to, I just appreciate a well-crafted course that allows you to have fun and make it as hard or easy as you like. It’s a great everyday course for all levels of golfers.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT TAMARACK?
HAILEY: Hmm, that’s hard because we do so much up here and enjoy so many different things. I would say, it’s the people and sense of community. Some of our very best friends are people we’ve met here—same with the kids. We are 100% a Tam Fam and absolutely love the opportunity we have as a family to be a part of such a great mountain resort community.

1. DONNELLY IS KNOWN AS THE CROSSROADS TO RECREATION, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO RECREATE?
For me it is based on the seasons. In the fall, I love hiking the trails and experiencing the colors and crispness of the mountain air. Winter is of course skiing. Summer I love spending the evenings boating on Lake Cascade.
2. WHERE WOULD WE FIND YOUR FAVORITE VIEW POINT IN TAMARACK?
Definitely at Tamarack’s summit. The sweeping 360 degree views of the valley and all 18 miles of Lake Cascade make it a premium location.
3. WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT LIVING HERE IN TAMARACK RESORT?
The variety of the seasons and the immediate access to everything I love to do outdoors.

I am not much into trends, so I would say it is the homes that maintain the timeless look and feel of mountain living but with a twist of modernity..

In no particular order, The Eagles, Miles Davis, Taylor Swift, Tom Petty, and Red Hot Chili Peppers
