A Letter from the Editor

Letter down. The Government is taking steps to support millions of Aussie workers and of course that will be a debt that could take generations to payback. Rather than focus on the negatives though and I certainly don’t want to play the fear game like so many have in the media, I thought I’d look at my TOP 10 positives – of course there are way more. COVID-19 & Life Changes

What a month! The Corona Virus (CV) or COVID-19 has had a major impact on this planet and the ramifications are huge and far flung. Just a couple of months ago I was watching the CV panic start in Wuhan and the Chinese Government taking radical steps to shut the city down and deal with the victims and survivors alike. Little did we know that the CV across the planet has seen virtually every nation impacted as the virus spreads and creates fear, generated by the people. The loss of life is real, the virus is real, the impact this has had on billions of people is very real and depending on how folks look at it the end result is that life on this planet is changing – for good or bad, who really knows. What I know is that myself, like many of our writers and their families have had to close the doors on their businesses. We’ve lost income streams and it’s hard to pinpoint just when things might settle

Awesome Interviews

There are some fascinating columns to check out this month as well. Derran offers up some timely insights into surviving COVID-19 from inside the home.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jack Daniels, a Sydney based Illusionist. Not only was he down to earth and happy to chat about life being an illusion, he also managed to do a couple of illusions during our Zoom interview. Apart from the story inside the mag, we have two different vids for you to watch. One is about Jack and his life and the other includes the two illusions he did especially for us. Check them out via the website – www.supernalmagazineaustralia.com.au Freya Sampson also introduces us to an amazing guy called Leon Bracelin. Leon is the Archaeologist in Residence in Ludolow, Shropshire, England and what an amazing character he is. He is passionate about his work and how it ties into the esoteric world. Leon stated in the interview that, “I’m one of those unusual people, I am a scientist and I have a very deep association with the esoteric, meaning all of the very unusual things about life.” We’ve also organised a Supernal Radio interview with Leon that will be available as a podcast in the next month or so and Leon’s take on things is nothing short of an eye opener.

Also in this issue

Freya continues her series on Relationships, and looks at how and why some conflict in a relationship can be a good thing. Jane Offer is back with her Reflections column and looks at the illusion of time. Plus there’s a stack more reading from our regular columnists. As always, we are open to feedback, good, bad or otherwise and suggestions on how we can keep Supernal growing. Our ultimate goal is to be the most widely read magazine with the most significant subscriber base in Australia, and of course, create a vast worldwide audience. We need your help to achieve this, so please encourage your friends and family to subscribe! Have a Supernal month reading the mag!

FILM REVIEW By ShirleySienna

April 2020

Encore

Why Not Now was an excellent documentary created using old film material, with some explanatory cartoon graphics to make certain points and fill in some gaps. It was put together with sincerity, humour and was absolutely captivating; I think I left the cinema with a bit of a crush on the man himself, as I am sure did a few others! I am positive Alan himself would have appreciated the way this documentary portrayed the details of his personal and public life. His teachings allowed us to glimpse a legacy of information so uncannily relative to our current global situation, that I have no doubt he inspired the film-maker, from whatever world he now abides in, to get this film made. He was involved in world conferences for accessing solutions to the dilemmas facing humankind and the environment. He shared his teachings everywhere, from universities to coffee shops, a Zen-based TV show in America, where he lived most of his adult life although born in England, audio recordings and books. Alan was also involved in the creation of ‘The Oracle’, an underground newspaper founded in San Francisco, where he lived and worked for many years. Photo Credit: Supplied by ShirleySienna

Supernal Magazine

Alan’s popularity and life on a ferry-boat in the harbour became overwhelming due to the number of people, whose demands on his time, took him away from his writing. So, he moved out of the city into a simple place in the mountains, which, from the photos and video, looked uncannily like where one would epect the Zen Masters to abide in the mist-covered hills in China or Tibet. It was here I sensed that he really aligned with his purpose and relaxed into the integrity of the higher-self. He had no agenda except to share and encourage people to pursue integrity and awareness in all things and to create relatability to the energy of ‘Zen’. I was able to see how this charismatic soul lived and stayed true to his personal journey through decades of very changing and challenging times indeed. It gave me positive encouragement about my personal state of self- awareness and more than a little synchronicity, but also the feeling that perhaps we are bent on being doomed as a race of ‘eyes and mind wide shut’, hell-bent on ‘doing’, rather than ‘being’! His teachings, in both recordings and books, are popular and appreciated around the world, nearly 50 years after his death in 1973. He passed at only 57 years old. I wish Alan was around still, for I think a wise, humble and kind man, who was able to keep things simple, humorous and sensible, would be like a breath of fresh air in this year of 2020. Discovering Ayurveda By Liesl Horne

Restoring with Colour Consciously bringing colour into our everyday lives, promotes a sense of vitality and harmony to our wellbeing. Colour therapy is called chromotherapy. It is believed that exposing a person to a particular colour can trigger the effects that are needed to bring balance to their doshas (mind/body nature), helping to restore energy. What colours are you drawn to on an emotional and physical level? Do you have a particular colour that you find yourself attracted to frequently? There is a myriad of ways to embrace the therapeutic value that colour provides. Whether it’s through the decor in your home, the clothes that you wear, wearing precious gems or through the food that you prepare.

“…bringing colour into our everyday lives promotes a sense of vitality and harmony to our wellbeing.” A simple way to introduce more colour into your life is at home through fresh flowers or soft furnishings. Looking at the seasons for inspiration is a great place to start. Here in Australia, we are in autumn, a time of transition from the heat of summer to cooler and more drying conditions. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of warming tones such as amber, gold, orange and red along with textural velvets and natural fibres reflected outside in natures colour palette. Each of the doshas can be related to a colour and, by introducing specific colours, we can help to revitalise our system.

As well as having a unique prakruti (inherent mind/body nature), we also have a unique colour vibration that is comprised of subtle energies. 10

Supernal Magazine

Colour helps to revitalise the energy centres in the body through the subtle energy system of the chakras. Each chakra, a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or circle, is associated with a colour that influences the flow of energy through your body. Red stimulates circulation and aids those with anaemia, fatigue, and exhaustion. Yellow assists in digestion and liver processes helping to decongest and restore on both a physical and mental level. Blue promotes a calming quality and is helpful in reducing inflammation and agitation. It also helps us to express ourselves vocally. “Colour helps to revitalise the energy centres in the body through the subtle energy system of the chakras.” White is the balanced expression of all colours and it pacifies all three doshas. This can be seen in a bright white light in the aura when all colours are balanced. Colour embraces us everywhere in nature, lifting our mood and helping to restore us at our deepest level.

health and wellbeing

Colour is light, the source of light is the sun and being out in the fresh air connects you to this source. Creating an outside space in your garden is a great way to connect your senses with the colours of nature. It gives somewhere to sit and contemplate with the blue of the sky and the green of the grass under your feet allowing nature to nourish you. Activities such as colouring, drawing or painting are another way to bring colour into your experience. Colour helps us to move through an emotional block or challenge as it has a powerful effect on lifting our mood. Choosing plant-based food that includes plenty of colour, will also provide a rich variety of nutritional benefits. Attune yourself to the colours of the fresh produce next time you shop. Recipe books with beautiful pictures are also a great way to inspire creativity in the kitchen.

