CBM PRAYERLINE

KENYA Please pray for the preparation of next year’s summer camp ministry in Kenya, called Kamp Tumaini. As shared by the Kennys, CBM Africa Team Leaders, “we are very thankful for the commitment of the local Africa Brotherhood Church (ABC) that has been working with families infected and affected by HIV and AIDS for over ten years. The ABC is currently facilitating Guardians of Hope groups throughout Kenya. Kamp Tumaini is really one way to build upon their great work”. Also pray for the students, faculty, and administration at Mivumoni. Changes by the government's ministry of education have created a lot of confusion and tension throughout Kenya. Pray for patience and understanding throughout Kenya.

Notice Sussex Baptist Church will be serving hot chocolate at the Annual Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 3rd. The cost of hot chocolate is $200.00 (2 thermal urns). Currently, we have $70 collected. All contributions would be greatly appreciated. Please see Shawn.

BOLIVIA Pray for workshops on domestic violence in communities in Bolivia, developed by Kallie Hutton, CBM Field Staff in Bolivia using research out of Latin America and Bolivia and through consultation with local health professionals. A few months ago she was able to train a group of young women from a local church on how to facilitate the workshop. Please pray against the violence against women taking place in these communities, but also for the growing number of leaders committed to confronting this endemic.

Philippines The Waddell family, CBM Field Staff in the Philippines, ask for your prayers as they continue to learn about the Filipino culture and study the Tagalog language. Please pray as they prepare to move into a more permanent home this coming December or early January, as well as for CBM Field Staff Duane Guthrie and Michael Waddell, who will be travelling for ministry in the coming weeks. Pray for the family as the children continue to adjust and settle into the differences of life.

Nightmuis The Sussex Choral Society presents its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 4, 7:30 PM, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Sussex. Directed by David Mitchell, with accompaniment by Karen Gallagher, this year’s concert features soloists Joseph Goodwin and Lisa Linden, as well as the Sussex Corner Elementary School Choir and Tammy Morris. Tickets are $15, available at Winterwood Food Store, Back Stage Music, and at the door.

Quilts for Graduates Atlantic Baptist Women present quilts to the female graduates of Acadia Divinity College to recognize their achievement and demonstrate support. These quilts are presented to the students who have completed their Masters of Divinity program. The next quilt presentation will take place at the ABW’s interMISSION in May 2017. Over the winter the ladies of the Virginia Keith ABW will be quilting a quilt for this project. Any quilters that would be interested in helping our ladies quilt are encouraged to call Cynthia Vail – 433-9898. What a great way to spend the winter completing a missions project from Sussex Baptist!

Shawn & Diane’s Mission Trip Pastor Shawn and Diane have the opportunity to go on a short term mission trip to India for 15 days in March through an organization called "Far Corners Ministry" out of Halifax, NS. They will be taking part in different ministries while being there. Shawn and Diane are extremely excited to have the opportunity to invest in fellow believers in India. The cost of the trip for both Shawn and Diane will be $7,000.00. If you would like to help support them financially for this trip, cheques can be made out to "Far Corners Ministry" with Shawn and Diane Tait in the memo and can be dropped off at the main church office or mailed to: Far Corners Ministry 33 Byblos Road Upper Hammonds Plains, NS B4B 1Y1 Tax receipts will be issued by Far Corners Ministry for all donations.