“…plant-based food that includes plenty of colour, will also provide a rich variety of nutritional benefits.” Through meditation, we can be in touch with areas of our body that are feeling depleted. Visualising a colour that resonates with how you want to feel, brings a specific vibrational note in through the energy centres. It may be a vibrant golden/white light with the intention to cleanse and restore or perhaps lilac or

pale blue to calm agitated emotions. Choosing a coloured crystal that you are drawn to can further enhance the energy centre that needs stimulating or soothing.

Reflections: The Illusion of Time By Jane Offer

Throughout our life, we seem governed by time constraints. We wear watches and have clocks in our houses, measuring the passing of time. In fact, the world is governed by precise timelines that organise our lives into order. We can plot the progress of time measurement devices throughout history and we can see how our life became so much more regimented. Before the 17th century, telling time was quite random: sundials were used, which made time local, relying on the position of the sun in a given geographical point. Longcase clocks only had one hand showing

12

Supernal Magazine

the hour change but no other division of time. In times where people were engaged in agriculture more than manufacturing, they got up with the sun and used it to govern their daily habits. Once the Industrial Revolution occurred, people began to organise themselves much more by time and timekeeping devices became far more accurate. “What does intrigue me though is why one day seems to last a long time and others just fly by.”

Today we believe we have too little time, telling ourselves that we are busy with no time for this or that. However, if we had more time, due to our nature, we would simply fill it with more of the same.

Albert Einstein put forward the idea that time is relative, that the perceived length of time of an event is relative to its content. “When you sit with a nice girl for two hours, you think it’s only a minute, but when you sit on a hot stove for a minute, you think it’s two hours.”

We’ve all experienced the feeling of an event dragging on, or being over in a moment, dependant on our level of enjoyment or interest. Modern-day quantum science is proving that time is an illusion created by our human mind to make sense of the events that occur around us. Scientists and Spiritual; teachers such as Ekhart Tolle, tell us that all that exists is Now, that the

health and wellbeing past is gone and cannot be altered and the future is made up of infinite possibilities. This was once explained to me in relation to a video adventure game. The characters and potentials are created and stored in the game based on past experience. The multiple outcomes are also programmed into the game just waiting for us to interact. The path we choose designates the result – the future. “Also, the people around you feel heard and are therefore less demanding of your time…”

The more I read about fractal time, the more confused I get and really, am I bothered by it? What does intrigue me though is why one day seems to last a long time and others just fly by. What do I do differently that creates this illusion? All I know is that time is not what it seems. I have just returned from a long-haul flight and I lived one day twice going out and one day simply disappeared coming back. Someone decided that time zones were the answer to travel and they altered time! So how can we stretch time and create less stress?

of importance. When we feel we absolutely must do something now, ask the question “Will it be just as important an hour from now?” If not, then let it go. Focus on what you are doing, giving it 100 per cent of your attention. If you are interrupted, detach from the task in hand entirely and turn your full attention to the interruption. When that is dealt with, fully focus again on the original task. This practice takes time to perfect, but ultimately you will find that each job is completed efficiently, your stress levels are reduced and you achieve much more in one day than you thought possible. Also, the people around you feel heard and are therefore less demanding of your time. “Once the Industrial Revolution occurred, people began to organise themselves much more to time.”

Explore your priorities. When you focus on what is important to you, it makes your soul sing and every task flows smoothly. We may have to do something we would prefer not to for a person we love and, in this case, if we make it a personal choice, we release any resentment. This makes the task a gift rather than an expectation.

We must acknowledge that we create the situations we find ourselves in. We want to be the friend or the model employee, or we feel we need to ‘do’ to be accepted and loved. However, we need to learn to say NO conclusively. To do this, it is essential not to use the word ‘No’, as it creates feelings of rejection and hurt. When someone demands from you repeatedly, try this out. They ask and you reply with confidence, along the lines of, “Of course I would love to help you, I just wish I had known about this yesterday. I have made an appointment that I really cannot break, but I am available on Thursday so we could catch up for coffee.” They will be so thrilled with the new arrangement that they will forget about their original request. The first time you do it, you will be nervous, but when you see how effectively it works, you will feel uplifted. You have nothing to lose in trying these out, only time to gain.

Manifesting Maven Finding Clarity for Your Business Amidst the Contrast By Dr Brooklyn Storme PhD

It’s an interesting time with respect to Coronavirus (COVID-19) from the perspective of business and it is therefore necessary to address how this pandemic may impact your business, as well as what you can do to mitigate any of the negative effects. This virus has been classified as a ‘low level’ virus by the World Health Organisation. This means that the virus itself, when compared to all other known viral conditions, ranks as one of the least dangerous. The reason why there has been so much discussion around it, is because it happens to be, when compared to other viral conditions, one of the most contagious. This means it spreads incredibly rapidly.

14

Supernal Magazine

“This virus has been classified as a ‘low level’ virus by the World Health Organisation.”

Throughout the past two or three weeks, there have been significant effects of the virus in Australia, not due to the condition but due to the government response to it and due to our perception of what it all means. Last week, I had my first panic attack in years. I was out trying to purchase toilet paper for my health and wellness practice and was in a big warehouse with a big empty trolley. Immediately upon walking inside, I was rammed in the legs by other shoppers’

trolleys as people were running down the aisles. The commotion was unbearable and I was knocked over, my mother pushed aside and unable to support herself without assistance. People pulled items from other’s trolleys, there was shouting and pushing. My face was burning with heat from the rush of anxiety that surged through me. Light-headed, I started looking around for an exit but couldn’t see one and this made my breathing even more rapid and shallow. Eventually I was free of the place and it took me a good few days to settle back down.

“I really wanted to try and make sense of it.”

business

“What lessons can you take from this experience to make your business even better as you move forward in 2020?”

What have we come to? It was only a few weeks prior that we had all banded together and donated hundreds of millions of dollars to the bushfire victims but now it felt like every man and woman for themselves. I really wanted to try and make sense of it. At the time of writing this, Australia has just closed her boarders and we anticipate that as our winter season approaches, lockdown is probably inevitable. Already on the street where I work on the coastal CBD of the Mornington Peninsula, many businesses are closed as a result of the recent social distancing laws. Hairdressers, massage therapist, physiotherapists, nail technicians, healers and anyone that needs to be within 1.5 – 2 meters distance to provide a service is as good

as out of business. And so now there’s another layer of panic on top of the virus itself. People are worried about paying bills, paying rent, surviving! If we look back over time, we can see that history is peppered with epidemics, and we can see that just as Universal laws predict, these conditions have been temporary. So, I believe this condition will be temporary too. We also know that it can be very hard to sit in contrast, but again, Universal laws inform us that contrast is required in order to see the beauty, experience the gratitude, and take lessons from our life experiences.

Contrast brings clarity about the things that we do not want, but also about the things that we do. So, if you’re in business now, I would encourage you to really look at what is being presented. What is this situation enabling you to get clear on? What would need to change for your business now in order for you to open up to the feminine energy and get into receiving mode? How can you use your masculine energy to take the course of action now that aligns with your soul’s purpose, and the bigger vision that you have for your business. What opportunities are becoming more available to your business now that weren’t there or weren’t accessible before? What lessons can you take from this experience to make your business even better as you move forward in 2020?

Supernal Interview

IS LIFE AN ILLUSION? An Interview with illusionist Jack Daniels by Anthony Kilner

Magic and illusion have fascinated me since I was a child. Watching David Copperfield enthralled me, opening my eyes to the magic of life and that it is - in real terms - an illusion. From a shy young boy, Jack Daniels realised his dream and now captivates audiences around the world with his own brand of illusion and the odd bit of magic thrown in for good measure. Interviewing this down to earth dad of two was interesting and fun and he performed some of his illusions for our video!

Who is Jack Daniels? “My family background is Armenian, very Mediterranean basically. We came to Australia when I was five, so I pretty much grew up here. My wife is originally from Perth and we have two gorgeous kids.”

I hear that there’s an interesting story behind your Great Grandfather and his magic trunk? 18

Supernal Magazine

Yes! That big box was a very big shock for me coz when I started on this path, I was around 14 years old and I didn’t really understand where my interest in illusion even came from. My parents at the time were hoping that this was just a phase I was going through and that I would eventually dedicate my life to something more useful. “When I was 14 I think I had

done about three shows for the local community and in my second show, I presented a major illusion that I had built, designed and choreographed. After that show people started to take notice of me and then my parents realised it was okay and showed me the truth about my great grandfather – they thought I’d found my calling.

interview “They revealed to me a steamer trunk that was owned by him; it was, very old and falling apart. With very little else known about my great grandfather, this was a treasure. “The trunk was full of his props - a sponge ball, old decks of cards, ropes, books, Chinese linking rings - really old antique stuff. It was like Christmas! It seemed surreal that there was someone in the family who used to be a magician - the perfect childhood dream come true! “I was restoring the trunk, when the bottom compartment fell off. I thought I’d destroyed it! I flipped the trunk over to see how bad the damage was and found a journal. A tiny book hidden within the bottom part of the trunk. We did some research and discovered that the journal belonged to an 18th century magician called ‘The Great Lafayette.’ “Lafayette was the highest paid performer of that era and the book was filled with his notes. Apart from his day to day life there were also illusion drawings - it was a stunning find. No one seemed to know anything about it and to this day, we haven’t figured out his connection with my great grandfather. This amazing experience told me I had discovered my calling. I was meant to find it, I was meant to be here right now - it’s in my DNA!”

That leads me to the question of why illusion? Why magic?

“As a kid growing up I was very shy, with very little selfesteem, or confidence and found it hard to make friends at school. The very first time I actually did see magic was in high school and the David Copperfield TV shows got me interested. “When I started watching the show, I didn’t really know what I was watching and didn’t understand the concept of magic, but I recorded David’s show and watched it so many times that I started dreaming the actual effects. I was so focused on that, I saw the methods while sleeping - I dreamt a lot of the methods that David was doing live.

It made me feel empowered that I knew something that no one else in the room knew about. “So that’s what got me thinking that this is something very special and powerful and it came so easily. Everything else was hard for me, but magic for some reason wasn’t. It felt natural.”

“A magic show from the States arrived and in the program was an advertisement for Bernard’s Magic Shop in Melbourne. Cool! I ordered their magazine and saved up all my lunch money and bought my very first box of magic tricks and that’s what got me to do my very first performance. “When I did my first show people started to notice. Until then I was invisible - in school and the community. I started to feel good about myself through the aid of magic - my confidence improved. I’m 14yo, live on stage, in front of people that I’ve never met before and I’m doing these amazing things, everyone with their mouth open in amazement.

Was coming from another country part of your lack of selfesteem? “Yes. When we migrated to Australia I was a little child that didn’t speak the language well. I was bullied throughout my school years,so I wanted the security of feeling I belonged, to have friends. I just wanted to fit in and magic created that.

“Two things helped me throughout my life. One was doing martial arts from a young age, which took care of the bullying, but I still lacked confidence and the ability to make friends. That’s where magic stepped in and helped. It’s been an amazing journey.”

Where does the reality of magic/illusions start and end with you? “Magic is active in my life 24 hours a day. When I’m out in public, it’s kind of hard to say where it starts and ends, because it doesn’t really stop - it’s always there. I can go to the shops but my mind is still in the zone of magic. “I’m always looking for ideas and inspirations, just noticing things that most people probably wouldn’t. I mean when’s the last time you looked out the window and noticed a tree swaying in the breeze? “Your head is either in work or society which is programmed to say - “Grow up, get married, get a home loan, get a good job, raise a family” and that’s it. A lot of people don’t really get to see the magic; maybe my job is to help you see it - the magic in everything! I can’t really say when reality ends, because reality to me honestly is never there, it’s always in magic!”

Would you classify yourself as a magician or an illusionist? “I’m not technically a magician, a magician is

lacked that in the early days and it took me a while to understand how to run a business. “I started straight away with the big illusions. A lot of times people will say that you’ve got to take baby steps. I skipped all that – the little hand manipulations and the card skills and jumped straight into big stage performances. This came very naturally to me. The illusions were very easy for me to do, so as far as training goes, I read as many books as I could get my hands on.

David Copperfield was one of your mentors, an inspiration for you were there others? “I don’t really have too many heroes. David Copperfield would probably be the only one of this day, but going back would have been my great grandfather and the Great Lafayette. Magicians from the old times have been an inspiration and motivation for me.”

What is a typical day in the life of Jack Daniels? “It’s kind of changed. Had you asked me that question before the little one was born 10 months ago, it would be a completely different answer. Before it was all business. I’ve kind of stopped that now, because I want to focus all my attention as a ‘stay at home’ dad. My missus has her own work. I work from home so I have family flexibility. I still work on magic if I want to, but I spend time with the little one during the day. I put away the magic stuff until she naps and manage the paperwork, but the real magic happens at night. “I’ll be in my room, locked away till midnight. Creating, researching and editing the music, rewriting the script and shows. You know,

getting some inspiration for illusions, so working on the business side of things. It’s very different from what it used to be.”

How much work would you say has been required for you to be “successful”? Maybe a quick tip for people who might say, “I want to be Jack Daniels!” “When I started there was no internet, I couldn’t just ‘log on’ and access information. I spent a lot of time after school in the library, trying to get as many books as I could on magic and theatre work. “A lot of time was spent in the library. I did business studies in school, but I wish I could go back in time, because I didn’t think that was important then. To me it was all about the creativity and I failed to realise that show business is two words; its ‘show’ and ‘business’. So I

“While my friends were out enjoying life, I was locked in my bedroom going through hundreds of music tracks. School lunch time and money was spent in music stores listening to and buying cd’s and going to the hardware shop for materials to create the sets for my illusions. I used to choreograph routines for the illusions with music visualising and working out the routines. It took a lot of rehearsing and planning and an extreme amount of attention to detail. “Magic, is one of those fields where, like music, if you don’t put the time into it eventually you’re going to forget it. It’s like playing a guitar; you need your fingers, the dexterity has to be there. “You always have to be looking for the next thing, especially for kids, as nowadays information is so easily accessible. Log onto YouTube and you can learn - there’s so much stuff on there. It’s not enough to say

Supernal Magazine

21

you just ‘know it.’ You can’t get into that mindset because that’s when you’re going to start making mistakes. You’ve always got to keep one step ahead of it.”

Do you believe in the spirit world? Do you work with them? “I don’t work with them, but I am a big believer that there is something bigger than us within this world. As a kid growing up I used to see things around me that people wouldn’t normally see and, for some reason, it always happened when I was in my room - when I was working with the magic stuff. As an adult now I don’t really have that same vibration, if you wish to call it that. I don’t work with them per say, but I kind of create the illusion that I am.”

Have any illusions gone wrong or created any sort of panic or stress? “Well, yes - maybe panic. It was my fifth performance, I accidentally set a ladies hair on fire. I had this pyro effect. It was the beginning of my act; I was literally just going to walk on stage and going to produce this ball of fire. I didn’t take everything into consideration - trial and error, you are learning all the time and when you’re a kid you’ve got no idea of OH&S stuff, nothing like that, so I think I let my ego get to me. I literally had this ball of fire appear in my hand and the draft that was in the room carried it. It landed on a lady’s head - her hair lit up!

22

Supernal Magazine

“Luckily though, it was a community-based show and people knew me, but it was a panic for the lady and it was the beginning of my show so where do you go from there? Every movement is pre-choreographed to a specific point in the music, so do I jump down and check on the lady or do I continue with the show? It was chaos, but luckily they put her out. I’ve never used fire since! “Another thing that happened as an adult, with an illusion that I call The Spiker, it’s a massive grand illusion. I am chained inside this cabinet and I have less than 60 seconds to escape before about 45 spears come smashing towards me. It’s one of the illusions that to this day scares me every time I have to perform it, coz I’m not in control - this is the one illusion that is out of my hands. “One time in that cabinet, there was no way for me to signal my crew backstage that I’m out of the way, you can release the spears. It’s executed to perfection; timed so my crew rely on my skills while I’m inside the box. I have to make sure that I’m out of the way so nothing can go wrong. In this instance though, something did go wrong and I was millimetres away from getting the spears literally shish-kababbing me.

Jack Daniels really is a whole team then? “Yeah, if you want to look at it from that perspective. I rely heavily on my dancers, the guys backstage, the

stagehands and I’ve got to see it through their eyes and put myself in their position to understand what they see. Are they going to know if something does go wrong? How do I want them to act if it does? “In reality, and this is the downside of the industry, is that I get all the credit coz the audience sees me, but that’s not the case, the credit really has to go to the guys working behind the scenes because without them, I can’t do what I do. It’s impossible for me to do what I do.”

What is Project Magic? “Project Magic, is basically a program that uses magic as a form of therapy for people in hospitals, where magicians teach occupational therapists sleight of hand and the occupational therapists teach those skills to the patients. In return it basically helps them with their dexterity, coordination, hand eye skills coordination and memory.”

Leon Bracelin: The Merging of Worlds Archaeology and the Esoteric by Freya Sampson

Archaeology sparks the imagination. Unearthing mysteries, seeking clues to why we are, who we are and through investigating, who we were. Leon Bracelin is the Archaeologist in Residence in Ludlow, Shropshire, England where he is exploring the facets of the ancient culture of Ludlow, including its castle, dwellings, places of trade, as well as grounds and farmlands around the town. He’s doing this to reveal a clear picture of the lives and the old ways of the residents across the ages. Leon is deeply passionate about his craft and, interviewing him over Zoom, as he speaks, I feel as though I’m being pulled through the screen and into a medieval village scene, my mind expanding from curiosity to wonder. What makes Leon even more interesting, is that his life is steeped in the esoteric. Leon says, “I’m one of those unusual people, I am a scientist and I have a very deep association with the esoteric, meaning all of the very unusual things about life. “Looking at all of the finds to do with people, why we do things, our superstitions and mythology, it’s a journey of discovery in both aspects. Although you never know what you’re going to find, primarily it asks the question; Why?” I asked Leon, “When did you start asking ‘why?’ and what

24

Supernal Magazine

leads you down the esoteric rabbit-hole and into the pits and tunnels of archaeology?”

“Being brought up in that environment lead me to ask the big questions: Why are we here? Who are we and what is this life all about?” “It goes right back to before I was five years old. I was brought up in a very unusual household. My father, Jack Bracelin, was an Anthropologist who had a deep association with the Wiccan movement in the 1950’s and 60’s.” Wikipedia states: Jack L. Bracelin was an influential figure in the early history of the neo-pagan religion of Wicca, being a High Priest of Gardnerian Wicca, who had been initiated into the craft by Doreen Valiente in 1956. He was a member of the Bricket Wood Coven. He authored

an authoritative biography of Gardener, the founder of the Wiccan Religion, called ‘Gerald Gardner: Witch’ in 1960. “Being brought up in that environment lead me to ask the big questions: Why are we here? Who are we and what is this life all about? As people, the essence of spirit, which all religions, beliefs and faiths encapsulate, I think there is a lot more to this life than what we perceive.” Digging deeper (pardon the pun!), I questioned Leon about the influence of his father’s career in Anthropology on his choice to enter his chosen field. “Yes, he was definitely an influence. The discipline of Anthropology looks at why we do things and what we believe in and our place. With Archaeology, it’s about finding things and finding things out. The two are closely related.” I sense from Leon’s way of talking about his dad and his first archaeological dig, that the influence of his father’s life’s work had given him a broader and more deeply insightful understanding of people and their behaviours. It is inspiring to hear his deeper sense of the terrain of archaeology, through his quest to understand what it

interview it means to be human. I asked Leon to share some of the areas he’s currently demystifying in Ludlow. “In archaeological terms, I’m looking at the medieval pottery and the changes in how we were using these things in everyday life. Some very unusual things popped up, for example, bottles that were placed upside down in entrance ways, which was actually a form of protection. What I’ve found through the ‘finds’ in many different cultures, way back in history, is that we have always had the this attribute to the hereafter, since the first time we buried someone in the ground, which we know from Mesolithic period, early prehistoric archaeology, goes right back to the Ice Age and was a world-wide practice.” Concerning Leon’s statements that humans have ritual associated with the death and afterlife processes, I asked, “Is there evidence associated with the birthing and death-rituals, given that there is no body or grave to investigate?”

“When you go back to prehistory it’s all about the ritual landscape. It’s mainly focused on the treatment of the dead, preparation for the hereafter, our perception of time, space, where we are now. Some things are hard to place archaeologically. For example if you did a ritual now, burning something or dancing, how is it recorded? There’s no physical record. One of the ways Leon has incorporated the esoteric into his science is through dowsing.

Leon shares, “When I first moved here, I met a lot of the older generation who used hazel sticks to divine for water. Despite its ancient orgins, it is still used today. It is written off by many as pseudoscience when in fact it isn’t - it really works!” I remarked that the practice of dowsing, brought from England to Australia has been and is widely accepted and used today by farmers to locate water on their properties.

Supernal Magazine

25

One of Leon’s main objectives is to edify us on these practices. “In science if you can’t see it, touch it, smell it, taste it, then it’s not real, but it’s moving away from that now. When we start asking other questions and look at how things are replicated from the past, we see we are not that far removed today. Look at lucky charms or a family heirloom that is associated with a family custom. “Even from when we are children ‘the tooth fairy’, all of these things, have a direct impact on who we are and how we live today.

“When you go back to prehistory it’s all about the ritual landscape.” “There’s a lot more that could be done, exploring comingof-age practices, initiations; we know that people were doing these things in prehistoric times, but there is no written evidence. We see it through the evolution of midwifery and the hedgewitches, with their innate knowledge of medicine. For about the last 500 years we’ve been christening children, using a font, which you can see, but you can’t see the water, so it asks a lot of interesting questions.” In Ludlow, Leon is exploring 14th Century ‘witch-markings.’ I asked him to define the meaning of ‘witch’ and are ‘cunning-folk’ the same? Leon says, “A witch is someone who works with and has an innate knowledge of nature, a wise-

one, who used the old-ways. It was not a gender specific term nowadays, but this was not always necessarily so.” He believes the origins are in the feminine, stating, “If you look at the 5-6th Century in England, the women had high-status burials. “Being a witch means living the knowledge. The cunning folk 14th -15th Century, were known as the fixers. If you believed you had a curse on you, you’d go to see the local ‘cunning folk’ and they’d remove it.” It was interesting to hear Leon’s perspectives that, in religions as they have evolved around the world, they have taken aspects of what came before and re-crafted it into a new ritualistic expression. “The old churches in England are all built on pagan ritual sites.” Leon pointed out. The rest of our interview takes us into the extraordinary territory of the meaning of the ‘witch-markings’, old ways in modern times and cycles of birth, death and rebirth, which you can view in these following three short videos.

Covid 19 - Surviving at home

By Derran Heney Mental Health Professional We are certainly facing unprecedented times in 2020 and with this health crisis upon us, we have all had to consider how to modify the way we live. As we watch a number of aspects of our lives changing around us, from our social connectedness to our daily routines, with interruptions to going to work, generating an income, navigating the many fears that surround the world at this present time, anxiety,

uncertainty, then distress is most certainly a normal response. With all that is going on, it is super important to look after not only our physical health, but also our mental and emotional health and wellbeing. There is a wealth of information available on mainstream and other social media sources about the Corona Virus (CV) and, while it is really important to be informed about this,

the media tends to focus on the more morbid reports about CV; the doom and gloom narrative, rather than give a balanced update. We need to be discerning about the information we absorb and protect ourselves from added stress and anxiety that can also have an impact on our general mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Health professionals recommended limiting how much you read, watch and listen to about the CV, stay informed but be mindful that it is not consuming you (Beyond Blue, 2020). Seek to also explore the feel-good recovery stories to balance your perspective on the actual reality. Locate sources of information that are credible like the WHO or your local health reporting agencies to find balanced reliable information.

mental health Maintain balance: It is easy to succumb to fear based thinking, but a good way to unwind from thoughts that tend to take us off course, is to keep reminding ourselves of the facts surrounding CV. - For most people the risk of becoming seriously ill is low (80% of cases have been found to be asymptomatic or mild) - We have a good health system with good testing facilities for early detection/treatment - We have the advantage of learning from other countries what worked well for them. - There are easy things we can all do to keep healthy (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020) Educating children and teenagers: It is good to maintain constant awareness of the way we react and respond to CV around our children. Small children and teenagers may become extremely fearful, if we too are demonstrating anxiety or discussing fear-based stories. We can however, discuss the facts in a balanced way as outlined above, but also include how we can protect ourselves from transmission of the virus. “By doing this, children become able to talk about their fears, and, feel informed and confident about finding solutions and managing their feelings.” Focus on informing children about washing their hands. For example, make it fun by researching the internet and practice together. Educate children as to why it is important to maintain social distance especially in public

areas, to reduce the spread of germs. By doing this, children become able to talk about their fears, and, feel informed and confident about finding solutions and managing their feelings. Read more here; https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/ talking-with-children.html Talk about other things: Ensure conversations are balanced; include a range of topics - not just focused on CV impacts. Develop a fun, new routine Keep children entertained with conversation, games, school work, books and fun activities, and go outdoors. Be sure to keep yourself and children connected to their friends and family via media or telephones. This is a great way to help everyone feel that they are not entirely shut off from the world. Use the time to enjoy what you are doing, consider what projects you have wanted to do, but have never found the time for. Home schooling & working from home: Home schooling principles do not follow the usual six hour a day school hours. Mostly children work for a few hours across the day but then take breaks for exercise, meals and fun activities. Para ‘Normal’ - Never Lose the Magic According to the dictionary definition, Paranormal: Adjective; Denoting events or phenomena that are beyond the scope of normal scientific understanding. Let us contemplate this for a moment. Those of us who have experienced, or have knowledge of the paranormal, are sometimes ridiculed by those who have not; they say that the paranormal doesn’t exist because science hasn’t proven it exists. My answer to that is ‘...Yet!’ 32

Supernal Magazine

It is BEYOND the scope of scientific understanding at the moment and, as we know, science is everchanging, ever-evolving and one day what we see as magical and unexplainable will be explained away. Therein lies the rub.

“I had to know how and why it worked.” However, science catches up slowly with things that were once considered supernatural, paranormal or magic. For example, when the sun would disappear and the day turned to night in the middle of the

afternoon: an eclipse was once considered a supernatural event, until astronomical science explained it away. When the primitive medicine man used ‘magical herbs’ for healing, those same herbs were investigated and synthesised by chemists and have now become part of our standard pharmaceutical, medical establishment. When those ancient healers used trance states to help people with their mental, emotional and physical health and now we recognise them in our own psychological sciences. All these instances and so much more that were once considered ‘magic’, are now part of our everyday lives. I remember my grandfather telling me about science fiction books he would read as a child, about cars that could go faster than 100 miles per hour , rocket ships that could leave the earth’s

mental health atmosphere, Dick Tracey with a wristwatch he could make video calls on. What was once science ‘fiction’ is now science ‘fact’. I think that it’s great to have science catching up, especially with the advent of quantum sciences and more open-minded scientific research. However, there may be a downside. Humankind evolves via our imaginations, we imagine something, we may just get a perceptive glimpse of something and that is enough to spur us on, to investigate, study and experiment. Unfortunately, we then limit ourselves. If we explain something via science, we measure and weigh it, we wrap it up with a nice little label and pigeonhole it. “Oh, we’ve worked that one out, we no longer need to consider it anything important.” If we see everything as a puzzle to be solved and then, once solved put it away, are we missing out on the magic? Are we limiting our beliefs about a certain thing because science has told us what it is? I, for one, like a bit of mystery. I was once someone who

was not satisfied that something worked, I had to know how and why it worked, until I realised that I was limiting myself to someone else’s beliefs. The scope for advancement, for imagination, to evolve was squashed by imposing these limits on myself.

“Never lose the magic, the mystery, for it fuels our imagination and is the mother of invention.” Let’s take the idea of Spirit Guides. The accepted definition around spiritual people is that a spirit guide, in western spiritualism, is an entity that remains as a disincarnate spirit to act as a guide or protector to a living incarnated human being. I’ve used spirit guides for a while now and the best example was when our clothes dryer broke down. Not knowing anything about clothes dryers and not wanting to spend the money on a new one, I meditated asking for a guide to come forth that could help me with information to fix the dryer. Next thing you know, I had taken the whole thing apart. I fixed it with a 15 dollar bearing from the hardware store. It has worked perfectly ever since.

Now that may seem paranormal, but maybe, just maybe, somewhere in my subconscious, I had information that I picked up watching a TV show or read somewhere. Somehow this information was stored at an unconscious level, and I accessed that information via meditation. That would sound more ‘scientific’, more acceptable to the everyday person. Either way, who cares? It worked, that’s all I am concerned about. I will continue to use spirit guides in this vein because they are very helpful and, by doing so, I am not limiting myself or my abilities, by thinking “Well, I just wouldn’t have that information in me. Call them spirit guides, angels, whatever, it’s just semantics. If I take the magic away by wrapping it up and labelling it scientifically then it may not work anymore and that is not something I wish to happen, they are just too handy. In short, never lose the magic, the mystery, for it fuels our imagination and is the mother of invention. ESPecially best wishes, The Mentalist

Spirit of things Andrew Jackson Davis I have chosen Andrew Jackson Davis for this month’s column because he was an amazing man and pioneer for Modern Spiritualism. Modern Spiritualism is reported to have started with the Fox sisters, but it was Davis who actually predicted and wrote in his diary, on 31st March 1848, that a ‘living demonstration would be born’. This is the actual day that spirit started to communicate with the Fox Sisters in Hydesville, New York (NY).

“In this state, he found that he could read closed books.”

34

Supernal Magazine

Andrew Jackson Davis was a seer and clairvoyant of the 19th Century and who later became known as ‘John the Baptist of Modern Spiritualism’. He was born on August 11th 1826 in Blooming Grove, Orange County, NY. His father was an unstable alcoholic and did odd jobs as a cobbler and weaver but did not earn much, so the family lived in poverty. His mother was very religious and illiterate. The family moved frequently, so Davis did not have much schooling. When he was 12, the family moved to Poughkeepsie. At the age of 17, he attended a lecture in his hometown on Mesmerism (hypnotism) by Dr J.S. Grimes. Davis experimented with what he had learnt but had no success until a local tailor, William Livingston who was

By Samantha Duly

also experimenting, put him into a trance. Davis, from this experience, found out that he was clairvoyant and could also gain information from a higher plane of consciousness. In this state, he found that he could read closed books, diagnose illnesses, as he saw the body as transparent and each organ stood out. In this way he was able to prescribe treatments for the patient’s condition. He also found that he understood the universe, cause and effects, plus the divine truths and with this, the laws of the universe were shown to him. Davis also claimed he could reach the spirit world at will, realising that all spirits continue to progress. He explained in detail what

“The laws of the universe were shown to him.” happens to the soul after death and how the spirit leaves body forming a new spiritual being. Davis also explained Spiritualism and other metaphysical phenomena. Davis felt he had reached the Superior Condition, which is beyond clairvoyance, where he received information for the spiritual sun which is beyond the spirit world. Davis was very specific in his predictions and his accuracy was higher than any other seer known before. Amongst his predictions, he foretold/predicted the existence of the planets, Neptune and Pluto, before their actual discovery. He eventually became known as ‘the Poughkeepsie Seer’. Although Davis had not had much schooling, at 21 years of age, he dictated a book based on his revelations over fifteen months and while in a trance state, called Principles of Nature. In this book, he stated “It is a truth that spirits commune with one another while one is in the body and the other in the higher spheres - and this, too, when the person in the body is unconscious of the influx, and hence cannot be convinced of the fact; and this truth will ere long present itself in the form of a living demonstration. And the world will hail with delight the ushering in of that era when the interiors of men

will be opened, and the spiritual communion will be established.” In his lifetime Davis had over 30 books published within the years of 1845-1885. His spiritual writings included subjects on mental and physical health, philosophy, education, chemistry and physics, the seven planes of existence and much more. The way the books are written helps people advance their spirituality, as Davis claimed, they reach your ‘innermost being’.

“Davis met and advised Abraham Lincoln during the civil war.”

“He explained in detail what happens to the soul after death.”

It is thought that Davis met and advised Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War of 1861-1865. He visited the White House and Lincoln also met with him in New York. In his later years, he obtained a medical degree and when he retired, he ran a small book shop and prescribed herbal remedies until his passing in 1910.

Andrew’s contributions to Spiritualism simply cannot be counted. A simple uneducated man, who gave so much and should be noted as the prime forerunner to Modern Spiritualism. Davis also achieved so much from such a poor start in his life and I feel spirit chose him specifically to do this extraordinary work. In May, I will be writing about Telepathy and Psychometry. Divine Time Opening Number

By ShirelySienna

Angels we have heard on high Sweetly singing o’er the plains And the mountains in reply Echoing their joyous strains. Gloria in Excelsis Deo Gloria in Excelsis Deo (Hymn of the Angels)

The ‘scene’ is set. A play with overtones of drama in motion. What will cause, what will pause, and what will the final curtain herald in? As ShirleySienna writing this ahead of ‘time’, and reading back on what I had written (and having forgotten wording of as it was channelled through months ago) for the March issue, I am excited. No matter what is and has been going on, I feel a sense of elation in the unfolding of 2020 as it moves forward. “…we are encouraged to recalibrate on many levels - body, mind soul, and beyond, deeper and darker into the void until purification brings us back to light.”

A Virus of evidently plague proportions is not-so-quietly ‘invading’ the Earth, and yet I know it is the harbinger of good things yet to come. From the March Solar Moon of Intention to the April Planetary Moon of Manifestation – (and we may intentionally pun and say ‘moon of infestation’, a poor time for jokes, but folks - this is not the end! It is an opportunity for new beginnings. Liberation is coming. Liberation from greed, from ignorance and poor choices made from chosen and forced unconsciousness, from April 2020, we are encouraged to recalibrate on many levels body, mind, soul, and beyond, deeper and darker into the void until purification brings us back to light. Liberation over history shows freedom never comes easy,

“It is innate within, just waiting for you to put a finger on the pulse, and press play.”

nor is it easily accepted or perhaps wanted, as the human mind trapped in its comfort zone of hardship and pain which is tangible, finds ease, grace and enlightenment to be something like the chirpy

divine guidance verses of a greeting card. I may write of blessings, congratulations and joy to the world, but – its only words, surely it isn’t real? A good day today and back to the usual grind tomorrow! The Planetary Dog Moon (love, loyalty, compassion) says ‘how can I perfect what I do?’ Well, for a start, I can hold onto a vibration of purposely making some better choices, setting a few good intentions and finding more compassion for myself, for all people and all situations! This is the way to true liberation. Enabling the self, shifting one’s focus from fear, from lack and worry can be done. There is help available if you choose to take it. Meditation and focus are key elements always, and by orchestrating small and simple steps to enlightenmentillumination, of a personal nature– mental physical, emotional and spiritual health, you will create new action rather than reaction, responding perfectly in each moment. It is innate within, just waiting for you to put a finger on the pulse, and press play. Liberation is your divine right as a HuMane-Being. You do not have to be a human constantly doing - that serves no purpose apart from occupying your mind, and your time in ways that do not always serve not just your own, but a higher purpose.

Serpent Moon of Liberation’ and ask yourself the question – “How do I release and let go?” Shedding a few layers of old consciousness, rules, regulations, thoughts, commands and demands, habits, restrictions and most of all doubts of your own ability, integrity and divine purpose for a start, will set you on your way nicely. Listening in a quiet space to positive affirmation, seeking guidance or counselling, joining a meditation or spiritual or wellness group, in order to see the positive and opportunities in life. Relaxing, recharging, and trusting yourself. You are entitled to experience in order to learn, to realise there are new options available for each segment of your life, which is not a short novel, but a whole book of verses, pages, chapters and volumes. It’s time to open new doors, pull back the curtains that reveal you as the major player, producer, director, understudy, star, scriptwriter, and all of the characters in the greatest story you ever dreamed of - your life! A reality dream that has a plethora of options, changes, shifts and cycles within reach.

“There is work to be done to, for and by the human race to rediscover their origins and a genesis code that is falling in divine humour from the womb of the Goddess.” Allow yourself to see past the proverbial length of your own nose, then will you be ready to enter into a greater archetype of world cooperation, global society and universal revelations. There is work to be done to, for and by the human race to rediscover their origins and a genesis code that is falling in divine humour from the womb of the Goddess, rather dark but glorious is now upon you. Please make the most of every moment, give thanks and have an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ for all that unfolds. In that way, you liberate not only yourself but all in your wake, creating a ripple effect that allows a beautiful and new foundation to begin to rise upon this planet. Coming soon - August, a Harmonic Convergence of time, space and tone. Now is your time to ready and ‘attune’ to the vibrations heard by those who have heart. Luckily that is all incarnate upon Planet Earth. In Lak’ech ala’kin ShirleySienna

Signs

of the

Times

by Varij Varidium

Is this the end of life as we have known it? 2020 began with apocalyptic bushfires, soon followed by the unprecedented social and economic measures taken to limit the spread of the Corona Virus (Covid 19). Hence the leading question: Is this the end of life as we have known it? The major astrological signature of the dark and foreboding mood permeating the first quarter of 2020 is the Saturn/Pluto conjunction that perfected in January, but which remains in orb all year.

These are both planets of endings and, with their conjunction occurring in the sign Capricorn, the endings will take place in the areas of work, government, business, bureaucracy and big hierarchical institutions. Saturn rules Capricorn, so its influence is particularly strong when transiting through the sign. It is the planet of boundaries, restriction, responsibility, chronological time and definition. It’s generic seven year cycles

40

Supernal Magazine

define key stages in the individual life cycle such as the end of infancy at seven, puberty around 14, adulthood at 21 and the Saturn Return in the late 20’s, when it’s time to ‘grow up’ and take responsibility for one’s life choices and future direction. It is often a major turning point, the definitive end of youthful living for the moment.

“As the Lord of Karma he ensures that cosmic justice prevails, that we reap what we sow.” Further along, Saturn rules over old age and the end of life. He brings death at ‘the end of one’s allotted time’. As the Lord of Karma, he ensures that cosmic justice prevails, that we reap what we sow. This applies on the collective as well

as individual level. Pluto is the planet of death, rebirth and transformation; money, power and control. It is the ruler of the sign Scorpio with its mythological counterparts including Hades, Greek Lord of the Underworld; Hindu Kali, dark face of the Great Mother, who takes as well as bestows life; Ereshkigal, Sumerian ‘Lady of the Great Place Below’ and Shiva the destroyer god of the Hindu pantheon. In this guise, Pluto is the creative force of destruction, destroying the old to bring forth the new. Synchronistically, the exact conjunction of Saturn with Pluto in January coincided with the peak of the apocalyptic bushfires that brought widespread death, destruction and ongoing economic and social dislocation. Living in the bush may never be the same again and, for the survivors, the psychic and psychological scars of living through hell will not be easily healed. The bush, however, in many areas will regenerate a normal plutonian process, but perhaps not the rainforests, which have not evolved to cope with fire.

astrology astrology

Now, late March as I write this, the even more devastating economic and social impacts of the social distancing measures taken to contain the spread of the corona virus (Saturn), an insidious invisible plague, (Pluto), heralds the breakdown of business as usual and the associated business of government, which now must expand to provide income support to all those excluded from work. Crikey journalist Bernard Keane writes: “The failed Centrelink website will end up being a footnote to the unfolding crisis, but it’s a telling example of how governments have stripped themselves of the ability to serve communities, driven by the broad agenda of contestability, outsourcing, corporatisation and privatisation over the last thirty years.”

Astrologically, this is the work of Saturn/Pluto in Capricorn (Government) bringing an end to the reign of the neo-Liberal market fundamentalist economic approach with its associated mantras of “There is no such thing as society” and “Government is the problem not the solution” of the Thatcher/Reagan era, the birth of which coincided with

the previous Saturn/Pluto in Libra conjunction of the early 80’s.

To finish on a brighter note, there are also three Jupiter (planet of wisdom and good fortune) Pluto conjunctions occurring in Capricorn this year, peaking in early April, June and November, that are sure to constellate the positive transformative potentials of the end of business and government as usual.

Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Aquarius. Potentially this will crystallize the birth of a new consciousness grounded in cutting edge science, age old indigenous wisdom and the deep ecological awareness that what we do to the web of life, we do to ourselves. Ancient Future Past. We Earthlings will rise or fall together.

SATURN

“I foresee that the real game changer for 2020 will be the December Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Aquarius.”

PLUTO

A return to localisation and a greening of the economy are ideas whose time has come and perhaps that of a Universal Basic Income too, stemming from an overall more compassionate approach from Government. Interestingly, the hugely influential cultural exemplars Mahatma Gandhi and Ram Dass, who both underwent major metamorphoses in their lives, have a Jupiter/ Pluto conjunction in their natal charts.

Enlighten Up

The Breath of Life By Freya Sampson Custodian Eartheart

The Relationship Cycle

‘Conflict - Moving into Separation or Golden Afterglow’ Even those who are skilful, who are authentic and who understand about individual differences, are still going to end up in some degree of conflict at some stage in their relationship. In the same vein as pruning back a healthy bush at the right time and season in order to promote a lusher, more vigorous and vibrant growth, to some, conflict is as healthy as gardening in a relationship. Conflict does not have to be negative; it can simply be a catalyst for change. Really conflict is two or more people’s ‘scarcity paradigms’ bumping heads. A scarcity paradigm is a set of beliefs held in the subconscious mind that is based in a frequency of ‘the absence of or not enough’. They could be things like I am not enough. It doesn’t matter how much I do, it is never enough. Life wasn’t meant to be easy. No one ever includes me. 42

Supernal Magazine

I don’t belong and so on. Energy is the the actual resource being fought over, whatever form it may be taking at the time, that is the subject matter of the fight. Two classic examples are money and time. Becoming skilful instead of fearful at managing conflict is a beneficial skill that all people need to develop to have a healthy, happy life. When one is skilful at resolving conflict, it’s highly unlikely that anything worse than an unsatisfactory compromise will occur. Remember the wise words of Einstein: “A problem cannot be solved at the level of consciousness from which it was created”, and equally important for the resolution of conflict, “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, is the definition of insanity.” You don’t know a person until you’ve disagreed with

them. At this stage, quite quickly, you will see if the beloved is skilful or unskilful, controlling or not. There is a handy tool, created by Dr David Hawkins, as outlined in his book Power Vs Force. It’s called the Vibrational Scale of Consciousness. If you take the time to explore this model and think and feel into it, you will begin to realise a lot about yourself and others. How we process information, which won’t be how you thought it was happening! This inevitably will help you to drop some judgement and rigidity, which are the two underpinning causes of why people close their hearts and cut off the flow of love between one another. The Vibrational Scale of Consciousness describes the relationships between the points of view of Divine View, Life View, Level, Frequency, Emotion and Process. If you and your partner or team

energy choose to undertake an activity such the one as I’ve suggested and when all parties do this consciously, then the conflict can easily be solved and a win/win outcome can be achieved.

12. Avoid needing to be right 13. Check-in with your respective inner children and meet their needs 14. Get a healing 15. Check-in with yourself - Is it your ego or soul in action?

move deeper into love and intimacy, where the cycle will start all over again, or we will hopefully agree to disagree and are unable to resolve our differences. The relationship moves into the separation stage and the former beloved ‘break up.’ Should this occur, it is best to separate on good terms as this bodes well for future relationships. In saying this, it is most true to say that it’s best to remember that our relationship beginnings, how we conduct ourselves during a relationship and how we choose to end a relationship are all equally important and set the tone for the future.

There are lots of good ways couples and groups can approach dealing with conflict: 1. Create a formula for disagreeing with your beloved 2. Have healthy boundaries 3. Leave past issues in the past 4. Don’t break or throw things 5. Don’t abuse one another 6. Don’t dump on one another 7. Take time out to centre all concerned before the discussion 8. Agree on the communication style before you start 9. Work on self-love and respect 10. Disengage from power games 11. Be authentic

Are you my mirror? That is to say, if there is a strong emotional charge in you, then yes, the other person is acting as your mirror. The strong emotional charge is a signal that there is an aspect of self out of resonance with love and unity, which requires recognition and reunification into your heart. The other person is showing you this in yourself.

If we can cycle through these phases cleanly and continuously create win/ wins for all parties, then we have the makings for lifelong, deeply meaningful, authentic, empowered relationships. Until next month - enjoy more empowerment and your journey.

Deepening in Love or Moving Into Separation This phase is quite straight forward, either we can resolve our differences and

Numerology by ShirleySienna

For firm foundations in this year of 2020, allow April’s 4 to enter the play, filling in the sinkhole, reorganising, restructuring and recalibrating. The level is the holy instrument to make sure all is in line and all that requires surveying is neatly arranged and in clear sight. Remember, a square is not a square when it is multi-dimensional, when it is an aspect of sacred geometry and you cannot yet see its true form. This month the number 4 has raised its vibration, is of great strength and filled with anticipation for breaking the boundaries of usual consciousness. It is stretching itself in order to be of value and service in stabilising the ground beneath our very feet.

Quote of the Month “I am a great admirer of mystery and magic. Look at this life - all mystery and magic.” - Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini, born Erik Weisz on March 24, 1874 in Budapest, Hungary (then Austria-Hungary), was a beloved magician, illusionist and actor. He was known all over as ‘The Handcuff King’. Houdini was, and still is, famous for his escapism stunts, such as his most infamous ‘Milk Can Escape.’ This stunt, first performed in 1904, saw him handcuffed and sealed in a full oversized milk can from which he would successfully effect an escape. Harry passed away on October 31, 1926.
